eBay intermittently incompatible with current release of Firefox, no fixes working

-Restart PC done -Cache cleared -Safe mode used -Works on IE, Edge, Chrome

I read about a different Firefox issue and I am able to visit this page FYSA: https://ir.ebaystatic.com/rs/v/4ups3vxocu2mherdhxh5b2kdxml.css

Is this something that Mozilla would be able to fix in the next update?

I have a Firefox account, so my settings are shred across devices. But there is one thing that is a pain in the neck. I use a local start page, i.e. one stored on the local disk of each device I use. But this page is stored in a different location on each device. When I set the start page on one device, the setting doesn't work on my other devices. Suggestion: Don't sync the start page if it is a local html file. Or offer a setting to disable syncing of just this one setting.

I've been finding it awkward reaching my hand round to select the menues button since they moved it to the right side and took away the ability to drag it via customise. I don't see why they had to fix it where it now is, when it was always fine on the left side: maybe this version was made by a left hander, who would be able to steer their mouse pointer in the 'forward' sense, and not have to strain their right hand against its wrist to get to the right corner, as I do.  :/

Anyhow: a solution was offerred, in the form of a style sheet script from Github, a few years ago:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1184188#answer-1027165

"1) Download the zip file at https://github.com/Timvde/UserChrome-Tweaks and extract the userChrome.css file. 2) Open File Explorer, click 'View', check the box for 'Hidden Items'. 3) Drill down to c:/users/yourname/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/yourdefaultprofile 4) Create a new directory called 'chrome'. 5) Copy userChrome.css to the 'chrome' directory. 6) Restart Firefox."

This looks quite straightforward, but I'm new to GitHub, and I can't find anything about any actual files to download, and, if I try to copy the relevant script from the header link of the script, so that I can create a file in notepad, all that it copies is the title. I can't believe how much time I've wasted just looking for the zip file in step one of the fix!

Css and coding are all pretty alien to me, but I thought I might be able to at least manage the download part.  :/

Much obliged if anyone can explain how one is meant to 'git' things from the GitHub site; and,

If the situation has changed in the various FF versions since this advice was given: Does anyone have a way to move the 'hamburger' button, that will work with the current version?

Many thanks.

At approximately the time FF updated automatically to release 80.0, I was unable to save a backup file (json) and restore it to another computer. First time this happened. When I completely removed FF 80.0 from the target computer and tried again, I continued to get the message: "Unable to process the backup file."

I can only imagine that FF 80.0 on the source computer is producing faulty backup JSON files.

Suggested solutions I've seen for this error message are from older FF versions.

There is a fullscreen mode that prints a window over the full size of the screen without showing toolbars/navigation/extensions... Is there a "full window" mode that do the same, but over the full size of a window? It would be a simple webview in a system window but without the control toolbars. It would be very useful when tiling several Firefox windows without wasting space for toolbars/tabs... This mode should be specific for a window since I do not want to loose the controls on the main screen-wide window.

I was recently playing with "Themes" by adding and deleting some. Now, when Firefox starts, the theme "Light" is always used as the default. When I look at the themes page, my preferred one is shown as"enabled" and "Light" is shown as "disabled", but it is Light that is actually displayed in the banner display. If I disable, then enable my preferred one, it is then the one displayed. How can I stop "Light" from being the actual default? Firefox does not allow me to delete the Light theme.

Since Firefox does not allow for selecting multiple languages for spellcheck, as chromium-based browsers do, I want to create a hybrid dictionary file for both English and Spanish (duplicate built-in en-US dictionary file, rename it as en-es hybrid, and copy all entries of es-AR dictionary into it). However, first I have to find the built-in dictionary file. I've seen in another thread that on Windows, the file is apparently located in the Dictionaries folder in the Firefox folder in Program Files. Does anyone know where this file is located on Mac?

Thanks, David

For quite a while now, I've had this issue where at seemingly arbitrary intervals with seemingly arbitrary queries, Firefox will generate a prompt underneath my address bar asking whether I wanted to go to "http://<searchquery>" where <searchquery> is, well, my search query.

This only occurs in a search in the address bar, and any future queries identical to the original <searchquery> will either redirect to a centurylink search engine, or take me to "<searchquery>.com".

This has occurred independent of the operating system (I've discovered this on both Windows and Linux.) This has occurred before on a completely fresh install of Firefox (default settings and no extensions), and a fresh install of either operating system. (So it's probably not some virus or misconfiguration.)

Another common response I've found is that it's something related to the ISP. For that I can't answer for sure, but I can clarify that my current ISP is Telus.

This doesn't bother me too much, as it's a bug that can be mitigated by just ignoring the prompt. But it's just such an odd inexplicable inconsistency that rarely occurs and I've yet to come across a solution that does properly explain it.

One website, Discord, has a broken Favicon in the tab. A photo is attached. I read another support thread that said to clear the favicon files from the user profile by opening the Directory from About:Profiles. I did this. It did not fix the issue. What is more strange is that the home page for Discord doesn't have this problem. It's only when I log in and go to the list of channels available that this happens.

But, I think whatever bug I'm experiencing is not solely a favicon bug, because I also have a weird graphical issue when visiting this website: https://james.darpinian.com/satellites/ One icon should say "You" and any traveling satellites should be labeled with the satellite's name. I've tried clearing any browser cache/data related to that website and it's not fixed. I've attached a screenshot from Microsoft Edge on the same computer showing how it's meant to look.

Just now, I went to the about:profiles and opened the hidden "default profile" in a new window. Going to the Discord website or the satellite does NOT reproduce these graphical errors. How can I sort of "clean up" my primary profile to fix these things?

Hello, I just joined Firefox Sync today because I got a new computer. I am in the process of moving all my info to the new machine. I set up an account on Firefox Sync for both computers and checked all the boxes. It appears that my history, bookmarks, etc all synced properly but when I go to the Firefox Lockwise page on my new computer it only has 2 saved logins, whereas my current computer has over 200 saved. I did a manual sync and refresh but no more logins have populated that page. Is there another way to transfer those logins? I really really don't want to have to manually log in again to all those websites. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks in advance!
