Dear Firefox Officer,

I have been requested by e-mail to update my Firefox 78.15.Oesr (64 bits) before the end of March. Is this update compatible with my MacBookPro5,4 with IOS El Capitan 10.11.6? Please note that I cannot install a more recent IOS. Without updating my present Firefox, would I still have access to all my favorite folders and applications? Thanks for your help. I used Firefox's saved logins feature for years and had over 100 logins saved on my laptop. I also use Firefox on my IOS phone.

After an update (I don't know which one, updates are frequent), the app on my phone stopped showing my passwords for most of my accounts. For example, in the passwords section of my Firefox IOS app, it would show the names of the over 100 websites I had saved logins for, but would say there was nothing saved as an email/username or password, just empty boxes. There were 8 logins for accounts I had created on my phone, and those ones did display.

I eventually got tired this and tried to sync my account so I would have all of the passwords I saved on my laptop and on my phone, but Firefox, instead of combining the over 100 logins on my laptop with the 8 logins on my phone, removed all of the over 100 logins I had saved on my laptop and replaced them with the 8 logins that were saved on my phone. My phone also still has the 8 logins.

Now I am missing most of my logins, including the email accounts I used and passwords. This is a big issue for me because I've used multiple emails across my accounts. Resetting all of my passwords will be impossible, and I need to access the over 100 saved logins that are no longer on any of my devices.

I followed the instructions in the "Recover user data missing after Firefox update" support page. The only other profile that showed up for me has no logins saved at all, so that's a dead end. I read other pages about "wrong way syncing", but its too late for me to try to tell Firefox my laptop was the master account because the damage is already done.

I need to know if there's a way to recover my profile with all my accounts. Please, share any information that could be helpful. I need it badly.

Hi

I am a web dev, and need FF help on this. All of my sync data is gone, I sign out and back in twice, I checked the profiles there's only one, all of my bookmarks, plugins & extensions everything is gone. Please I need those bookmarks some of them were very important to me I can't lose those.

Back-story: I recently want to try two distro that I had been on my list from quite a while now, VanillaOS & BlendOS, I worked on those for 3 or 4 days, before switching back to Arch, on both of them everything was working fine, I had all of my data. On Arch I had to reset my password because I forgot. Then the issue started, at first I thought maybe my internet was slow or something but now on the 2nd my data is still not synced.

I even signed out and back in, I checked the profiles(screenshot below). What should I do?

I recently installed Firefox on my new computer and when I tried to log into my account to sync browsing history, saved logins, extensions, etc., I realized that I forgot my Firefox account password. After I reset my firefox account password, firefox is now not syncing any of my data.

New: Is it true that changing the Mozilla account password will cause the sync data to be lost? If so, why didn't I get any warning before changing the password? In the current state, if I log in the account on Firefox Android, will the information on the Android device be lost, or will the desktop Firefox sync with it? please guide me

I’m being advised via emails from Mozilla, to update my browser. It says it’s up to date. A cut off of 31 March has been stated.

 My mbp won’t run higher than OS X 10.11.6. Firefox 78.15.0esr the latest browser for my system..afaik. I am on the ear update channel, and think it update’s automatically 
Am I being left high & dry by Mozilla ? 

Something in the emails about syncing…? Not convinced if this is something I should be doing something about or not…

 Any advice or insights much appreciated. The suggestion seems to be that I will be shut out without passwords and recovery keys and whole load of inconvenience…?

Trying to sync my logins/passwords from my laptop to my desktop. It just doesnt work.

I have reset primary password, logged into both devices, selected sync on both devices. But it does not sync to desktop. Both machines come up in the Connected Services setion of my mozilla account.

When i try to manually enter logins & password on desktop list - it keeps asking me to enter my primary password (despite already being logged into firefox).

This is very frustrating so any help is greatly appreciated.

Secure connection failed firefox sync effects all browsers all sites

I had a hard drive fail and needed to do an entire new install. One of the very first things I do is install firefox and sync so I have all my sites tabs and passwords.

I did this and got the Secure connection failed errors instantly thereafter. no reboot nothing fixed it. Bing chrome opera all fail to work. refusing all secure connections. It will load microsoft but I cannot log in. It will load 1000 other sites as long as they are not the SSL pages. No other browser will load either.

This is instantly after signing in to sync.

I was left with no choice but to assume something got corrupted and wipe and redo windows AGAIN on this new drive.

This time I downloaded everything with bing and edge. Then when I was done after two days. I downloaded FF and tested it.

Worked great.

Signed into sync and BAM, all browsers and all websites refuse connections.

I have signed out of sync. I have deleted firefox. I have cleared SSL and DNS and every other setting I can think of or that chat gpt suggested. from cmd line. hard.

