Got a number of devices with Firefox installed, all of them Firefox Sync'ed. Most of them on rapid release version cycle and a couple of them on ESR.

When https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/website-translation it provided a clean way to browse entire pages automatically translated. Problem is that the translate option is not there.

I'm at work right now on ESR 115.15.0 / Windows 10 64-bit and no translate icon appears on the address bar when checking German or French or Japanese sites (for example). Comparing my own browser settings to another, non-ESR FF it seems that on ESR something is missing. There is only a reference "Firefox Translations" and a "Exceptions" button to it. Check the attached image.

Can't tell if this is a bug or a feature (ie ESR lacks Firefox translate).

Right now, when you use AI features in Firefox, each request opens a new chat with the provider. But sometimes I would like to send the webpage selection to an existing chat for better context, especially when I am looking for guidance through something like the AWS Console. Is there any option to achieve this?

I just got a new laptop and have set Firefox as the default browser. Duckduckgo is my search engine which I could use on the Firefox home page with my old machine. I do not want to search with Google. I see no way to eliminate Google as the default search engine. How can I change this?

Thank you

I run the latest version of Firefox.

Lately it refuses to open on first attempt - be it from a start menu link or double-clicking the shortcut on my desktop or trying to open a html file directly.

It's annoying and i'd like to fix it.

I've done all the usual stuff like clearing the cache.

I've found a solution to the blurriness of the emojis, I've put it in the end of this post, in bold ⤵⤵⤵

My problem is that emojis look bad on Firefox compared to Edge_128.0.2739.79. Two screenshots are attached of bing.com & a Google Doc (left half of both pictures is Edge, other half Firefox). The problem persists on all the sites to a varying degree.

Steps to replicate: A] Open 2 sites in latest Edge & Firefox on Windows 11 (the examples that I've used in the screenshots): https://www.bing.com/ and an Empty Google Doc. B] In the search field of bing and in a new line in an empty Google Doc, copy the following example emojis (That were inserted using the 'Windows_Key+V' which summons the emoji Keyboard of Windows): 🏀🚕 C] Compare the quality of the emojis rendering between the browsers when unzoomed and when zooming.

I've tried in FF (to no avail): A] Disable hardware acceleration in settings (w/ FF restart). B] Setting "gfx.font_rendering.cleartype_params.rendering_mode" from -5 to 5 (w/ 10+ FF restarts). C] Setting "gfx.webrender.quality.force-subpixel-aa-where-possible" to true (w/ FF restart). D] Using both emoji sets in the "Segoe UI Emoji" & "Twemoji Mozilla" fonts in the "font.name-list.emoji" setting, both sets gave me blurry results (w/ FF restarts). D] Disabling all add-ons (w/ FF restart). E] Setting new Firefox separate clean install. F*] In Windows setting the scaling factor to 100% in Windows->System->Display->Scaling_Factor (w/ FF & Windows restart).

How can the blurriness of the emojis be fixed so to make them crystal sharp like in Edge?

Solution: A} Download Noto-Color-Emoji font from https://fonts.google.com/noto/specimen/Noto+Color+Emoji Ensure that your are getting the full resolution font (which came at ~23MB as of 2024.09.23) B} Unpack the font and install according to the on screen instructions. C} In FF in "about:config" find the "font.name-list.emoji" setting and rewrite its value field to "Noto Color Emoji, Segoe UI Emoji, Twemoji Mozilla" (w/o the quotations marks). D} I've attached a screenshot w/ the result, It is marked w/ the red writing of font.name-list.emoji on it.

Hopefully this may reach Mozilla Connect maintainers/developers. After posting a topic or a comment in Mozilla Connect, I struggled to find it. Somehow I found out there is a page "My Unmoderated Items", which is not referenced from my account, from main menu or anywhere reachable. Once you know the link or leave it open, it looks fine, but finding the page again is a real struggle.

Would you please add "https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/premod/moderationitemspage/tab/unmoderated:idea" to all relevant menus so that the user can find it easily?

I have had a series fo problems over the last 2 months. All different, but on closer inspection, all connected to recaptcha and login security.

I have not been able to log into my wordpress admin website for 2 months. It just hangs with"Verifying you are not a robot". I can login using Chrome.

Now I have just taken out insurance for my car and have set up a login for my insurance portal - and can't login because "Recaptcha cannot determine that you are a human".

I have searched and found that there was a bug with recaptcha and firefox, but that this was fixed. In any case, this fix did not work for me.

Can anyone please tell me what I should do so that I can login to recaptcha sites?

I took a look today and I had 237 MB in cookies! This was after clearing the cache of all files. I've only had this (new) machine a couple months.

Short version: Sites have "cookies" from 200kb to as much as 34MB! For many of the sites over 3MB I have no account and have visited them only briefly.

To be clear, I don't care about the space being used. It's trivial. But what the heck is FFox storing and calling it "cookies"? Last I checked, a site was still limited to 4K size cookies and perhaps 50 per domain. So how are we getting to MB+ sized "cookies" per site? Again, the cache was cleared, so what's left aside from trivial cookie files of <4KB?
