Since this week's update of Firefox Developer edition when the browser is restarted tabs do not load until I reset the browser.

I suspect an add-on but have not been able to determine which one.

This is happening on multiple (3) physical computers.

I just started a new work role and haven't been able to find the time to troubleshooting of the issue myself.

This has been very disrupting and stressful.

Hello, I used to use FireFox consistently. Then I noticed a downgrade in performance. I checked Task Master and saw this FireFox with 45 entries. With few CPU entries, but over 3 Gigabytes of Memory usage. Why would that be, and what can I do to correct it and still be able to use FireFox?

Is there a way to have Firefox start with all, or all but the first tab unloaded?

My Firefox starts with about 100 tabs open and many of these now have ads running which makes Firefox very slow. It seems to take ages and ages for all the tabs to load.

Maybe if all the tabs were unloaded when I start Firefox it would be quicker to get up and running??

I'm running Windows 11 on a desktop with an i5 CPU and 32 GB of RAM.

Any help much appreciated.

I have Firefox running on 3 machines, only one of them is synced to my Firefox account, so that means that I am not running the same addons on all of them. I have Firefox running on Windows 10 and the two other are running on Windows 11. From time to time, I notice that Firefox is running slow and its unable to open normal websites like facebook, instagram, youtube, or any other website that I normally browse, and when I check the Task Manager I can notice one unusual exe running named "crashhelper.exe" which is located in the Firefox installation directory and its signed by Mozilla. Once I kill this task Firefox continues working as nothing happened. This is happening since the last update which was few weeks ago (if I remember correctly). What is this app doing and why it is making Firefox stop opening websites?

Since a month or so, Firefox browser freezes when playing youtube videos. Simply closing the app and restarting won't do the trick, I am forced to open the WIN Task Manager and manually "end task" before I can watch youtube videos again ... until an hour later, or lucky a day later, the same drama unfolds. I run the newest version of each, Firefox and Windows 11. No new extensions or plugins have been added recently. What is to do here? I'm since Netscape on this route and would hate to switch to another browser... :-) Thanks in advance!

I'm running the latest version of Windows 10 and Firefox 143.0.1.

I recently bought my first OLED monitor, so I enabled auto-hide taskbar in Windows to try and reduce the chance of burn-in. However, while it works for the most part, it seems to often break in Firefox where the taskbar will hide, but not reappear when I move my mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen.

You can replicate this issue by having FF not maximised, then dragging its window titlebar to the top of the screen and letting go in order to maximise it. At that point, the taskbar no longer pops up when you mouse over the bottom of the screen.

Many thanks for any help you can give.

I know this probably sounds odd but I'm not imagining it. I like many people I live with many tabs open at once. Since the 143 update I come back to my computer the next morning and many of my tabs, specifically my gmail tab and many others will not work. (Oddly I've noticed some random tabs will still work, I have no idea why) I can close the tab and try to reopen gmail in a new tab and it just sits there trying to open but it will not. I've waited 20 minutes. Not until I close firefox and restore my last session will it again work properly. Is there a bug/glitch or is there some setting I need to adjust. I don't want to have to close my firefox everyday. Edge is not having this same issue, so I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with my specific machine. It's like Firefox just decides to quit when I go to bed. I know it sounds crazy.

I have removed Firefox and installed fresh the latest version 137.0.1 to address the issue of not being able to start a new tab or a new window. I am writing this from the initial window that opens when Firefox is launched. If I try to open a new tab it will hang with the blue circle displaying. If I click anywhere on the window if will grey out the background and display the error message :

Firefox is not responding

if you close the program, you might lose information

-> Close the program -> Wait for the program to respond

Tried waiting and it never comes back. Only option is to close the program. After that there is a message that is reporting the issue to Microsoft.

I'm unable to do much with Firefox now.

Chrome works fine. I'm using it (unfortunately) now in order to contact you.

When using FIrefox, it starts and does some partial loading, but then stops responding. On the default Firefox startup, about 1/2 of the "thought provoking story" pictures load. If I go directly to Youtube, for example, again....it starts loading then "hangs".

I can't close Firefox either: the window closes, but it's still running. If I attempt to restart it after closing, I get a "Firefox still running" error (which also won't close it.) Windows task manager will shut down the 5-10 (it varies) Firefox processes.

Tried checking for updates. That also gets stuck trying (let it try for about 10 minutes). Don't see any "reinstall" option.

Tried "Refresh Firefox" (fails....Firefox won't close). Tried "Clear startup Cache)" (same) Tried "Troubleshooting Mode)" (same)

Should I delete it and download again?

I have Firefox (always updated to the latest version) and I have noticed a memory leak that EATS up RAM. I have 1 tab open, playing a set spotify playlist. within 24 hours of rebooting the machine, Firefox has swallowed 7gb of my Memory as shown in Activity Monitor/Memory Pressure. I've been having this issue for some time, updates to MACos make no difference either. NO other program does this. I've tested the same playlist in other browsers, Chrome, Safari, uses 1gb, brave/opera uses less than 500mb and they've been open for over a week. This memory leak is a bug in Firefox. I've seen it before (other software, mainly on Windows) but never like this on a Mac......How do I escalate this?

Several weeks ago Firefox worked normally for me. I left for most of the day and when I got home Firefox no longer worked at all. Everything on my home page was gone and when I typed in websites - such as my e-mail program or Facebook, nothing ever came up. I'm not super browser savvy, but I opened the menu and under help was "trouble shooting mode". I didn't know what that was but figured nothing much more could go wrong with Firefox, so I chose that. I had to rebuild the websites I had in a row on the middle of the page. I didn't lose bookmarks, but everything else was different. So I left it that way.

Earlier today, Firefox wanted me to do another update. I thought maybe by agreeing to that, things might return to normal. Noooooooo. It's no better whatever. Now I don't know how to get out of troubleshooting mode to know if anything will work normally again.

I am seriously considering switching browsers, but I have a LOT of stuff bookmarked and that would be very intensive to build all those book marks in another browser.

Hi, After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my laptop, I’ve noticed that the battery drains much faster than before. I haven’t changed any settings, but the browser seems to consume more power even with just a few tabs open.

I’ve already tried:

Restarting my laptop

Disabling unnecessary extensions

Clearing cache

But the issue is still there. Is there any specific setting or workaround to reduce battery usage in the new update?

Thanks in advance!

Ever since I got 133.03 my Dell cpu freezes a lot. Over the last hour it froze 15 times. This is terrible reliability.

I hired Dell Tech Support and they checked my software and there were no issues. I have run advance Norton features and there are no problems. Therefore the issue is NOT with my 20 month Dell computer.

Firefox has always been reliable until late August. For four weeks it would freeze and lock up. by the end of Sept it was slightly better and then fine in November. Now it only freezes, put the mouse over the image and it freezes. Play with it for a while and it unlocks.

I am totally fed up with Firefox. I'll be starting my taxes soon and year end things and can't afford to have all these issues and rebooting to help eliminate the issue.

When is Firefox tech support going to help me? When is Firefox going to fix the issue? After Christmas I am looking into the Microsoft software......enough is enought!
