Recently I have been seeing, what I believe is character encoding errors on many web sites.

As you can see from the attached, it appears as a series of 'ddddddddddd' but if I copy and paste that into Word or a text editor it appears correctly. Kinda random, some sites, some areas.

My Firefox automatically updates, so I do not know what version this started.

I'm running Linux Ubuntu 20.4

Whenever I try to use a website that has a browse button (e.g. youtube uploader, google drive, etc) I click it but nothing happens, no file browser comes up.

As per previous discussions on this issue, I have tried Safe mode, refresh (in fact total new operating system and re-install of firefox) and disabling hardware acceleration, even turning off popup blocker and none of these have made any difference.

recently when I open https://www.spanishdict.com I get a warning that I have to disable adblocker in order to get access to this site. The mouse-left click button does not work "with 1 site only", but works with other sites.

- I have followed the recommended steps shown in answers/replies to a similar question. However, none works at all.

  1. 1- cleared cache & cookies
  2. 2- tried safe mode and disabled/removed some add-ons manually as well
  3. 3- tried different themes and default theme
  • Please note that the same issue happens in Firefox on Android phone

I have been having this issue for 5 weeks already. as a temporary solution I am using the middle mouse click or right-click to open links in a new tab, then close the current tab

    • Please also note, that specific website works fine in other browsers (6 browsers tested)
      • the issue DOES NOT exist in Firefox on Linux

HI!

My buddy highlighted an issue, then i re-checked myself and it is worrying to me.

To recreate (windows):

Get any (non-webistaller [not nececarry, to do it this way, but simpler to check]) firefox version (buddy got a fresh portable, i used my kinda privacy fortified one). Disconnect from the internet (plug the cable for fastest result). Make your version usable (install it) Start firefox, and open the Resource Monitor, with the network tab open expand the Network Activity portion (short alphabeticly, by name, check for F for firefox). Plug the cable in.

You soon will see FF will start looking for things, then an adress with a googleusercontet.com will pop up. Does not matter what is the Homepage's default browser, does no matters even if the Homepage is set to blank, this happens.

My best bet would be google safe browsing, but still, without any activity it is already connecting to that?

I know about the Google-FF/Mozilla relation, but this really made me think about why i still like firefox.

What's the current instruction for deleting IRLs from the address bar pull down menu? This is not about the history, per se, of having been to any location. All I would like to do is delete several extraneous IRLs that are in the pull down menu which I don't need or rarely use, at least from that location.

Thanks.

Hi there

I have just updated Firefox Browser from 91.0.2 (32-bit) to 92.0 (64-bit)

The following website now gives a "Server Error" splash as soon as any search operation is attempted and of course, no results are found: https://isrc.soundexchange.com/#!/search

Firefox Browser vers 91.0.2 (32-bit) still works perfectly, but 92.0 (64-bit) gives 'Server Error'

I have tried safe mode, cleared the cache and checked all Privacy and Security settings. The only way to "fix" this problem is to go back to 91.0.2 (32-bit).

Please see images attached First showing 92.0 (64-bit) with Server Error Second, Working. Same site using Vers 91.0.2 (32-bit)

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

This is an issue with Mozilla Support. I'd like to be able to mark an answer as obsolete, as it's potentially misleading.

If you search on Google for "firefox toggle bookmark bar", the first result is this:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/865261

It indicates that there's no shortcut to toggle the bookmark bar, which was probably true when it was written, but isn't true now (can use Ctrl+Shift+B). As the question thread is archived, there's no way to add additional responses to indicate the current Firefox functionality, and users that search for this information may get the impression that the older answer is still accurate.

I don't mean to single this example out, I'm sure there are others and the author of the answer did nothing wrong, but I would like there to be some way to help direct users to more up-to-date information.

I run Firefox on a couple Windows PCs and one Linux Mint PC. Each of them is running Firefox 92.0.

My customary process had been to use one of the Windows PCs as my master copy of Firefox bookmarks. I do not use synch; rather, every so often I export the bookmarks from the master machine and restore the export to my other machines. I've not had a problem with that process in the past.

Today I encountered a problem for the first time: I exported the bookmarks from my "master" Windows PC and usual and then restored to my other PCs. The other Windows PCs did so without trouble, but the Mint PC did not restore the export file correctly: When I attempt to restore on the Mint PC, I get the folder structure from the original Windows export, but none of the folders is populated with bookmarks; instead, all 5K or so individual bookmarks are listed individually at the top level of my "Bookmarks Menu" folder, beneath the list of empty folders.

I've run the about:support Places Database "Verify Integrity" function on both the Windows master PC and on the Mint PC. The function does not flag any issues.

Any idea what's going on, and how I can resolve it? Might there be a bug in the Linux 92.0 that I should report somewhere? Is there a workaround I can try in the meanwhile, e.g., copy places.sqlite from the master machine to the Linux machine?

Thanks in advance for your help / guidance.

Regards, Rob L

The Find bar used to have an X at the far left that I could click to close it. It no longer does. I looked up if there's a hotkey to close it, and it's supposed to be Esc, which is doing nothing.

The bar also appears to have the search box and option tickboxes all grayed out indicating unusable; they're not actually unusable, it's just the appearance that's wrong, but it shouldn't look like that.

Since late last night, I've been having issues connecting to Facebook when using Firefox. Through my own troubleshooting efforts, I've run multiple Virus and Malware scans via AVG, Malware Bytes, TDSS Killer and Microsoft Safety Scanner, to no avail. What doesn't help is that when checking Facebook in Chrome, the error code I get is NET::ERR_SSL_OBSOLETE_VERSION relating to TLS 1.0 and 1.1. Are there other things I should try on my end as to the cause of this issue?

To my knowledge, the issue is only with Facebook. Other websites I frequent are connecting with no issues.

One reason why I liked Firefox so much were two tools in particular that have been inexplicably REMOVED by recent updates, View This Image (or Picture) and View Page Info. Now Firefox is just like everybody else and their brothers. I was wondering if there is an add-on or extension that addresses this deficiency.

I just noticed: Firefox no longer shows installed add-ons and extensions. WTF???
