Everything is gone from the browser today. There is no content in the menu at the top right, except for keyboard shortcuts. When I type in the search bar, nothing happens, and clicking the + to open a new tab does nothing either. My account is still showing at the top, I am signed in and the profile looks fine. I can't "refresh" the browser from the menu, as that is not an option.

UPDATE: FIXED - Today, April 13 - everything is back - I guess Firefox fixed itself.

Previously, had no problem loading YouTube videos in multiple tabs, switching between them and them playing their videos with no freezing , pausing or buffering. Since the last upgrade loading a single YouTube video causes it to freeze and continually buffer. And Firefox is spawning multile copies of itself in task manager. (One instance had 15 copies.)

Whenever I launch a YouTube video, It starts then the whole page freezes. No links work and no menus shows up when I click my mouse. I can do nothing to get the video to unfreeze. All I ca do is close the window.

I’ve recently noticed that after a Firefox update, the browser has become very slow and unresponsive whenever I open multiple tabs, around 5–10. Before this update, I could open many tabs without any noticeable lag.

Now, new tabs take a long time to load, scrolling within open tabs feels choppy, and sometimes Firefox freezes for a few seconds before responding again.

I’ve already tried restarting Firefox, disabling extensions one by one, and clearing the cache, but none of these steps have improved the performance. I’m using Windows 10 and the latest version of Firefox.

Could anyone suggest what settings or troubleshooting steps I can try to fix this slowdown?

For some weeks now, the "File" menu randomly opens by itself then closes a second or two later. It seems to happen once I get focus on a page. For example, if I open a new tab then go to Google and ask a question, once the answer is returned, within a second or two the File menu drops down then closes again. I have the latest version of FF (149.0), 64-bit under Windows 10. There are a couple of settings in about:config that were suggested to be changed by ChatGPT but this hasn't made any difference.

After the version 149, a very strange issue happens to me with Firefox. When I try to log in to some services (Google account, WhatsApp, Mozilla account) the browser freezes. That does not happen if I turn the hardware acceleration off so I essentially thought there is some issue with my graphics drivers which I then updated (Nvidia 580.142 drivers for Geforce GTX 960). But what is very strange is that the issue isn't present when I use Firefox in private mode! That means: Normal mode, HW acceleration on -- freezing Normal mode, HW acceleration off -- not freezing Private mode, HW acceleration on -- not freezing I switched to the ESR version now which works fine too. Still, I am curious about what is going on and I would like to find a solution. My system is fully updated Arch Linux. I cannot share my data since I can't log in to my Mozilla account. Using cmd-tilde keys on MacBook Pro to change front viewed page no longer works reliably under Tahoe. Any workaround? Also, Firefox sometimes freezes Navigation between programs, and the only way to navigate is to quit Firefox. I'm on Tahoe 26.4 MacBook Pro 2023 M2 Max. Thanks.

An aggressive website can cause "isolated web co" processes to be started. When they hog all processors and memory, the computer besomes unresponsive. Keyboard and mouse freezes up.

Is there a way to limit firefox processes to n-1 processors, leaving 1 processor available for me to kill it ?

I love Firefox and have used it forever. But its memory usage is killing me lately and I'm seriously reconsidering.... PC, Win11, Intel7, 16GB memory. (I'm typing this from Chrome)

I've updated, restarted, but it keeps maxing out and slowing my computer to a crawl. Somebody please tell me there's a fix pending?
