When I wan't to use add-ons in Firefox for Mac, they just don't work. I can install them but they do not open. I have tried re-installing Firefox, installing the Firefox Beta (which supports Apple Silicon but crashed a lot) and restarting my computer, as well as re-installing the Add-Ons. Nothing works. How can I fix this?

Firefox version - 82.0.03 64bits

I applied the -no-deelevate fix when I last upgraded and that worked ok Yesterday I ran Windows update - always a bad idea I know - and fixed the problems that caused, but now Firefox will no longer allow picture drag and drop. This IS a firefox issue because Chrome still works ok without any elevation command.

I have also done this: browser.launcherProcess - turn off, then turn back on

Any ideas please ?

A few days ago I found that Captcha was not working in Firefox on a Mac. I click on the relevant squares but get a new screen to work on. It just goes on and on and no matter how many screens I complete it won't let me through. It works fine on other browsers.

I hate Captcha and can't understand why webmasters can't use a better system to check that a viewer is a real person.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Hello. I can't find my bookmarks after update 76. I followed the directions, and I ouldn't find anything. I searched my computer and all my drives for json files and 'bookmarks', and I found backups from 2001, 2013, and I know I have backups 'older' than those on discs, but the ones missing (so far) are the most important and complete ones from the past 7 years. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but update 76 'seems' to necessitate syncing devices. I only have reason to browse on my desktop, so I didn't plan on syncing it with anything. I 'do' have a smartphone, but other than downloading malwarebytes and one other app, that I need, that's the extent of my 'online' activities on the phone. However, since I couldn't find my bookmarks without doing so, I decided to download Firefox onto my phone and try to sync them up. When I signed up for the Firefox account earlier, I changed my password with a password generator. However, my phone doesn't have all the characters on its keyboard that are in my password. You can customize the keyboard, but it looked like a magnificent pain to do so. Instead, it seemed easier to 'dumb down' my password from 40 characters down to around the minimum, at least until I got them synced. However, I tried twice with typing visible on the phone and it said the password was wrong, so instead of trying a third time, and getting locked out of Firefox - I came here to see if anyone could help me. I know that rebooting often corrects a lot of things, but since I don't have these bookmarks backed up anywhere - I was afraid this might be a case where it may make the bookmarks more difficult or impossible to retrieve. Thanks in advance.

When I click on any Zoom link in Firefox 83 on Linux, nothing happens. It seems like Firefox has no idea that the zoommtg:// protocol exists.

I've tried:

  • checking that Firefox is not installed from a snap
  • manually setting the network.protocol-handler.expose.zoommtg and network.protocol-handler.external.zoommtg preferences to true
  • running xdg-open 'zoommtg://...' in a terminal (this works fine, it's how I finished the Zoom SSO login)

I've been having this issue ever since the latest release of firefox.

Essentially it will be fine for a while and then all of a sudden firefox is unable to retrieve any headers from the fetch response. If I refresh firefox this fixes the issue, but only for a small amount of time. The same bug doesn't happen on chrome and I haven't had it happen to me yet on firefox developer edition. It happens if I use this browser on private browsing with no plugins as well.

Note that we do use a fetch wrapper but it essentially returns the entire response object in the screenshots below.

Also note that it doesn't seem to happen anywhere but localhost. Is there anything I can do here?

Hey y'all,

First, thanks for your attention. This has been driving me nuts over the last few weeks and if I can fix it I'd be very happy.

I switched to Firefox a few months ago and immediately set up the password manager and a bunch of bookmarks. Unfortunately, the next time I shut down my computer and restarted, Firefox said this browser was a new installation and had totally reset, with nothing saved.

This happened again a second time, so I set up a Firefox Account so I could have the settings saved to a profile rather than an installation.

Every time I restart the same thing happens: Firefox has a 'new installation' and none of my settings. The first time I logged in to my Firefox account to sync it, it worked. But I've just installed Catalina, previously using Mojave, and on that restart it happened again, but the Firefox account sync isn't doing anything. Now, every time I open up the browser, even if I haven't restarted the computer, it brings me to the same 'new installation' screen. When I log in to my Firefox account as prompted, none of my previous information syncs. Nothing happens at all after I get the "This Firefox is connected" screen.

I know the sync is at least somewhat connected because I can sync tabs from my phone to my computer.

Any ideas? I can re-do all of my passwords and bookmarks, but I don't want to bother if it isn't getting saved anywhere, or if I can't stop this factory reset whenever my computer shuts off.

I'm on a Macbook running Catalina 10.15 if that matters. Thanks!

Abby

Why does Firefox delete ALL history when it asks if you'd like to clear RECENT history. I was silly enough to click on a phishing link and although I exited as soon as I realised nothing was happening, I asked my security system provider if there was anything I could or should do. Could I login to my bank account, for instance. They suggested removing the item from my browser history. So when I saw the option to delete RECENT history, I thought that would be OK - I didn't need anything I had visited recently. But when I looked I noticed that it had cleared the lot!!

So I've recently updated to v83 and find out that that annoying address bar is back. I don't really want to use Chrome.css because I'm not good at programming or anything like that and I am afraid I might break my browser.

I have the solutions for v77 on my about:config and tried toggling them true/false and restarting my computer but I think Firefox "fixed" those workarounds.

Anybody have any new suggestions? Or am I stuck with this (I wouldn't mind it so much but it goes to it automatically when I open a new tab and that annoys me. I'm happy the history part of the workaround is still working cause I do NOT want anyone knowing my history. That's my business not theirs).
