Just updated my Firefox. I had a huge tab group saved, and tons of bookmarks. I've been using firefox for months, I didn't have an account signed in on the browser though. I updated it and it had to restart, and everything was gone when it reopened. I even clicked that it should reopen tabs after restarting, but it just opened to tell me to make a profile. It told me that they just introduced profiles, and it put me on profile 1, which looked brand new. No browsing history whatsoever, no bookmarks, my background that I set is gone, and I cannot find anythign at all. I had over 50 bookmarks, inclyding very imprtant links for a final paper, and I'm genuinely so upset. Multiple of those bookmarks were things for me to go back to read/watch later and I will literally not be able to find them. If anyone has any tips at all, I'd love them. I am so seriously upset right now and I'm just hoping its possible for that to come back.

FireFox browser closed and when I opened it all my bookmarks are gone, all of my history is gone everything is gone as though I never ever used firefox in my life.

Bookmarks in Firefox disappeared and cannot import my Bookmarks backup. I have tried to restore an older Bookmark file through /manage bookmarks/ import and backup/restore to no avail. thank you

It seems to me that recovery from backup only allows one to recover ALL bookmarks. But maybe one wants to recover only one folder, or only a few folders. Can that be done? If so, how?

All my Firefox bookmarks are GONE. I followed the directions for restoration, and the Restore (etc) window has nothing in it. I saved the bookmarks to a JSON (HTML) file on an external hard drive, but I cannot find a way to restore them. I'm just about tired of Firefox and the consistent problems. Please restore my faith. Thank you.

I was gifted with the latest upgrade, and all of my passwords and bookmarks have been lost. I signed in with both of my primary emails, and both are acting as if they are new accounts.

After updating to Firefox 147.0.3 all of my browser history (along with open tabs at the time of updating) is lost. I just updated to Windows 11 workstations (plus a couple of older Windows 10 workstations) to the current (Feb 2026) updates too. However the history data was lost before the Windows updates. I noticed that with the previous update of Firefox that saved login information was also lost. Who is doing your program updates, a chimp?

In the past when an update was done the browser would open back up with all of the previous versions session tabs in tact. But not now.

I've lost several tabs of research that was being done. Based on what has been happening, I will HAVE to change to some other browser. This is a shame as I've been a loyal Firefox user since day one. Good bye Mozilla and Firefox.

My computer went through the process of updating Firebox. Afterwards all my bookmarks are gone. I clicked on Manage Bookmarks...then clicked on Import and Backup...then clicked on Restore which open a File dialog box. What file? Nothing is restore. I want the bookmarks restored.

I am unable to view my extensive bookmark list, which I have always accessed by clicking on the star button in the left margin of my screen. They suddenly disappeared yesterday.

with this new version i lost everything i need to get back to an older version and get all my extentions my bookmarks back all my s desktop items that i had linked to firefox are gone i can no longer get face book or anything back to firefox book marks every thing i had with firefox

Without my bookmarks I cannot operate. Bookmarks are a number 1 for me whilst using a browser. I will not use a Browser if there are no bookmarks - which there isnt at the moment on Firefox. They have gone. Unless this is fixed I am going to have to use a different browser. BYE Bye.

Like many people apparently, firefox on most of my gadgets has erased all my bookmarks (including the usual backups). I'm trying to recover with other browsers, but in the meantime, I'm curious about whether there's a succssful way to recover it. Replacing "Bookmarks" with a history of my requests isn't nearly the same thing. ;-)
