I happen to get frequent crashes of Firefox.

It may have to do with having many tabs opens at once. (Maybe 150 or more). Is there a way you can verify if too many open tabs is causing crashes?

Then when I restart, and indicate to Firefox to do a restore, many times I will find that new tabs recently opened are not all restored.

Likewise, when I delete tabs, many times on a restore those 'deleted' tabs are 'restored' also!

I have tried to go though the tabs to delete them, thinking that fewer tabs might mean less crashes. But I have given up on that seeing that I often crash in the midst of doing deletions.

It's like a going in a circle.

After I've installed Firefox 29.01, my tabs and windows from the previous season is not restored. In addition "ctrl+shift+T" hotkey is not bringing back the closed tabs.

Under Options/General "Show my tabs and windows from last time" is selected. Options/Privacy/History is set to "Remember History" Under about:config, "browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand" is set to "true"

I tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox 29.01 and 30 beta 6. Same results. I installed no extensions during these trials.

When I check my profile folder, I see that sessionstore.js or sessionstore.bak are not created, neither while Firefox is running nor after I exit. I have tried with a new profile as well. Same problem with both profiles.

Three tabs keep opening although closed in previous sessions. That happens whichever method I use to have tabs open from the previous session, i.e. making the preference to open tabs from previous session OR to set the preference to a single tab and set the browser in about:config to give me the option to save tabs. The tabs are NOT in history.

Is there a solution to this problem?

Power went out and now FF has none of my tabs from previous session. I'm not positive and maybe someone was trying to help in my absence but I don't think I restarted FF twice without saving a backup copy of the .js lot. The last time I went through this was in Dec. 2016. I don't want to have to go there to restore. HELP

I switch to: "Show my windows and tabs from last time" when Firefox starts. This option is offered on Firefox General/Options page. "Show my windows and tabs from last time doesn't work". The "Firefox default page" appears instead. I do not want the default page & I did not pick it. I have been using Firefox for years & never had this problem before. Please help.

I have the most recent version of Firefox (29, I think) and when I just went to open my browser, my previous tabs were all gone. I have opened Firefox at least twice since I updated to the latest version and everything has been fine. The option to 'Restore previous session' is greyed out. I have tried going to the sessionstore.js and click on 'Previous Sessions' but it was empty. I tried to go into this folder again and received the follow error:

I had about 20 tabs open and am just sick that I lost them all.  The startup for FF is still set to 'Use my tabs from previous session'.  Help!

i tried to set firefox** to show restore session as I login but it does not and is NOT a high-lighted option in history either please help

Since updating to 58.2 over 40 of my users are all expericing the same multiple issues.

Firefox always launches with "Sorry, We're having trouble getting your pages back." even when closing properly and having no other tabs open. (Setting the privacy options as custom and selecting "Clear history when Firefox closes" has solved this issue but it's not ideal for the workplace, users like to have their history.

Firefox is slow and sluggish and often freezes.

If you close firefox and try to launch it again a few seconds later then it wont launch because there's still a version in the background trying to close which can take up to 20 seconds.

The bookmarks toolbar is always hidden on launch. You have to right click and show toolbar to retrieve it everytime.

Because of these issues I've had to put everyone on chrome however I'd really like to get to the bottom of them all to revert back to Firefox.

I have tried changing the selection and closing Firefox. Then changing it back and closing Firefox. My selection always shows correctly (the last selection I made) on in the "Options-General" page, but Firefox always starts as if "Show your windows and tabs from last time" is selected, regardless of the option chosen. Thanks in advance!

My firefox crashed and I guess it reset itself or something because when I opened it, the restore session option just came up blank. There were no pages to restore or anything. Anyways, I used Recuva and I have the recovery.bak file with all my lost tabs/windows in it. But I can't find any way to restore it.

I've tried renaming the recovery.bak to sessionstore.bak and replacing the file, but that didn't work. I've also tried editing all of the restore & session files with that as well. But when I open firefox, it comes up with the main homepage and the session restore option comes up, but that's blank! So it's still not restoring my pages. I don't know what to do and I could really use some help.

Hi guys, I'm a desktop Firefox user for many years now and am currently using version 39 on Windows 8.

I realized on some rare occasion (10% of less of the time), the "Restore previous session" button only partially restore the Tabs and Windows from my previous session.

