The "NEW TAB" features suck, to put it plainly in computer speak terms. With so many people asking how it works or how to change it back to the old design, wouldn't it be best to compile all the negative feedback and confusion over this new format, and reverse it back to the old design? As the saying goes..."IF IT AIN'T BROKE...DONT FIX IT." I won't even use the NEW TAB page now as I don't have any desire to figure out or read how to get my links to be remembered and stored there again. Many of my links aren't there anymore, and even visiting the sites, is not putting those page links back onto the NEW TAB page for selection. Honestly this thing just junk. You guys need to quit changing things that work. Sometimes when something is created.....you got it right the first time. Sorry but starting to miss Internet Explorer. They didn't change much, but.. when they did...it was only the things that needed updating or a fix.

When I go to the google homepage and begin typing my search, it jumps from the middle of the screen to the top (presumably to make way for the results).

However, as I continue to type, I very often get a shopping banner that pops up right over the search box, immediately stopping me from typing [see attached image]. I then have to hit the 'X' on the right hand side of the banner before I can continue typing my search.

It's incredibly annoying, as sometimes it will keep triggering every time I click back in the search box.

It seems to be triggered if what you're typing relates to something you could buy, so for instance, if you were to type in the name of a book or film, it would pop up with a link to ebay or amazon, and give you the best price for that item.

It's not in my add-ons. I'm on XP, using Firefox 38.0.5

Is this adware or something Mozilla have added, thinking it would be a useful tool?

See Bugzilla #995943 and #1058527. We used to be able to open local file links (on a trusted company internal wiki) by using a custom user.js to allow opening linked files from specified locations. This was disabled in FF29. There seems to be consensus that this is a necessary feature (see all the comments on the bugs), so why is nobody working on it?

I went to open my options window under the Tools tab which I do everyday because I have to empty the cache manually to fix wifi problems. today when I opened it, instead of opening the familiar little floating window it opened a webpage in a new tab. I'm wondering if this is supposed to be happening and if there is a way to change it back to "normal" as I really don't like the way it looks and it isn't working now when I clear my cache. Thank you!

What's this stupid "view pocket list" thing doing in my bookmarks? I right click on it and there's no way to delete it. I HATE stuff invading my browser like that, how do I nuke it?

I am looking for a preference I can embed in a CKK2 deployment of Firefox that will disable the installation of apps. ie. browser.apps.enabled (Boolean, Default=True, True permits apps to be installed, False denies any attempt at installing apps).

Barring that, I'd need to make some way to make the Tools>Apps option go away and advise the network admin to blacklist the apps marketplace site.

Firefox within the last month has started freezing every time on a Windows 7 laptop every time I try one of the above actions. I have tried "refresh Firefox", safe mode, uninstall/reinstall, nothing seems to help. Can't open prefs so I have not been able to turn off hardware acceleration. However, I was able to set up Firefox Sync which let me get my bookmarks to another PC and it looks like make setting changes on that PC affects this copy of FF so I <think> I've also tried turning off hardware acceleration. Nothing works. Especially frustrating that the options freeze. Firefox has worked for years on the affected laptop, is there anything I can do except give up and switch to another browser?

This just started happening today and I'm not sure why. I've tried troubleshooting and nothing works. I even tried refreshing Firefox and safe mode. It still crashes and there is no crash report. I can open Youtube's main page just fine, but when I try to play a video it immediately crashes. I've tried playing around with disabling plugins and anything else I can think of, but nothing works.

I'm trying to get back my original settings after cleaning out some malware. Before, I could open the browser and surf and if I had a question about a word or name, statement, etc., I could copy and right click and choose "look up word on google" along with 4-5 other choices. Now when I try it, the list gives me about 30 choices, none of which are "look up on google". I went to options and in the column on the left side I tried to click "search" to no avail. If I click the other tabs (General, content, applications, etc) they all give me options. But when I click search only the previous tabs choices show. The search tab is there but does nothing. :) Thanks for any help!

I'm having a problem downloading Adobe Flash 18. I get a small window that says "Installation will begin shortly." About 5 minutes later I'll get an error message that says "Application Initialization Error." And when I click on the Finish button in the bottom right, it takes me right back to Adobe to download it again. Is anybody having a problem with this?

Problems with either

A. Other programs unfocusing to firefox

B. Firefox unfocusing, even if it's the only program open.

It always crashes after one of these. I did send a crash report, is there any way I can help speed it along?

All of my old tabs are missing after a crash. I have selected "show my tabs and windows from last time" as the startup option. Many undesired changes in tab handling happened recently. For instance when I close a tab in a two tab window, I see a blank screen ( see image). The tab preview view also seems to be broken ( shown in attachment). How can I get the old behavior back?

I went to about:config. I changed all the pocket variables with strings to empty and changed all the Booleans to false. But I want to get rid of all the code completely and to ensure it will not be stealth installed again.

I use the windows On screen keyboard 95% of the time. And I like to place it generally in the middle of the window when using it. When I need to type into the search box, and even though the On screen keyboard is set to Always On Top, it always goes UNDER the dropdown search suggestions list, which blocks my ability to keep typing. I then have to stop typing and move the OSK to the right or left beyond the right or left edge of the search box, or move it to the very top of the window or very bottom out of the way of the dropdown. This then highlights the text I've already typed, forcing me to click at the end of it or start over (once I've moved the OSK out of it's way). Even if I have search suggestions turned off there is still a dropdown that blocks the OSK (the position/size/length of the search box along the top and the position of the OSK are where I like them bc of my poor vision). The address bar does the same thing. I want to know if there is a way to keep the dropdown search box UNDER the OSK while I'm typing? It's a long question I apologize, but it's a bit wordy to describe. see the photo and I'm sure you'll understand what I'm talking about. The OSK is always set to "Always On Top" in Win 7 prem.

It contains a live copy of all my bookmarks. Inside, there is another "All Bookmarks" folder, and another and another. What is it? How do I get rid of it? I am concerned that if I delete it, all my bookmarks will go away. I can't move it as I can other bookmarks.

I do business with the same companies daily, weekly, or on a very regular basis. When I obtain a new business account or customer, I try to remember to delete the wrong results in address bar. I type over the complete url (.com) in address bar, but Firefox forces from memory (or history) and the only way I can get where I must go is from typing the address from within a search engine.

I about:configged auto fill,but that didn't work. I also tried autofill.typed, but that didn't work. I attempted to change Tools > location bar, but the choices are not good. I hardly ever search from bookmarks and my history is too often used to delete. (It seems counterproductive). How do I stop Firefox from forcing me to go places I do not want to go?

This is similar - in the sense of remembering crap I don't want it to remember - and making my searches far more difficult. I have had problems - especially in Amazon. I've written a couple of times. Nobody has ever gotten back to me on why FIREFOX has so many problems. If I don't get answers here, how do I get answers? I don't want to use IE and I don't want to have to avoid certain websites because the results suck. I'm in limbo until some solutions are found.

So, every time I open up firefox my home page opens up like it should, but also an options tab always comes along with it. This does not happen, however, when I open up a private browsing window.

This just happened to me again and I have no idea why. I'll be on a website, maybe a news site, a store site, or wherever, in my browser -- Firefox (version is irrelevant because this has happened for a long time with lots of different versions) -- and I'll click on the share button so I can share something on Facebook. The pop up will not appear, but if I put my mouse over the taskbar icon for Firefox, the pop up shows up. In fact, there could be multiples, depending on how many times I've clicked the share button. Many other times, it works just fine, but on these occasions, they are like phantom pop ups. I can't get to them to share what I want. Anyone know why?
