First, I completely uninstalled firefox completely, including all reg entries I found. I am now still having the same issue pop up again. When I restart the computer my firefox 20.0.01 reverts to 20.0 for no reason. It will not open links from e-mail saying that I must restart to complete an installation or complete an installation. I need to fix this as some things will not work. I have at least one add-on that is no longer available and I would like to find a way to back up all of my add-ons so that I can format the hard drive if there is not a better solution. I am hoping that someone can help.

I upgraded to firefox 4 on my windows 7 computer and the home page was automatically set to the firefox 4 about:home start page. The search engine is automatically set to avg secure search. I want to set it to google(like the old home page) but I dont see an option to change it. I am aware I could just find the url for the old start page and use that but it would be nice to use the new one. anyone know how to change it?

Is there anyway to disable the 'PluginCheck' website on firefox? It automatically opens up every time I open firefox. My home page also opens up as a separate tab so it's not the fact that my home page was changed (I also made sure in the settings). All my plugins are up to date so it's not that as well. It's extremely annoying. Help would greatly be appreciated.

After FF24 update some input fields just don't want to check me spelling. I have all dictionaries installed, but on some text arias i just don't have a spellcheck option. Only thing i have is "install dictionaries...". In some other *more simple* text fields everything works just fine. Most problematic are all kinds of visual html editors. In the most cases i have problem as i mentioned above, but if i open raw html window for exmple, the splellcheck function of FF24 works as it should. That what i mean by "more simple text fields" i.e. less visual formatting.

Any suggestions, please?

P.S. Tried on different PCs, with different browsers including Nightly. The result is the same on anything above 23.

Hello!

I've exhausted my resources trying to work around a bug between HTML5 player and Firefox, and I was hoping you could help.

My embedded videos, which primarily uses HTML5 player plays back extremely choppy with Firefox (when in full screen). I spent several hours consulting with lead technicians at Vimeo, and they informed me that there is an incompatibility with Firefox and HTML5. I then had a developer code the site to use Flash for Firefox, and HTML5 for all other browsers. Now my CSS for the videos no longer works, and I'm still trying to figure out a work around for this as well.

This does not feel good to use older technology to get my videos to work properly, especially since I've always seen Firefox as cutting edge (it's my favorite browser, you know ;)). I really wish I could go back to using HTML5 for ALL of my browsers, but I really cannot have the videos playing choppy.

Is there any information you could offer to help? I surely would appreciate it.

My website is thenourishedcook.com/dev. This is the last item to be completed before the site goes officially life. Hopefully soon!  :)

Thank you kindly, Sharon

When I do a google search, I get a bunch of results. However, when I click on a link, it goes to a different webpage - not the one shown on the search page. Sometimes it comes up at scour.com.

I looked up scour.com on Wikipedia, which states that there is a "redirect virus" that is infecting my computer. It cited "Mozilla Support." So, I am asking the Mozilla Forum - How do I get rid of the virus? McAfee is not finding and removing it, and neither is Malware Bytes anti-malware software. Any suggestions?

I've started getting the message below any time I try to use add-ons or plug-ins such as Google toolbar and Yoono.

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js:623

Neither the "cancel" nor the "stop script" button will make the warning box go away. Nothing but a reboot will. And any time I try to go to Tools-Add-ins, or use any Add-ins, the box comes back and I'm locked up again.

Rebooting does not solve the problem, and oddly, reinstalling Firefox does not solve the problem. I also opened Firefox in SAFE mode, and I still get the exact same problem.

I do like firefox better than IE, so I would love to have this problem fixed.

FF was acting normally all day, including YouTube. I viewed some instructional videos, and they played fine. Then in the evening, I went to YouTube, and FF started crashing constantly. Sometimes a video would play for a few seconds before crashing, other times FF would crash as soon as I clicked on something. I changed absolutely nothing, no settings, nothing since when it was working fine earlier in the day. Sometimes it crashes even when I'm not playing any video. I assume that some video on the site I'm on probably started automatically (ads).

I've been looking through tons of questions, threads, etc. The only thing I can find is that it's probably related to Flash. I've uninstalled it (v17), reinstalled v18, hardware acceleration is off, Windows updated, etc. I can't find anything else to try.