No remaining browsers will load. New firefox with no profile and no sync will load.

Whatever sync DID remains totally systemic and persistent and ONLY a total wipe of the drive fixed it last time.

Why will FF simply DO something like this and WTF did it do?

I had to change my operating system. before doing that I made sure I have sync my browser. Now after installation browser and login to my account the sync is not doing what I was hoping for. The sync is just uploading the new configuration to the cloud but it is not downloading all the history and add-ons from a version before OS change. I see it is stored but I don't see any option to load those to the current browser. Please, advise what can I do?

Or is there only one date and that is the last backup date? I want to use a new computer and there is no data from the previous computer's hard drive

I have an email account blocked (jgcaller129@gmail.com) and have tried the sync tab at the top corner of my computer. It sends a message with a number to this blocked email to unblock it- how am I supposed to get an email from you on a blocked account. How do I unblock this account. I have tried several times with the same result now the icon to sync isn't there anymore. PLEASE HELP This email is very important to me. I used the password manager feature years and go to it probably 5+ times a week. I went to look for a password today and there are only 5 accounts in there. Trying not to panic I went to my computer to see if it was just my iOS device that wasn't showing them all for some reason, but only the same five accounts are in there too. When I first setup my ipad, all the accounts in the password vault sync'd but they all showed empty so I never bothered looking them up on there. I'm wondering if somehow the ipad's failed sync caused all the other passwords to be corrupted and removed from my account somehow. The 5 accounts I do have are all new accounts I've made over the past month, and I've used it a ton since the old ones. Any ideas for how I could get them back?

Due to a Windows 11 system restore, I had to reinstall Firefox. After signing in I found that all bookmarks, extensions and passwords have gone and the original 2020 profile they were attached to seems to be missing as well. I initially installed the Firefox app from the windows store and thought that might have been the problem, so uninstalled it and reinstalled from the mozilla website. That didn't heelp so I went through all the help articles I could find and I still can't figure out how to restore anything.

I recently logged out of Firefox and cannot log back in because the process requires an authenticator app, which I have no clue which would work. I have MS Authenticator and Google Authenticator but neither of them bring up any codes sent from Firefox. What on earth can I do? Delete my account and then create a new account with that same email again? However, I can't do that, because I can't login! Hey all,

I have 4 devices connected to Firefox Sync.

  1. Mac deskop
  2. Mac laptop
  3. iPhone
  4. iPad

It appears that the sync will sync extensions between the deskop and laptop ok, but not tabs. Both computers can see synced tabs from the mobile devices but not from each other.

I have logged out and in, turned on sync and off and on again, changed device names just to see if that refreshed things, removed them from the logged in list to kick them out and then logged in again, changed the tick boxes for sync items and yet tabs will not sync.

When I look under History > Synced Tabs I see the two mobile devices and their tabs but I don't even see the other Mac listed, let alone its tabs.

Help appreciated.

As the subject indicates, I'm unable to get passwords to sync and can't import from csv. Password file was generated by desktop Firefox on a Windows PC, trying to load to Firefox on Mac. I've manually entered usernames/passwords in the login fields for a few sites and selected the Save Password option when prompted, but about:logins# still says 0 logins and nothing populates when I return to the login page for those sites or pops up if I click or start typing in the username/password fields. Also attempted to sync using same Mozilla account logged in on iOS device and Mac, and that fails on the Mac, too (all passwords are still in iOS version and sync on the device is up-to-date). Error log from attempted sync includes, "Skipping check of passwords - disabled via preferences" and repeats 'Skipping check of... disabled...' for tabs, bookmarks, addons, etc., despite all of the options being selected under about:preferences#sync. Tried unchecking all, disconnecting, reconnecting, and making sure all were checked again. Tried to connect using QR code, but keep getting the message, "Pairing unsuccessful. Try again." as soon as I click on "Connect another device" - a QR code is never actually generated/displayed (see image), and clicking on it to 'try again' does not refresh/generate a QR code. A Primary Password (Master Password) has never been set for this account/on any associated devices. If I try to enter a web address, username, and password manually in about:logins#, it throws an error message and says it couldn't save, and asks me to enter a primary password which, again, I've never created/had. All versions of Firefox are up-to-date.

Please help.

If the Master Password is enabled on one device, it needs to be enabled on all devices connected to a Sync account.

Type about:sync-log in the URL bar and hit Enter. Do you have any error reports on the devices where Logins sync isn't working?

The text of the log can be posted here: https://pastebin.mozilla.org/ Make sure you select "a month" for data retention; "a day" is the default.

Then provide the resultant URL (after posting) here so a Sync support person can review those logs - latest per device. Might take a few days to get a knowledgeable response here. '
