hopefully I've chosen the right help category.

When I try to shut down or restart firefox (fully updated) the file in my system monitor called firefox-bin persists. I have to end or kill the process there to turn off the browser. Due to this situation, I cannot restart the browser in troubleshoot mode or anything else. It's cold start or nothing. 99% of what I use firefox for is youtube. There are a couple of channels that when I open a video, the page will not fully load and will not play. The comments won't load either. Also, while those tabs are open my CPU usage skyrockets and memory maxes out...which freezes the computer. It's not all channels.. maybe 4 so far. I've manually turned off all extensions/themes, rebooted and tried again.. no joy. Full system freeze. I've tried to do a clean reinstall over the old files in the Linux terminal.. it just says it's already updated. I could be doing that wrong since the instructions I found on this site only apply to windows and mac machines and I was kind of winging it. Thoughts on what I can do to fix things?

There's a button below this box that suggests sharing browser data.. I'm not using firefox right now, so that wouldn't help.

For the past few weeks, my PC reliably crashed after a few chess games on chess.com with Firefox. GPU and Memory benchmarks are running through without issues, it did crash when starting a Steam game once before, but I wasn't able to find out why. At this point, I'm really curious to learn about what could possibly cause this, but don't really know where to look for it. Really wondering what special thing is happening after a game there that doesn't happen with other websites/browsers. Would really appreciate your help!

Running Wayland on Archlinux 6.15.7 with AM5 CPU and DDR5 memory. Sometimes wondering if it's a graphics issue since my display is connected via the iGPU, but I also have an NVIDIA graphics card installed that I use for games sometimes.

I am running Firefox on Windows 10 64-bit, and I have lots of windows and tabs open. Occasionally I will get a message from Windows that I am running low on disk space. Recently I got the message, and I saw on my C-drive" "336,044,032 bytes free". After I did an Exit in Firefox, I saw "10,082,402,304 bytes free". The space that was freed was in the pagefile.sys file. Is this normal?

Updated to esr 128.14 Now Reddit (Redgifs) Hosting site for gifs crashes Firefox and cripples my PC. I've tried restarting in safe mode, then refreshing Firefox. Nothing is working. Reddit support just has an issue with the Gifs not playing, but nothing as extreme as what iam experiencing. I believe it may be something is preferences or a codec or something that was changed in the recent update. Any advice/ help would be great. Edit: OS is windows 10 latest updates Amd- Ryzen 7/32gig 3.20 ghz PC. So can handle a little bit of heavy browsing.. FF 128.14 esr Ext- Ublock Origin

       Search By Image
       Flash and Download Video.

Even with Addons disabled still occurs. Really at a loss here.

Firefox kept eating my RAM, running dozens of processes. I have gone into about:config and set the dom.ipc.processCount to 1 - then I restarted Firefox and found 5 processes running straightaway before even using the browser. I closed it down and have started it again and now there are 11 processes running with just one tab open. Firefox(9044) Utility(7552) JavaScript oracle Network (15912) Data Decoder (11364) GPU (18744) About pages (12536) Preloaded new tab Extensions (20544) Preallocated (16132) Preallocated (13780) Preallocated (16044)

The problem repeats on three different computers which are not infected with malware. One computer with slightly less RAM I now cant even use Firefox at all (though all other browsers work fine) because the tabs constantly crash due to the high number of processes. Is there any way to set the process limit low in a way that Firefox actually responds to?

When I sign in, multiple firefox open, causing my machine to run slow. I have to go to task manager, close all the firefox and start over. I usually have to do this several times before I can get signed on. Once on, the new Windows 11 seems to work well with Firefox.

I noted in the multiple firefox accounts the following Group or User Names in the Details section. Are these normal or could they be the source of my problems???

ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES ALL RESTRICTED APPLICATION PACKAGES ACCOUNT UNKOWN (S-1-15-3-1024-1238444810-1356253261-2257478630-1143196962-1563090664-2414759320-12821011916-4218287853) Following these were the regular System Admin groups I am used to seeing.

How to correct if a problem.

For YEARS now firefox has had a massive memory leak that continually eats up more and more of your ram until it inevitably consumes all of it and theres nothing left for windows crashing the PC. Even on startup it uses a disproportionately large amount of ram compared to any other web browser at 2.5 gigs, but it only crawls up from there, and if you leave it running for more than 24 hours your computer will start to stutter and slow to a crawl until it consumes all 32 gigs and crashes the computer unless you regularly restart firefox. And dont give me that unused ram is wasted ram crap, I need that ram to run other programs, 32gigs of ram being used to display one web page preventing me from running any other program on my computer and hindering the operation of the os is wasted ram! I can open up the same session on chrome and use less than a gig. And dont give me the lame ass check the firefox task manager solution either, because firefox's task manager gives you no information, it just says that a single tab is using a ridiculous amount of memory with no details. all my extensions together use less than a gigabyte, HOW HAS THIS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR SO LONG, AND WHY DO YOU REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT? There are countless forum posts asking for help with this very issue here and all over the internet.

Hello,

I have noticed that my CPU runs hotter when playing videos in Mozilla Firefox, for example streaming TV series. Youtube seems to be less affected.

My configuration is:

CPU AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D (16C/32T, up to 5.7 GHz, 128 MB, AM5) MBO Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite WiFi7, AMD AM5, WiFi, Bluetooth, ATX RAM G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB AMD Expo, 64 GB (2x32), DDR5 6000 MHz, CL30 SSD Samsung 9100 Pro, 2 TB, M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen5, R14700/W13300 GFX Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX9070XT Aorus Elite OC, 16 GB GDDR6 PSU Be QUIET! Dark Power 13, 1000W, 80+ Titanium, modular, ATX COOLER BE QUIET! Silent Loop 3 420 mm SOUND Creative SoundBlasterX AE-5 Plus, 5.1, PCIe, 70SB174000003 CASE BE QUIET! Shadow Base 800 FX, E-ATX, RGB, glass, black (4 1500 RPM light wings fans) EXTRA FAN BE QUIET! Light Wings, 140 mm, 1500 rpm, black OS Microsoft Windows 11 23H2 with all the latest updates

The normal CPU temperature was around 47 c (sometimes even 46 c), but it now goes up to 52-53 c. If I disable hardware acceleration, it goes up to 59 c. If I switch tabs to another that only has static content, the temperature drops.

Additionally, when doing the same thing in Google Chrome, the temperature is perfectly normal.

Is there any way to fix this?

Thank you in advance!

This has messed everything up. Firefox is not working. Thank you
