Greetings, One of the arguably most useful gestures for laptop users is still missing/broken on Firefox on windows. It's the two-finger swipe that allows to navigate forward or backward in history by swiping left or right.

This feature is present in Chrome and even Edge since many months, yet it has never worked on Firefox, on any of my windows devices.

I've been using Firefox Dev since 12+ months, keeping both it and windows 10 always up to date, the gestures never worked (yet they are activated in the about:config page, see attached images).

What's most disappointing is that the gestures work without any issue on the MacOS version of Firefox.

some useful info: Firefox version: 94.0b3 (latest as of today) Windows version: 21H1 build 19043.1266 (latest as of today)

If someone manages to get the two-finger swipe gesture to work on windows please let me know.

I hope this can get fixed soon, especially because the feature seems to be already built into Firefox, it just doesn't work in the windows release. In the meanwhile I'm switching to chrome

When dowloading an AAX type file from Audible, Firefox changes it to MP4 (downloads as AAX with other browsers).

Note, changing the file type after the download fixes the problem. But, is there a way to prevent it from happening in the first place? Also, why changing file type in the first place?

I thought Pocket's articles were supposed to be non-commercial, if "Sponsored stories" is turned off in the settings?

And yet Pocket has just recommended a highly commercial link that's far removed from a genuine article, and reads exactly like an advert. (https://www.inverse.com/entertainment/leaving-netflix-september-2021-star-trek-enterprise)

This "article" basically just forcibly tells the reader "YOU NEED TO" sign up to the premium video website "Netflix", without any explanation of why. Patently, it was funded by whatever company owns Netflicks.

The article also makes the outrageous claim that the TV show in question is "the most controversial sci-fi show on Netflix", but completely fails to back this up with facts, or any explanation at all. It's clearly just marketing rhetoric to generate interest in the show, because the show in question (which is 20 years old) was notoriously bland, isn't even remotely controversial, no one is talking about it, and there is absolutely no logical reason to re-watch it right now.

The article also tries to give the impression that the only way to watch this 20-year-old TV show is to sign up to the premium website Netflicks and watch it on a computer screen - which is absurd given that the show is constantly syndicated on TV around the world, and readily available on all home formats including DVD and Blu-ray.

I would like to know how I can complain about this to Mozilla, because it isn't right at all. If by some chance, this article was non-commercial, it would be a truly terrible, dishonest, badly-written article which completely lacked a point or purpose. But it's so obviously commercial.

I found countless other disingenuous "articles" on that site, all doing a similar thing with other TV shows—driving commerce to Netflicks under the pretense of a false sense of urgency. Mozilla should have nothing to do with garbage like this.

Today using Firefox 93.0 on my Windows 10 home computer I opened the browser to my Audible library on Audible.com and selected a book to download. The browser download window opened with the book file name but the extension wasn't .AAX but had been changed to .MP4. This did not happen when I used Microsoft Edge nor did this happen on my Windows 10 laptop which was still running Firefox 92.0. Once Firefox upgraded to 93.0 on my laptop I now get the same problem as I get on my home computer.

Audible technical support looked into the problem and found that this change wasn't caused by their servers.

I have discovered that if I change the file extension from MP4 to AAX I can load the audible book into iTunes and sync it over to my iPhone which is able to play the file as an audible book. This indicates to me that the actual AAX file was not converted to MP4. For some reason only the file extension was changed.

I wasn't able to find any setting in the Firefox browser that corrected this problem.

Firefox Browser uprated to 92.0 today. Previously whilst browsing Ad's were showing; today I have no Ad's displayed but have not enabled an Ad Blocker on Firefox. A site I use extensively cannot now be properly viewed; I get a message to turn off Ad Blocker. I have set Enhanced Tracking Protection to 'Off' but am still unable to obtain full functionality, I am using standard Firefox Privacy settings otherwise. I am able to browse the site properly using MS Edge. I have deliberately refrained from using any AD Blocking on my part so as to ensure the site in question can be properly viewed. The only Firefox extension being used is Kaspersky Protection; I get the turn off Ad Blocker message both when Kaspersky Protection is on or off.

Firefox needs a limit on memory usage. I was developing a tiny web page on Linux (PopOS) and accidentally created an endless loop in Javascript that ate memory (by growing an array). My entire OS became inoperable and had to be hard-rebooted. I was surprised this could happen due to Javascript (a sandboxed browser language), running in a web page (a sandboxed app) running in a Firefox browser that is supposed to protect users from the world wild web. One errant line of legal Javascript in HTML should not equate to a denial-of-service attack.

A sensible approach would be similar to the nice warning given when a script takes too much CPU, offering the user the choice to continue or stop the script when a tab exceeds some reasonable size: a fixed MB size, or say 10% of real RAM memory.

Ideally there should also be some hard limit calculated by Firefox according to the machine's available memory and Firefox's reasonable percentage of it. For example, maybe limit Firefox (all tabs combined) to 50% or maybe 75% of real memory, so that the O/S has a reasonable chance to remain operational so that a bad tab can be closed. Otherwise, Firefox could cause the O/S to lock up, resulting in data loss if there are tabs or other apps outside of Firefox that have unsaved changes.

Thanks for your consideration!

I purchase audiobooks on Audible.com using my Mac (OS Catalina). When I download a purchase Firefox sends it as an MP4 file which is incompatible with the apps to play the audiobook. Safari and other browsers do no do this - the files come as an .aax file. Even after I have an .aax file I cannot play it using Firefox because Audible.com does not recognize my registered computer. I get an error message: Document "LicenseForCustomerToken" couldn't be opened. Incompatable with QuickTime Player. FYI: QuickTime Player is a video (MP4) player app on my computer. So, once again, Firefox makes the .aax file appear like an MP4 file to Audible. It's doing some kind of unrequested and unwanted conversion of .aax files to MP4.

I hope you can fix this in your next update. i've worked with Audible to solve this issue, but they cannot help and are telling me it is a "known issue" with Firefox and recommend I use a different browser.

Ironically since around the last Firefox update (approximately)... maybe around 4-5 months or so, I'll be working in Firefox (my browser of choice for like 15 years) and then all of a sudden, I'll try to open a tab to go to a new site, and "server not found" error. Suddenly Firefox is useless and won't load anything. Chrome works just fine, and so I know it's not an internet or wifi problem. So far the ONLY solution I can find is that I restart my machine. Sometimes this means I can use Firefox for a week, sometimes it's only a few hours before it happens again.

Here are things I've tried (and have not worked) based on various threads including Firefox's own help pages: 1) Tried to change network settings to "no proxy" 2) Ensured that the "network.dns.disablePrefetch" is set to "true" (also network.dns.PrefetchFromHTTPS). 3) Tried closing everything and exiting Firefox and restarting

All other solutions seem focused on OTHER problems (e.g., specific sites, all browsers don't work.) Any and all help would be more than welcome. I'm getting to the point that I'm going to just ditch firefox and port all my bookmarks over to chrome.
