I'm having serious performance issues with Firefox. I have reset Firefox to try and address it and that didn’t help.

Pages take forever to load and the task manager indicates 50 – 75% utilization while FF struggles to load pages. This CPU action continues as long as the browser is running. The “Plugin Container for FF” in addition to “FF” itself is sucking up a lot of resources. If I kill the Plugin Container process, FF reports that Adobe Flash Plugin has crashed and certain pages load that wouldn’t load up to this point. There’s obviously something wrong in the flash. The task manager still shows a 50% CPU usage and the page loads crawl.

If I continue to kill the Plugin Container process, I can coax pages to load.

I'm running Adobe Flash version 25.0.0.171.

I'm running Firefox 53.0.2 64bit on Window 10, Lenovo Laptop.

This problem just started recently.

DeviantART.com is forcing people to look at their advertisements. Anyone who tries to block the ads are met with their warning banner about blocking ads to let them through. This ugly banner takes up a good amount of the screen. You have to disable your ad-block software to see their ads! ( Or become a paying member which is forced down your throat. ) Most of these ads ask you to be a paying member. Some of these ads I'm told contain viruses & malware ready to infect computers. Some play audio disrupting viewing art on the site. How I know of the nastiness of these ads is through other users speaking up. I only noticed the plea on every page to beg people pay for membership. Even customized filtering won't remove the banner telling people to not use their ad-blocking software. It took downloading and installing Chrome - adding three different forms of ad-blockers, just to remove this banner 99% of the time. This is not friendly browsing and I don't want to switch to Chrome. Remember even Google based software isn't totally safe from this anti ad-block message. Please reply to me about how to resolve this. I've been using DeviantART since 2009.

Tried all night to get a account, stopped my antivirus prog, checked my email acount, but still no returning lenk for setup. Last is that it says that my email is not a email?

This new system is so annoying. In addition it threw out my toolbar bookmarks. I can't seem to get my email screen to fill the page. This is not an upgrade - it's a nightmare.

So many people are very poor and they can not buy new and strong computer hardware , But Firefox force us to use new hardware because new version need new hardware , and new add-ons need new version browser ... It is unfair , What dose add-ons do for us that you force us to buy new hardware? , whereas we have not enough money ... Is not Mozilla a non-profit organization ? For example in Iran, internet censored by criminal government and we strongly need free "VPN add-ons" at old versions of Firefox ... (especially 47 & less)

چرا نمیگذارید از افزونه ها در نسخه های قدیم فایرفاکس استفاده کنیم ؟ ما نمیتوانیم نسخه جدید مرورگر را بکار ببریم چون پول کافی برای خرید سخت افزار کامپیوتر جدید نداریم . مگر یک افزونه چه میکند که اینگونه لازم به بروزرسانی باشد ؟ بگذارید از همان نسخه های قدیم استفاده کامل بکنیم ، مگر بنیاد موزیلا غیرانتفاعی نیست ؟ پس چه فایده ای دارد که مردم را مجبور به خرید کامپیوتر جدید کنید ؟ بطور مثال در ایران اینترنت توسط حکومت جنایتکار سانسور میشود و ما نیاز فراوان به فیلترشکن از نوع افزونه ای داریم ، لطفا اینقدر ما را اذیت نکنید!

I sorted by name a while back and today I add bookmarks and they are at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu. Do I have to resort them every time I add one?

Also, I keep on seeing these useless "Unsorted Bookmarks" and "Recent Tags" and "Bookmarks Toolbar" wasting space and distracting me. I want 1 Bookmarks area for everything. So simple. So logical. So easy to manage. 1 folder with lots of subfolders. Like anybody organizes anything. Is this possible? Who even uses Toolbars? People with Amnesia? Who can't remember keyboard shortcuts you use time and time again? With each revision software just treats us as if we have less and less brain power. Its a disturbing trend these days.

If web designers made cars they'd forget to install a steering wheel. There's an enormous lack of common sense in tech today. Its like they design by principle with a computer but don't actually use it to hone the design.

Closed FF browser for lunch, came back, open FF browser & ALL my previous settings are gone, even my default search engine is gone. I opened to a screen as if it was the first time I ever used FF, & had to learn to use it for my personal preferences, yet I've used Mozilla FF for over a decade, whats up with you over there?! I previously had very similar problem after downloading & using Win 10, for apprx. one month, the FF browser did the same thing in that ALL my settings were gone, BUT it also froze my computer! I had to spend money to get all my engineering design work recovered and check all parts of my computer to not be corrupted. After paying the money and verifying my computer was working fine, I had the tech get me back to Win 7, and now here I am again, but now in Win 7 & except that my computer isn't 'frozen' yet! I need my settings restored & everything back as it was just 30 minutes ago AND a way to stop this from happening ever again! Hope you guys aren't getting too big a company and not able to really help it's customers! (FYI, I do see FF apps are where I preferenced them, also my bookmarks are available, but I have to take time to put all settings back to where I originally put them. I don't want to constantly do this and pros-pone documents to my partners around the world, & I don't really want to change from using Mozilla FF, but this is second time and I'll change if necessary. I need your help!