Below are the crash reports. There's only four because usually when FF crashes I usually don't take the time to submit the report, so these are all from today:

bp-21329c08-0ba9-4ded-b9bf-bb19e2150612 bp-1dd0fd8d-d04b-48d8-8d17-3c1a32150612 bp-141d79d4-8e59-4d81-96e0-3dd252150612 bp-c7dc4c7f-c7eb-46a9-87a7-e8b222150612

One of the crash reports noted this: Related Bugs

723133 VERIFIED FIXED Crash Report [@ PluginWndProcInternal ] stack overflow from infinite recursion

But I can't figure out what to do to fix it. Any ideas?

I am having issues with headers and other text on many sites, including popular sites such as Tumblr and Twitter. It has been noted that this is an issue with the Helvetica font and you must delete the font for Firefox to work properly.

This problem does not occur with ANY other browser except Firefox, and browsers are supposed to know to substitute fonts. This is an ongoing problem I have simply dealt with for a year at least until it started causing more and more problems with new sites I use. I'm a graphic designer. If I am forced to choose between a very popular font for my work or a malfunctioning browser with support that would rather duct tape the problem than give any real customer support, then I will definitely choose my font and a different browser more willing to fix its shortcomings.

Please let me know if there is any progress being made on this matter.

Ever since I upgraded to Firefox 4.01, it is like constantly crashing. Since upgrading in the last week, I have 35+ crash reports in about:crashes and none of them show crash signature, as shown on the web page in the crash id section when filling out this report.

I've tried to find a volunteer online during live chat this week but seems no one is there during the times listed. Tried Monday, Tues and yep, today - nada! :(

I've checked the various articles about Firefox 4 and the crashes. I have verified my graphics driver (Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family) is up to date. And have very minimal add-ons (as in almost none!) to the best of my knowledge.

Here are a sample of some of the crash reports to see/find the issue : (will list 3 of the 35+ for a sample)

Something very annoying and very surprising has occurred: over 3 months worth of browsing history has disappeared. Kind of. I'll start from the beginning. At about 10 o'clock Monday evening, I finished my day's worth of browsing and went to bed. Right before I closed Firefox, however, I checked my history to see how much I'd done that day. There was a lot, more than average for me; same thing with Sunday. So I leave the computer for the day, knowing that even though my history was steadily being deleted as I viewed more pages, as it was set to, it was all safe and there to be backed up when necessary. However, upon logging in at around 4 o'clock the next day (Tuesday) I noticed something peculiar: my location bar wasn't showing anything when I typed things in. Apart from the homepages for Google, Facebook, Youtube, etc., it would not take anything else. I typed in letters, words, and links, and nothing showed up. I pulled up my history, and saw that everything seemed to be in order; "December" was still available, as was January and this month. It was all there as far as I could see. I went away for about 4 hours as my dad came in to fix the faltering video card. Upon returning at 8 o'clock, I tried the location bar again, and still nothing. This time when I checked my history, I actually clicked on the months. What I saw shocked me. Today's history was still complete, obviously, as I hadn't done much to begin with. Clicking on Yesterday, however, I was very surprised to discover that it wasn't complete; over half was missing. Worried, I clicked on Last 7 days; then This month; then January and December. Staring at the screen, I simply couldn't believe that pretty much all my history had just vanished, and I hadn't even done anything. But then I realized something. The history was NOT gone, just missing (if that makes any sense). I went back to the location bar, and tried more letters and words; this time, I got some results. Checking to see if they were in my history, I found they weren't. Surprised at this, I went further and looked up a news article I read back in December, which no longer showed up in the history or location bar. Looking back into the history, I found that, as I suspected, it registered in the history in December as well as now. Another thing that strikes me as weird, is that, in both December and January, the only bits of history that show up are pages that I've revisited today. Because of this, there is no feasible way that these sections could have existed unless I didn't visit these pages again. But if that's true, then how were those sections still there? Today, I tried more pages, and again they pop up in their proper places despite not appearing before in the history. Various websites also pop up with different letters now in the location bar, despite the fact that if they were deleted they shouldn't be able to. I have read up on the places.sqlite file, which in my case, according to my computer, was created in February 2007. If my suspicions are correct, if I'm able to open that, I should be able to recover the history... right? Sorry for rambling, but this is very important to me in that the lengthy history assisted me in daily browsing because I was able to get to videos and links just by typing in a letter or a word. I have not deleted anything yet, just in case anything can be recovered. Or, even if recovery is impossible, if it's possible to VIEW the history, i.e. in a list of websites, I would be able to take them out and save them elsewhere and backup/add back at my leisure. I hope someone can help.
