I have Firefox as my default browser instead of Microsoft Edge on my HP laptop. I've tried everything under the sun to make Google my default search engine over Microsoft Bing, and no matter what it won't stop rerouting me to Bing. I can go to www.google.com and type directly in the search bar and it STILL reroutes me to Bing, even when my settings list Google as my default search engine of the search bar. Can I block Bing as a website altogether? HP support only offered to connect me with a specialized team that costs money. Please help.

In my location, my only option for internet access is a mobile hotspot with limited data. Consequently, I am always mindful of my data usage when using my laptop. Despite primarily browsing static pages, email, and other low-data activities, I often find my data usage higher than anticipated. The main culprit comes to mind to be videos embedded in news articles. Sometimes, with multiple tabs open, I switch to an inactive tab only to find a video playing. Although I've configured my Firefox preferences not to autoplay videos, it seems that YouTube videos still override these settings.

So, my question is, when a tab is inactive, does Firefox stop all data transfer for that tab in the background? And if not, what are the solutions to stop any background data other than continually closing all tabs?

Also, any suggestions on this topic are appreciated, especially from and to users who also live in remote areas without fiber, DSL, etc.

I thought I could turn off my ad blocker just for the Washington Post, but I discovered upon searching that I don't have an ad blocker installed. So why does the page freeze up when the ad at the side of my screen changes? This doesn't seem to happen on any of the other sites I use.

We have an intranet site behind an Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) - after updating the SSL certificate, the website will no longer allow Firefox clients to log in.

They will be prompted to sign in (with a default sign in prompt, not even the website login prompt), even if you enter the correct user/password it will continue to prompt you. The new cert works with Edge, Safari, and Chrome - I've enabled the following settings in about:Config network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris, network.negotiate-auth.delegation-uris, network.negotiate-auth.trusted-uris, and set signon.autologin.proxy to be true - but the issue still persists.

Has anyone seen this/been able to figure this out? I've seen a few other posts, but no resolutions. Does Firefox not support Certificate Signature Algorithm SHA-384 With RSA Encryption? This is the only difference I can see between the 2 certificates; the original is SHA-256 With RSA Encryption.

Thank you!

jscher2000 i think you are correct. The blue link in the PDF file is not a web link but a link to the specific attachment. It appears browsers are currently unable (not programmed) to access attachments directly. I tried in MS Edge with the same result. After contacting MS Support, MS stated that they are aware of the issue and that they are working to fix it in a future release of Edge.

Attachments can be accesses in Adobe Acrobat as you described, but it would be good to be able to access them directly from Firefox instead of having to save them and then using Acrobat.

how do I get rid of it? I NEVER WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN IN MY LIFETIME

Also, I just wanted to restore the Basic Toolbar- that mysteriously disappeared. There was no option for that under the hamburger & more tools. Instead I now have a 3rd toolbar because of the customization options -- & I don't know how to get rid of that/ It appears UNDER my tabs bar.

You may have heard about this, Youtube (and parent Google) have recently declared war on adblockers and non-Chrome browsers. I have reason to believe they have escalated that war to deliberately crash non-Chrome browsers, at least slowing them down to make them non-responsive.

In the past few days, browsing Youtube has caused my system to stop responding requiring a power cycle to clear the problem.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is this just a bad setting, or is Youtube acting as malicious as I believe them to be?

Hi Windows 11. Every time I open a new tab and make a search I get a field under the bookmarks for my google account. I do not want this. On the web it says I should go to account settings and scroll down to the Linked Accounts section. I cannot find that section. Elsewhere I read that I have to do something in my google account as well. How do I get rid of the field for my google account when searching in firefox, please?

Hello, I am writing this as I have yet to find any answers

My problem lies in the fact that while browsing on YouTube the ratio suddenly changed with no warning. When in a private window it does not change the ratio and I have no idea as to why. I have tried to restart both FireFox and my computer, but none of this have helped, I then tried disabling all my extensions, this also did not help, and as I have yet to find anything about this problem elsewhere I hope that I could get my answer as to why this has happened, and how to fix it

The first picture is the ratio that is the "normal" and the second is should be, does anyone have any answers?