After years of working properly videos no longer play on Hulu. A brief ad will play for a few seconds but when the actual program starts it just goes black and a small icon (don't know what to call it) appears indicting that it is refreshing/working but it never does. I am using Windows 10 and I did recently have to reset my PC so Windows reinstalled. I am sure it is some setting, but I have tried every suggestion I could find to no avail. Thanks in advance for your help.

When you hit Control_D a window pops up. Now say you want to be organized and instead of throwing this into the pile at Unsorted Bookmarks you actually want to place it somewhere specific, the general way seems to be to click: Folder then Choose then scroll down to the folder/subfolder and hit OK.

If you have thousands of bookmarks like I do this is hard to do in the tiny window offered. It would be great to have it much larger - better yet, full screen.

Also it would be great to be able to do this without wasting time with the rodent (mouse). It seems impossible to insert a bookmark this way without involving the mouse.

I often wonder if it might be better to just simplify everything and use a text based bookmarking system with a text reader like Word, Libreoffice, Wordpad or Jarte that can launch your browser from an URL in a DOC or RTF document. Most of these programs can sort alphabetically as well! Folders, subfolders and text documents could organize everything. It could be read or copy and pasted from with any browser. It wouldn't be as seamless as having it integrated with the browser of course. It would have a huge advantage if you're working on different platforms and different machines. Everything can read text after all. As a last resort you could just copy and paste the text of the URL's. You could also add your own notes and it would display exactly how you wanted it, not some software designer who rarely seems to have their mind planted in reality.

I installed Firefox 59.0.2 tonight, and was alerted that a Trojan Horse was installed with the crash installer app. ClamXav's Clam Sentry alerted me—and yes, the definitions are updated daily.

Is this a new false-positive? Clam Sentry alerted it as a LIVE virus, so it wouldn't allow me to quarantine it—delete only.

since upgrading to firefox 47.0 ive been getting messages saying we are sorry but windows has detected a problem with your program and needs to shut it down we will let you know when we find a solution so the window will shut down and then pop right back on anyone know whats going or how to fix tried to send a screenshot but got message to big just happened again has i was filling out report page will come right back on

I have noticed over the last couple of weeks that when I click on "Bookmark this page" it brings up the usual pop-up windows but, when I try to retype the title of the bookmark the window closes before I have finished typing and before I have identified where I want the bookmark to go in my bookmarks list. It then saves the bookmark just at the bottom of the list of bookamrks and folders and I have to go back in and move it around and retitle it in there. I assume it is related to one of the more recent upgrades as I am currently using 47.0.

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this and how to fix it?

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm eternally grateful for Internet Explorer, it actually prints correctly every time.

Firefox also did fine for years, but anymore it's a total crap shoot. I run an on-line business from home. I have six printers hooked up to the PC either through USB or the LAN. On laser printer for letter sized paper and a bunch of label printers with different size labels. Firefox seems to want to determine what printer I want to use for printing from web sites and used the same one regardless of what I'm printing and apparently tells the web site so the printout is formatted for that printer. So if Firefox decides I want to print to a 4x6 label printer and I'm trying to print to an 8.5x11 printer the output is the size appropriate for a 4x6 sheet instead of an 8.5x11 when I print to the laser printer. And for some reason Firefox keeps setting the paper size for the 4x6 printer is 11.88x4.88 with .39 margins (when printing shipping labels through PayPal), none of which is correct.

And then there was the time the other day when the header and footer info that I have set to blank started printing with the standard Firefox settings. I checked the about:config file and the fields were all set to blank. Same in the print properties box in Firefox. If I did a print preview first it would print correctly - blank fields. Deleting the prefs.js file fixed this one, but the other issues keep coming back.

Is there anyway to tell Firefox to use the printer settings I've set up in Windows and to ask what printer I want to use before it tells a web site how to format the printout? Like IE seems to do.

And then there's the new feature in Firefox that won't allow Java printing, so I can't print UPS labels from Firefox. I'm so grateful for Internet Explorer.

I have tried accessing Tumblr, Google, etc., however, I keep getting an Insecure Connection message, and none of the bypassing solutions work. Tumblr will work sometimes, but very rarely. Any solutions?

I got a very official looking red screen with the Firefox logo titled "Urgent Firefox update". It had the normal looking opening file box asking me if I wanted to save the file: firefox-patch.exe, a binary file from https://ahghointernetno.net . I closed the window and started researching if this was real. I did make a print screen copy to WordPad but was unable to upload it here do to unsupported file type.

So every time I try to download a file and choose "open with" (instead of "save file"), the file opens and then Firefox crashes. It does this on any website, any file type. If I choose "Save File" instead, it downloads the file and there are no problems (it just adds the extra step of navigating to the folder where the file was downloaded to open it). I have completely uninstalled Firefox, deleted every trace of it from my PC (appdata, Program Files, registry, etc), and reinstalled. No change, still crashes every time I choose "Open with". This has been going on for at least a few months I think.

No matter where you go on my website, the favicon should always be a clown. However, recently the favicon started to change depending on what folder/gallery is being viewed on my website.

I have set up the favicon correctly using SmugMug. How can I get Firefox to display the clown favicon for any page/folder/gallery on my website?
