I recently experienced this issue, and found no solution on googling it. I noticed too that others had the same issue. Having just experienced and fixed it again, here are my observations;
Cause: I have my Firefox set to remember last session. Occasionally, I X out of my main window not realising that there was an ad popup underneath (even though I use adblock). These ads, for whatever reason, have the ability to hide the bookmarks toolbar in their window. That means when you close and reopen, even if you went to a normal site, the bookmarks stay off. It will persist through reinstalls and all kinds of workarounds in my experience.
Fix: Refresh Firefox. Click the Three lines, Help, then Troubleshooting Information. Here you can manually refresh firefox, and it will open with your bookmarks showing again (and a few minor cosmetic things go to default, so you may have to re-tick menu bar and customise how you like your main buttons to look etc). I didn't try this with anything other than having one tab open on google the last time it happened to me.
Not a question, but hopefully useful for anyone who has experienced this, wasn't sure where else to put it.

My screen was hijacked by something lacked look like Mozilla/Firefox heading saying it was taking a survey and I couldn't get out of the screen. So I took the survey and entered my credit card info for a sum of $1.00 (one dollar) for a chance to win an iPhone. Instead I got a charge on my credit card from lstfl.com for $33.+ dollars saying it enrolled me in a sex site. That is NOT what I imagined. And it came under Mozilla/Firefox name. Can you go after this site as it is operating under your name and logo. Thank you

Is there any way to prevent a website from redirecting me to a SPAM website? Some websites will do that even if you right click on a link that you wanted to open in a new tab. Hello, Ive got Quantum 63.01 running on macbook pro. Yahoo barging in as the 'default search engine'. I go to my preference page I delete it, google is back to being my default search engine. A few days later, boom- there is yahoo again showing up as the default. This goes on several times a week, and its driving me nuts. If I didnt like yahoo before, I really hate them now. Ive gone through all of your solutions, there is nothing in my extensions or add-ons that shouldnt be there. So why does this continue to happen? I need to get rid of yahoo now. I even ran yahoo through the finder and there is nothing on my laptop for yahoo. Isnt there a script I can look for in firefox that can be deleted or something?? Any and all help is truly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Lately, every morning when I open my laptop ( I only use blank screen) Firefox is already open to the http://kbb.com website. This is on a Windows 10 laptop. I cannot find anywhere in Firefox settings that is telling this site to start up nor any reason for Firefox to even be open. I definitely shut Firefox down when I'm finished browsing. There are some 'Recent Highlights" and one of them is showing that page, but I am unable to remove them.

Firefox has begun opening a new tab, when I click on a link, e.g. a new article in the Times and then asks if I will allow it. These are usually ads or questionnaires which I do not want to open. But I have to jump to that new tab to close it. This is an annoying nuisance, and did not use to happen.

A fix might include the immediate transfer to a link when selected. Animations, videos, and advertisements have ruined the browsing experience I have enjoyed since 1998.

I was watching Netflix in a single FireFox tab (no new tabs were open), fell asleep, woke up, and there was a new tab open that thanked me for (supposedly) installing this extesnion. I check the Add-ons Manager and it had been installed as an add-on into my FireFox Browser without my knowledge or permission. I live alone, no one was visiting, and my cats aren't -that- savvy! Ha!
There is no excuse for this. Please ban this Jason Savard creep by every means possible, including by his computer's IP address, any smart devices he uses, etc. If you're able to track down his ISP, please report his activities to them, as this kind of activity is illegal and likely against his ISP's policies.
Please also include a reporting system in your Add-ons/Extensions page, or include a "Report Abuse" link on the pages for each extension that FireFox users come up with. I'm not happy about having to "post a question" in order to communicate this problem to you.
PS. I have tried to upload a screen shot of what I saw when I first woke up, however, your image uploading tool is not working. It pretends to upload a file, but even at a high upload speed for my ISP, it can't handle a simple .jpg screen shot (1400 x 900 dpi on a 17" screen). Please fix this issue as well. If you want the screen shot, please email me so I can reply to that email with the .jpg screen shot file. I'm not going to sit here forever waiting for some silly uploading-in-progress icon to never change to "Done" or whatever.

I think over a year ago I may have accidentally downloaded it, but haven't since and have ran all kinds of anti-virus and malware removal programs. I suspect this is the result of malware because Microsoft Security Essentials automatically pops up and says I was protected from something.
Anyone else have this problem? I've ran Microsofct Security Essentials, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, AdwCleaner, and Stinger. They don't seem to find anything.
