Hello, I am from Hellas (Greece) and I have installed an English-Greek dictionary, these two languages are 100% non conflicting since we have different alphabet thus the dictionary automatically spell checks both languages at once.

I used to have this dictionary default and it worked perfectly until a recent update keeps changing the spelling dictionary to the default, which is the local language -> just Greek.

If I change the spelling dictionary it will work until I restart mozilla (or sometimes until I restart the pc). This is kinda irritating at worst, not a big issue, but having to change my selected dictionary every time is ridiculous.

See the attached image to understand what Mozilla does by default.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The solution is given below but I'll write it here:
1) Go to about:config (hit I accept the risk there)
2) Right click on a blank area
3) Select: New->String
4) Name that new string as: spellchecker.dictionary
5) Set the value of it the name of the spell checker, in my case it is: English & Greek
6) You are done!
To see the name of the string you need, simply install a dictionary you want, go to a page that you can write something (lets say facebook) and right click, select "spell checking" and then scroll to see the dictionary options you have, the name of your dictionary is the one you see in that little drop down menu like in the image I provided.
Recently, I have been having issues with one website not playing any content. I'm running Firefox 61, with Ublock Origin, Https Everywhere, and Adblock Plus. I've tried removing those extensions, and still can't get it to work. I've only had this issue with the one website, which works fine on Chrome. Even started in safe mode, but still no luck.
Am I missing a step, or do I have something set wrong? Any ideas are welcome. Respectfully, Brts96
OK, the websites URL is: https://www.wunderground.com/wundermap. When I use Firefox all the frames, ads and all the other stuff around the map is displayed just like it is in IE. The only problem is the interactive map. This is the map that will display all the PWSs (Personal Weather Stations), that normal people like me have that are connected to the internet, so that I (or anyone else) can see what the temperature and all other aspects of the current weather is like at that location. There seems to be a problem with it being displayed using Firefox that neither IE or Chrome seem to have (those two browsers display the interactive map with no problems). When you bring up the page in Firefox all you get is a blank blue screen where the interactive map should be. Don't know if the problem i with Firefox or with their website. It seems that the Wundermap company sold out to The Weather Channel about the ame time as your last update (which is when I first noticed the problem. The Weather Channels suggest that I just stop using Firefox and start using IE! That will never happen as I have seen to many problems with vulnerability using IE and will only use Firefox and have been since it's first release long long ago. If you find out it is not a problem with Firefox but their website, maybe you can get a hold of The Weather Channels web people and tell they what they need to do go get it to work with Firefox. I know that in the past there have been several other sites that did not work with Firefox as the site makers were using some web page creator that did not "port" to Firefox (at least that is what I was told by their support dept.) and soon after was fixed to work with Firefox. That is what I suggested to them, but as I stated above, their response was to just quit using Firefox.
Attached pictures are suppose to be of the same location on the map but as you can see, with Firefox-no map and with IE-map
It seems that Mozilla has gotten rid of the DESCRIPTION window when you right click on a bookmark's properties. This was done in July for the Mac version of Firefox and with Ver. 62.0 for Windows.
No warning was given and there are a lot of complaints on the Mac version forum about this change. Again with Windows there was no warning that this MAJOR change was going to take place.
Like MANY other people I use the DESCRIPTION window to store extensive information about a given webpage. You can imagine my shock this morning when I went to retrieve some info and the window was gone. A little digging online found the complaint thread on the Mac change.
I have no idea why this was done. If it was for some security reason then it is understandable........the change that is, not t he way it was handled.
There are solutions given on the Mac thread on how to use another companies add-on to show the past saved descriptions. They are still in the Mozilla data files but are not shown in Ver. 62. You can also do an EXPORT to a .html file and then open the descriptions in the browser. Or you can reinstall Ver. 61.x from the archives and set it to NOT check for updates. This is what I did for the moment.
PLEASE bring back the DESCRIPTION window in bookmark properties. This is absolutely nuts to have to experience what I went through this morning sorting this all out.
I hate it how I have to first click on the "View history, saved bookmarks, and more" button in the top right, and then mouse over to bookmarks on the menu, and then click on bookmarks just to access them. Is there any way to set up a shortcut to the main bookmark menu? I went into customize and placed the "Bookmark Menu" button to on, but that only shows bookmark options on one click, not all my bookmarks.
Hi,
I have a semi-useful add-on to hide fixed elements. Unfortunately, it can't keep them from loading, and some sites now have animated sticky elements, so I need to block them before they trigger migraines, not just hide them afterwards.
I've looked online, and can only ever find instructions for web designers to inflict these things, not for users to block these things. I am not a programmer, and I am not going to figure out how to block these things from instructions on how to inflict them, but I might be able to figure it out from code to hide them.
I was able to edit my Firefox desktop (shortcuts) icons to a custom image. All of a sudden, after repairing my system, I no longer see the "Change Icon" on the properties of any Firefox generated shortcuts.
All I get are shortcuts with the Firefox logo, I need to change them. Anyone know how?
I have custom icons for all my important shortcuts. They always showed my images, not the Firefox image. This is critical for me.
Assuming the image file has actually uploaded, you will see all of the Firefox shortcuts. They were ALL custom images until the other day.
Yosemite 10.10.5. Firefox Quantum 61.0.1. MacBook Pro new January 2010. I've used Firefox for years. In the last month or two Firefox has started crashing on startup. Not every startup, just the first one after the MAC starts. Usually it crashes before it gets as far as showing a web page. Now and again it takes longer, and once in a while I get as far as trying to do something on the web page and then it abruptly vanishes. When it crashes, I don't get a crash reporter or an error message, it just all vanishes and starts starting up again. It always makes it on the second try. If I close it and then open it again, it will carry on working after that until I shut the MAC down. The next time I use it, it's the same story again - crashes and restarts the first time, then OK after that.
I've tried several refreshes. I've looked for add-ons that might be upsetting it. I've used AppCleaner to strip it right off and put it back on again. I have a virus checker running that isn't finding anything. Chrome and Safari are both working fine. I'm wondering if 61.0.1 might just be incompatible with Yosemite? or is this just what 61.0.1 does??
What is says, really. have tried all fixes within my competence range. It loads on IE but Firefox is my preferred browser, so its a problem with Firefox. Have tried disabling Adblock, deleting History cache and cookies, refreshing Firefox, done 'Forget about this site', checked autorefresh is set to false, and by the way I have the latest version of Firefox installed. Pinterest's own site (when accessed on IE) has no help options for 'does not load'. Please help if you are able, I would be so grateful. many thanks.
Since 61, Firefox is crashing multiple times per day. Mostly when I click links out of email, but not exclusively. Most disturbingly, I keep installing 61.0.2 and after a crash the version is always 61.0.1. I have repeatedly deleted everything to do with Firefox and reinstalled 61.0.2 from scratch and still it reverts to 61.0.1 on crashing. System is up-to-date. Security is up-to-date. Crashlog files don't contain a long ID at all - just a single 8ish digit number. I've given up on Firefox for now and using Safari. I don't really have a question - I'm just telling you that (a) Firefox is effectively unusable for me and (b) something very weird is going with the reverting to a different version.
Automatically add button resulted in badness. See attached file.
Note that when I opened Firefox, it wanted to upgrade back to 61.0.2 and I let it.
