In previous versions, I could open an image within the same tab, now you can only open it in a new tab and if it's on a malware site, tough luck. Also, for one Firefox process there used to be a single window in the taskbar, now it's one for each tab, and that's completely pointless.

Hey guys,

I'm running my laptop on the latest version of Fedora, and using the latest version of Firefox although this issues has been happening with previous versions of Firefox too.

I'm not sure why but I'll be working and using Google sites fine sometimes (mostly gmail, google, google slides), but other times i will put the address in and nothing will happen, no timeout or anything as if I didn't do anything. I was even working with Google slides one time and I got signed out in the middle of my work and had to use a different browser to access slides again.

Anyone have any idea what my issues is?

Thanks.

I have Firefox set to restore all my tabs that were showing on my previous session. My question is are those tabs actually "open" and adding to the workload of the laptop every day when I power up again? When I do click on one it takes a while to actually open, but during that session if I go back to that tab it instantly is open. I have several hundred tabs saved this way at any time, but am assuming they are not open until the 1st time I open one each session. Thanks!

Sometimes when loading a page, and the page is slow to respond, I will see a strange situation: The page is totally blank (the F12 tool does not display page content). The refresh button is gray (disabled), or sometimes although the refresh button enabled, the url textbox is "about:blank", which means I cannot actually reload the page I want to read. I have to re-navigate to the page through the link in the previous link. I'm not sure whether I got across. I hope the issue can be fixed.

I truly cannot fathom why a browser, in this day & age, cannot put the list of open tabs & windows in the drop-down menu, in even SOME KIND OF ORDER! But no, it's nothing more than a long list, impossible to filter in any way, that is not in chronological, alphabetical, order of most recent used, no option to list via website or page title, etc. This is so ridiculously frustrating, along with the molasses lack of speed in opening up windows or tabs, that I'm on the verge of just chucking this entire app, for good. Why do our state-of-the-art advanced technological devices and apps, feel more like we're going backwards, and not forward??

I have used firefox for many years and really like it overall. One real problem is not being able to open new tabs to my home page (or what ever page I define to open). I have contributed to the project several times over the years but I am considering a replacement because of this issue. My hope is you might provide some solution without an addon, which always brings overhead. Please advise. Joe

I have set a number of pinned tabs and leave a few other tabs always open. I set Firefox to restore the tabs when I close it and reopen it. Most of the time I have just one Firefox window open and this works fine. Occasionally, however, I need to open a second window usually with just one tab and if I forget and close the main Firefox window with the pinned tabs, etc before the single window one, Firefox reloads this single tab when I reopen it. Is there a way to avoid this behaviour?

Today, after I tried to uninstall some mouse drivers leading to a freeze and reboot, my firefox upon starting lost hundreds of open tabs I had, only restoring 1 tab which I am pretty sure I did not even have open. I have already followed solutions in similar problems like this (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1310742), which did not work. First I used shadowexplorer to recover sessionstorebackup files from a restore point on 10/15, most of which did not seem to open anything when using them with the scrounger tool. One of them did open, however it only showed 2 tabs when I would have had hundreds. None of these files did anything when I renamed them to sessionstore.jsonlz4 and placed them in the appropriate folder, even if I deleted the original sessionstore file. Firefox also seemed to be able to recover tabs which I opened after the loss of the original tabs, and renaming and replacing of the sessionstore file until I tried deleting the entire sessionstore backups folder.

I also tried simply doing a system restore back to 10/15, which also failed to help. After doing a system restore, I also tried the whole process of recovering sessionstore backup files and replacing them again, however nothing changed again. I also tried recovering the sessionstore.jsonlz4 file directly and using that to replace my current sessionstore.jsonlz4 file, but that also did not work. The replacement files do seem to contain tabs, as most of them are around a couple MBs large, but after I place them in and restart firefox they get reduced in size back to almost nothing.

The only thing I have not tried is using files from an even older restore point on 10/12, although after having restored to the 10/15 point my 10/12 restore point seems to have disappeared. I can try undoing the restore in order to try to view the 10/12 restore point again, but this process takes multiple hours and I would rather not.

How to Advise Mozilla that Capricious Changes to FireFox Interface are Unwelcome!

Perhaps some like change for its own sake. Many just want to use a browser to get work done.

I am Reticent to Upgrade FireFox because I now expect something To Change, To Break, I don't want the look and feel to change when I want to get work done! I want security fixes but broken features and a rearranged interface hinders the use of a browser.

Continuity is key to smooth use of a Browser. Moving menus, changing tabs, rearranging features, dumbing down menu titles is most unwelcome.

I particularly don't want browser interface changes intended for a tablet or pad for use on a desktop or laptop computer.

Changes to the Appearance should be OPT IN not OPT OUT.

Only the address bar is white and visible. I have New Tab Overide, and each new tab should open the Google home page. So something is going on... Recently after the last update I lost all the tabs and also the possibility to recover them through "restore recently closed windows", as it wasn't clickable anymore all of a sudden. Moving files in the firefox profile folder isn't making any difference, perhaps I'm not doing it correctly. Anyway I only have files from the day in which I lost everything, so nothing from days earlier as it seems. Please help, the tabs vanished all by themselves, I didn't have a role in it, though I absolutely need to get them back

my windows 10 20h2 computer crashed 8/29/2021. Firefox was up to date. I built a new computer. I have access to the files off the old hard drive. I have 5 Firefox windows open with over 100 tabs of items I am researching How to I get all the tabs and windows to open in chrome on the new computer? I copied the entire profile directory of files into the new profile folder on the new pc and it still opened only the 1 standard home tab. Since Firefox did not shut down properly I expected the restore pages prompt to come up. Current version of Firefox is 93.0 (64-bit)

Hi, I'm trying to find a way to disable Firefox from automatically switching to new tabs when I click "open to a new tab" (I do a lot of research so I like to open a bunch of links in a row, and constantly having to switch back is annoying lol) but I've been browsing all the advice/tutorials (most seem to be from 2018) but I seem to be missing some of the options? Specifically the option for this preference in the tab settings. Have they been removed or just moved? or is there something more I need to do to find them?

I'm also looking for the option that lets you toggle firefox warning you about closing multiple tabs

(the image with the fb container add on is my setting, the other is from a support site/tutorial)

My power died recently, after which I opened Firefox, expecting to be greeted with the about:sessionrestore page but it was just a blank white page for some reason. The tab name still had "about:sessionrestore" but it was just blank, no window to select and restore. I backed up the sessionstore-backups folder and found the session I need to restore (recovery.jsonlz4). I dunno why, when I uncompressed that file, it saved that broken session as well. So the file looks like {Session with broken about:sessionrestore page -> Broken about:sessionrestore tab -> Session I want -> Tabs I want}

Is there any way to manually restore this nested session? I attached some images to help clarify. I don't really know how to work with json files, I'm using a freeware viewer to read the uncompressed session file. Thanks for any help.