For example, normally I have at least 4 windows of Firefox opened (each window having 10 Tabs say for example). To rephrase it, it's basically 40 Tabs spread on 4 separate Firefox windows. Now usually when I end my session and restore it the next time, 90% of the time all 4 windows (and 40 Tabs) will comes back.

But on rare occasions, one of the window will not every come back. Meaning only 3 windows comes back. The other window with all it's Tabs will be gone.

I find it quite strange. It had happened to me before on slightly older version of Firefox and windows 7.

Even though it happened not very often but it's kind of a problem because one of the window might contain really useful Tabs.

I would appreciate if anyone with any ideas or suggestions would kindly come forward and share it with me. Thank you so much !

So I launch Firefox, open multiple windows, Firefox crashes because of too many windows. When I reopen Firefox, I get the option to restore the previous session, which opens all of the windows that I had previously opened. Great.

So I launch Firefox, open multiple windows, Firefox crashes because of too many window, I reopen Firefox, have the option to restore the previous session, open multiple windows instead, Firefox crashes, rinse and repeat. Firefox allows multiple levels of "session restore", allowing me to go back several iterations of crashes. Great. This is the ONLY reason why I switched to Firefox several years ago.

But, within the last 6 to 12 months something has changed. Now, I am only able to go back one level of crashes in "session restore" - the additional session(s) simply does not exist. I have Googled multiple times for a solution, but, the closest thing I have found is the "about:config" setting of "browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes". The setting of "0" and "1" makes no difference.

I am currently using Firefox 43.0.4. Why does this functionality no longer work?

Restore option is also grayed out in preferences. There is no way to restore tabs and it lies when it says it will restore them after the forced reboot. It virtually destroys al my work configuring multiple windows on a frequent ( at least monthly) basis. It appears all information about restoring tabs or sessions is obsolete.

When I close Firefox and open it again I am no longer logged into my Google account as is normal (I ask that my login information not be saved). However if I use the restore previous session option then I am logged back into my Google accounts. Why is the login token not expired on closing, and is still valid after restoring a previous session?

This happens even when disabling all add-ons.

Hello! My problem is following: Firefox crashed and all the tabs are just blank after I restarted it. I've tried all other related solutions on this site and came to conclusion, that all 3 session files are somehow corrupted. Although they still do contain all the tabs URLs (checked by opening files with notepad) - they just won't load them. Is there a way to repair these files somehow or to extract URLs in some file that can be imported into Firefox after? Like bookmark or html file.

This has been going on for a few months, but I have a strange bug where Firefox will start instantly closing sessions. If I clear my cookies it will fix the issue temporarily, but a couple days later it will come back. It's almost like it's running out of space in one of my local .sqlite caches. I've particularly noticed that this happens for a specific domain where I regularly access lots of subdomains (100+ subdomains of a single domain) - it might be coincidental, but I thought that there might be some single-domain cookie storage limit, but from what I've read that limit should be very large and none of the stored cookies are very large and I don't seem to be having this issue in Chrome which - as far as I can tell - has the same single-domain cookie storage limit. Is there a limit to the number of cookies that it will store for a single domain (across subdomains)? Any insight would be much appreciated!

1) Kept getting bugged to "update FF ASAP" ... so I did (to 52.6.0 ESR) 2) After Update installed, some freaky popup "...choose either Safe mode or Refresh" 3) Chose "Refresh" & re-started FF (yet again!) 4) Now I have NO CLUE about the 14 Tabs that existed & were perfectly accessible BEFORE all of the above. 5) RESTORE window shows NO TABS whatsoever (although it suggests I "Click on one..." that I may think is problematic) 6) HISTORY has those 14 tabs/URL's BURIED SOMEWHERE among the hundreds of other URL's I've since visited & closed

7) HOW can I now reconstruct those 14 Tabs now Disappeared? 8) WHY am I feeling like a complete IDIOT for having done the "right thing" and Updated FF on my computer?????

Any Helpful and Relevant suggestions, anyone?

I have FF quantum 60.0.1 (64-bit) set to "Show your windows and tabs from last time", however, when it starts up, it opens duplicate tabs for some of the tabs. Sometimes 3 of the same tab in different locations on the tab bar. I know which are the dupes because there is no history. Any idea what's causing that?
