I have the bookmarks tool bar open with the ability to click on the two arrows on the right to see additional bookmarks. I have recently tried to bookmark some links like I always do and they don't show up in the toolbar. Anyone else have this problem? I did not change any settings. Did the recent update change some settings I don't know about or is this a bug. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!!!

I've had a smooth ride with firefox sync for a few years now and I have admired how quick and safe it has been. I was a long time xmarks user. However today it went off the rails. I booted a virtual machine for the first time in years and while on that vm I used firefox. That copy of firefox had never had sync enabled and the bookmarks were very old. I uncautiously turned sync on, thinking that it'd favor the current bookmarks over years old bookmarks. Nope. Now I find all of my active instances of firefox (all windows flavors) have bookmarks from 2016. Two things.

1. 1 What's the best way to restore my current bookmarks? I have backups from last night and maybe even more recent. I know how to restore bookmarks...but I'm concerned that sync will just repeat the same error and adjust to the 2016 set.
2. 2 How did this happen? I have gotten to trust sync so much that I just enabled on the old firefox without taking any precautions. That was probably a mistake plain and simple - sync is complex and that sort of gap in dates could be unanticipated. But still it seems odd that sync would favor an ancient set over the current set.

Firefox is a great browser and sync is part of that greatness. Thank you mozilla.

firefox browser history disappeared after deleting appdata temp folder. windows 10 pc using ccleaner i "cleaned" the ...\appdata\local\temp\ folder all browser history has disappeared is gone. i have 4 firefox profiles and even the 2 profiles that i have not used in more than 8 months have been wiped clean. unfortunately the appdata branch is not part of any of my backup routines. i had always thought that the FF profiles contained all the browser history and was rather shocked to see all my curated history was gone. fortunately i did not loose the extensive bookmarks. why would browser history be stored only in a temp folder? any ideas??

I updated my firefox to the latest version : Version 92.0 Now in Bookmarks Toolbar (Show more bookmarks) i have a problem about double Space between bookmarks. This is really really annoying. How can i fix that double space issue?

I tried browser.proton.contextmenus.enabled > false (disables Proton UI of context menus) Did not work for me.

After last update where the bookmarks bar was is now just a message as shown below saying to place bookmarks here but won't display prior ones or let me add new ones. Also, the >> on the right side that showed a dropdown of them is gone.

I followed the steps in order to be able to restore the bookmark folders, I found the latest backup, but when I do that nothing changes. Please advise Thank you Eleni

Hi I have version 86.0 (64-bit) on Windows 10 2004. My issues is that there is supposed to be a right click menu option to remove the new Other Bookmarks folder form the bookmarks toolbar but I do not have that option.

My username on reddit is tharmalzombie and I asked that and the community provided a few things to try sadly no solution provided worked.

Another thing I tried not mentioned in the reddit post was to restart firefox in safe mode with addons disabled this did not help either.

I am not the only one with this issue as another user commented with same problem so there must be others.

In trying to fix a Mozilla VPN problem, I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox as directed by VPN support. Now Firefox has lost its bookmarks. Can they be recovered? If so, how?

I have a Dell Windows 10 laptop. I read that the Firefox bookmarks are stored in the places.sqlite database. I deleted places,sqlite from the Old Firefox Data> vs1vf21j.default-1591989997105 folders, but when I opened my Firefox browser, the bookmarks were still there. Is this the place where bookmarks are stored?

This morning I started Firefox (78) in Windows 10 Pro (10.0.18363) I got a red message saying that something was wrong with my Bookmarks and click here to fix Did that twice Tried to do a fix that removed and then reinstalled a couple of files (can't find the fix nor the files location) that didn't work although it did replace the files. Still no bookmarks I am logged into my Firefox and synch is on.

I got a new computer and am moving my profile to new computer(W10 to W10). The old profile is 464MB, mostly in Storage/Default 234MB I think this is a lot and want to slim it down. I want to keep bookmarks and have it auto recall previous sites I have visited. Can I keep the bookmarks and auto recall, but delete some of the files? These files are big also, places.sqlite, webappstore.sqlite, favicons.sqlite Thank you very much.

I had to delete the content on my computer and restart. All my Firefox bookmarks are deleted and I wonder if its possible to get them back. I did probably not have a firefox account. But all bookmarks are saved on my computer in a folder. Thank you for helping. Regards Magne

Hi, I have lost the "file, edit, history, bookmark ect" I have tried to resolve this myself but all the help on the forum starts with click on the "3 vertical bars" I do not have this option, all I have is 3 dots which directs to "settings" which offers no help for the bookmark toolbar ? I have trolled the FF help pages but they all say the same thing to start with the "3 bar" icon. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've been using FF for 9yrs and have had no problems at all. Thankyou in advance.

How can I put bookmarks in the toolbar at the top where it used to be? When I bookmark to the toolbar I can omly find them by clicking Bookmarks and clicking on toolbar in the drop down.

Good afternoon. My Firefox has been updated to the new version but I noticed that the font size in my bookmarks dropdown menu has increased. I would prefer to make it smaller as it used to all fit in one column without the need to scroll. Could someone tell me how, or if this can be done with the new version? I foolishly clicked on Refresh and when it was done I had lost all bookmarks and history. I am at my wits' end trying to get back to where I was and will never do that again. Considering I am 80 years old I know for a fact there are probably a lot of things I won't be doing again but I would like to just go back to where I was. I am no longer able to get into Facebook which isn't going to cause the Earth to spin off its axis but I have several friends I really enjoy staying in touch with and it isn't possible to even enter FB now. I have tried everything, read all directions, followed all orders, jumped through all hoops (great Kodak moment for those of you with cameras) and I have failed.

I know that someone here, probably many of you, are more knowledgeable with the way this works and I would just enjoy being able to contact these two friends and get their emails, the FB connection isn't all that important. Now my question is and feel free to laugh but could this Refresh have caused some glitch in the innards of something or other that would cause this problem?

If any of you could help out a senior here I would be most appreciative.

Hello. After a reinstallation of W10, I imported in Firefox the file "bookmarks.html" that I saved before this installation. Usually it works very well, but this time, there are no more bookmarks in my menu after the import than before ! It looks as there was nothing in my file Bookmarks.html, however I am sure that this file is complete because I verified it in Excel (.csv). What happens ?... Thank you by advance to the community ! Since a recent Firefox update, Firefox has alpha-sorted my bookmarks automatically and I cannot turn this new feature off - this is annoying!

I want to custom organise the order of my bookmarks - NOT by alpha-sorting.

The 'sort by name' menu option does not have a counter option - ie 'DO NOT sort bookmarks'

So how do I turn off book mark sorting ???

I am running firefox 82.0.2 and I cannot export my bookmarks to html

When I take the jon file and check it on another browser many bookmarks are missing like a lot

Is there a tool I can use that will export my bookmark -- so the job gets done and I will remove my current version of firefox
