How do I stop Firefox mixing up my bookmarks?

When I opened Firefox yesterday, a couple of my folders were in the wrong places on the sidebar. I thought maybe I'd moved them the night before when I was very tired, or maybe that they'd accidentally gotten moved when I tried to move something else during a short period of lag. This morning, however, I opened Firefox and found that there were even more mixed up bookmarks. I can figure out where they go and move them back, but this would be a real pain if it happened every day. Can anyone help?

A "bookmark's location" ought to show its location on my browser, rather than the PAGE'S ONLINE ADDRESS. If someone has a webpage bookmarked, then why would he/she need its URL? But that person might be going howdy-rowdy trying to find a bookmark in his/her own browser's folders (don't ask me how I know).
How can I access the firefox bookmark "library" window so I can rename/move/delete bookmarks quickly. It seems to be hidden.

I am having problems with my Bookmarks page on Firefox and I can't find any way to get help on your website.
My Bookmarks page jumps all over the place and I can't control it with my mouse. It seems to have a mind of it's own.

Just upgraded to Windows10 ver 1909 and it wiped my bookmarks and add-ons from all browsers, so I now start out with an empty bookmark list. How do I get Firefox to recognize my favorites directory that is on the hard drive? Since they are gone from all browsers, I can't do an import and I can't figure out how to reset the bookmark directory location.
I don't get the "Show all bookmarks" button to be able to import bookmarks from Chrome.

In the Firefox support of "Import bookmarks from Google Chrome" it says to "Click the Library button [57 library icon] , then click Bookmarks. Scroll to the bottom and click Show all Bookmarks." Recently I bought a new PC, installed Firefox on it, logged in with my account and synced all of my bookmarks and add-ons, etc My wife is now working on my old PC, therefore I removed all old programs and installed just the basic stuff she always uses. She's also created her own account after installing the latest version of Firefox. I didn't rename the computer, only her Windows useraccount. Also created a new profile, that doesn't help either because bookmarks keep getting synced between two different accounts each on a different PC and I don't seem to get it right. Looked at the different devices that should sync under each account, that seems to be OK. But everytime I make a change in the bookmarks on one of the PC's with it's own account the other one also gets changed under that different account. Can someone help me by taking it step by step, so I can understand what it is I am doing wrong?

Where are my saved websites saved? Also, am I able to "share" the file over my LAN? I have a desktop PC and a laptop connected to my network. What I would like to do is make it so whether I save (or bookmark?) a site on the laptop or desktop it is available on both. Does this make sense? If I need to do a better job explaining just let me know. Currently, I am successfully sharing the IE 'Favorites' folder so the links are always in sync and the same links are available on both of my machines.

Hi, please could I have some help with the following?
I had firefox installed on the same partition as the windows I booted from. Due to an error this partition would no longer boot and I had to install windows and firefox clean on a seperate drive.
I've managed to get the partition working again and can access all the files on it again. Unfortunately when i load up the firefox on the previously failed partition it appears to load up the same version as I installed most recently. None of my old book marks are in the menu which is what I am trying to access. I've looked on here for help and the following don't seem to apply to me...
- There's no profiles folder in the old partition so I can't find Places.sqlite. - Troubleshooting>Show Folder points to the application data on the new install drive - There doesn't appear to be backup.json files on the old partition
So my question is is there anywhere on the old partition you can think where my old bookmarks may be stored?
Any suggestions would be appreciated Many thanks JD

But with FF17, the Description field is no longer there. You can only find it when managing your bookmarks, that is not really user friendly.
Is there a way to add again the description field when clicking on the gold star? It's very useful for adding notes about this website, and it's also synch with addins like Xmarks

I accidentally replaced my backup with the current bookmarks while trying to import from it. The original bookmarks were not present in Bookmark Backup in Profiles so I used Recuva for recovery. Now, Firefox gives the 'Unable to process backup file' thingy.
System Restore hasn't helped either.

For several days, "my bookmarks" are not being displayed in my Firefox home page. There is a message displayed in a small window indicating possible causes, however: I do not use Norton Firewall or any other Norton product Javascript is enabled
I use a my.myway.com homepage which displays correctly in Internet Explorer but not in Firefox.
My computer is Windows 7 64-bit.

I have Firefox 12 with the Sidebar Bookmark Selector 2.3 app. They've been running together for atleast a few years now. Starting last week when I open my bookmarks I'll get underlines going through any that I run over with the mouse in an upwards fashion. If I go up 10 bookmarks, there will be ten underlines. If I go back down through them, they all erase. What the heck is going on?? Any google search with the words "Firefox" and "underlining" will only bring you to an answer of going into tools, options, colors, and unchecking the underlining box. This is not it. This is driving me mad! Any suggestions? I don't even know at this point if it has anything to do with either one of them at this point.

I recently began using Xmarks with Firefox 16 on a Windows 7 platform. I got some sort of an error message (I think from Xmarks) regarding "Bookmarks". I clicked on the message to fix the problem and zapp all my bookmarks were gone. I found my "bookmarksbackup" profile file. but can't get it to open. I suppose that I need a JSON viewer. I downloaded a opensource viewer that looked good, but still don't get anything that remotely resembles my old bookmarks. I thought that I might be the victim of a virus, but I'm probably just the victim of my own ignorance.
