I have an iMac, running OS 10.13.6, and Firefox 62.0, and periodically another search engine takes over my home page. I know how to change it back, but o\is there a way to lock it so this can't happen? I've already removed add-ons and extensions, but I want to be able to lock it so this can't happen. I did run across an archived exchange from about 4 years ago, but the instructions in that discussion didn't work, because when I click on "tools" the dropdown doesn't include "options." Can you help me lock this so I don't have to keep changing my home page back to what I set it at?

Hello, my firefox default search engine and homepage keep resetting to Bing. I have followed a couple of guides already which did not work, I have already tried:
-Removing any and all extensions/add-ons from the firefox browser -Checking in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref\ for anything unusual; only channel-prefs.js is there which I think is as it should be.
It is resetting every time I turn the computer on - how can I fix this?

McAfee warning panel pops up and advises that the <hmyquickconverter.com> URL is dangerous, but I have never allowed this URL to be active when queried while opening Firefox. The McAfee software is responding inappropriately and is getting in my way. Their "Accept Risk" button does not respond, so this workaround is unavailable.

Today out of the blue Bing appeared as the search engine - without me manually changing anything.
I want to use Google as my preferred search engine
It seems that Bing has invaded as a malware would perhaps on the back of some other invasive add on or similar.
I have gone to options and settings and after removing Bing (supposedly) it reappears when I do a search.
Very frustrating for an occasional user.

Anything at all that I type into the search box triggers this response - if I use any other browsers I have no problem whatsoever. Just with V62.0 Firefox
