I use Firefox sync between multiple devices, including a desktop and a laptop on Ubuntu Linux. This is done through a Firefox account. Both Ubuntu devices mentioned run Firefox 108.0 for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.

I'm signed in on this Firefox account on my laptop (from which I'm writing this message). I recently (some months ago) changed my primary e-mail, since I may lose access to the older e-mail account soon. Now, suddenly, on my Ubuntu Desktop I received a message that I need to sign in to sync. When I click on "sign in", it takes me to tab that lists my primary e-mail address and asks for my password. I enter the password that I know is correct (it is listed under my saved logins on this Ubuntu laptop and the e-mail listed is the primary e-mail address with which I am signed in on my laptop, writing this message; it is also listed on my Firefox account details as my primary e-mail address). I then get a red message on tab stating "Primary account e-mail required for sign in", despite the fact that it is with my primary e-mail that I am attempting to sign in! I've tried it multiple times, to no avail.

At least two other users have posted about related concerns this year: (see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1368875 and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1395902). However, nothing has been done to resolve this issue. I have followed all instructions provided for changing my primary e-mail address. This is definitely a fault on Mozilla's side and not mine. Please resolve this urgently, users risk losing vast amounts of data, through no fault of their own, if you fail to do so.

Hello,

I'm using firefox sync with an own sync server.

Since a few weeks the synchronization of tabs doesn't work right. I use five devices. On my Macbook, the iPhone and the iPad mini I can see and reach the tab-sync of these three devices.

On another iPad and an Linux-PC, wich I added at last, I can see the tab-sync of all five devices.

How can I force the first three devices to sync the tabs of all five devices? I did alread several steps of testing and trying, like manual synchronization or remove and adding again all devices to the account.

It would be great to find some help! Thanks in advance and best regards - Daniel

Firefox Sync popups and emails after syncing new device

Hi

This is not a bug, just more of a feature request. Every time when I sync an account to a new device, I got a popup to sync another device and afterwards I get a mail on how to complete my sync setup and sync another device. I'd have no problem with it, if this is my first device that I am trying to sync. But I have several devices with the sync enabled, I am syncing from these devices and Mozilla knows this as it has history of devices where I was signed in and it can see that there are data to be synced so apparently this is not the first device you are trying to sync. Can we have an option to dismiss these messages and popups forever?

Thanks

I am trying to update the primary email associated with my Firefox account. My primary email is listed as <primary@domain.name>, for example. My secondary email is not assigned. When I try to add <preferred.email@domain.name> to my secondary email, I get the message: "Secondary email must be different than your account email"

I do not see this "account email" listed anywhere. Where do I find it, and how can I change it?

Many thanks, bd89

Firefox updates and decided to sing me out, and I had to reset the password of my sync account (I didn't remember it), this has already happened in the past, but this time Firefox also decided to delete all my synch data without a warning (I have then learned from the assistance that this is the actual procedure now).

so my question is: Is there a way to get access to my synch data after I change my password?

I recently (19th of May) had to reinstall Linux. I thought I had everything backed up, but apparently I forgot to backup my Firefox profile.

I'd lost a few years of bookmarks and my current session, but c'est la vie, back up better next time. I *did* have Firefox Sync, but after checking the support forums saying Sync is not a backup tool, I'd lost hope.

I *did* have an older device, so I booted that up to get up to about 18 months ago. But when I did so, I was able to get history and bookmarks up to the 14th of April (this year), despite not booting that device since long before then.

I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth, but where did this come from, and could the other 4 weeks be hiding there?

My current phone is about two years old and I've decided I ought to back up the history of useful links I've viewed in Firefox on that device.

Unfortunately the way i've kept track of stuff on my phone is by just never closing any useful tabs. (And of course because i don't always remember to close things when I'm done with them there are a lot of non-useful tabs mixed in as well.)

I have successfully created a Firefox account, signed in on both my phone and PC, and synced the two. The list of tabs shows up in the Synced Tabs sidebar in Firefox on PC.

However I'd like to save the pages to a more persistent format, presumably some kind of html list. The "normal" way to do this would be to open them in the PC browser, bookmark them all, and export the bookmarks.

However if i try so select "Open All in Tabs" i get this warning:

"You are about to open 1492 tabs. This might slow down Firefox while the pages are loading. Are you sure you want to continue?"

I fear for the life of my computer if i try to open 1.5 thousand tabs all at the same time. Is there some way to export the list of synced tabs without opening them all first?

A several year old page i found mentioned an "about:sync" page with a "Record Editor", but that doesn't seem to exist anymore. (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/50829318/export-synced-tabs-in-firefox)

If there's no way to export the Synced Tabs list in the UI, is the list saved somewhere in the profile folder in readable format?

Thanks!

After restarting my PC, out of the blue Firefox had signed me out, removed my bookmarks and history, etc. Luckily i have all this backed up onto my account and can see all the bookmarks and the like through Android Firefox, however whenever i sign in on my desktop to resync everything up it doesnt work and keeps requesting i sign in, which upon clicking just takes me to my signed in account. Ive restarted Firefox, Restarted my PC, cleared cache and cookies and even reinstalled firefox but the issue seems to persist.

Am I correct in thinking that Firefox sync ensures that an entry in say the Bookmarks folder is copied to all machines on my account. This implies that if I delete a bookmark on Machine A synch will find it on Machine B and replace it on Machine A. How then am I to delete unwanted entries other than by closing synch and deleting separately on each machine? Is there a facility for making one machine the master so that the remaining machines duplicate the master?

When I log in to the account of the Firefox browser to synchronize my settings, I find that there may be two different bookmark bars and extension settings. This phenomenon mainly occurs when I use the native browser of Ubuntu and connect to the Internet But the browser I downloaded from firefox china works most of the time Is there any way to eliminate this phenomenon? Perhaps specify an update and synchronization server?

I am going to travel and I want to wipe all my devices, then get to my destination and then reinstall firefox on my devices again and sync.

Will this work? Does mozilla have a copy of the data stored like "cloud"?

Or must I leave one device synced, but logged out?
