I made the mistake I will never make again of signing into a Mozilla account in Firefox. Suddenly everything about the browser was completely different. I realized it had synced to my primary computer without asking me a [expletive] thing about what I wanted to sync or if I wanted to do that now.

How do I unsync the second computer so that Firefox goes back to the way it was before the unexpected forced sync? I had those settings the way I wanted them for a reason.

Never seen this before. I installed v143.0.4 on 10/3. Since it was an extended length of time up to now, I went to check (Image 1 & 2)

I still wasn't convinced (Image 3)

Also, I never opt to "Automatically Install Updates". I don't know how that got selected, but even so, it did not work.

Explanation please?

Firefox repeatedly crashes on my, multiple times a day. I'dc really like to NOT have to change my default browser to Chrome.

What happens is that Firefox freezes, and I get a white bar at the top telling me so. I get a popup box asking if I want to close Firefox or wait for it to respond. Waiting doesn't work, so I always have to close Firefox. When I reopen it, fortunately all m,y open tabs are retained, but it crashes again within minutes or seconds as soon as I click on anything.

There only thing that seems to work is a reboot of my PC. But the respite is short before Firefox crashes again.

I've disabled most plugins, but that hasn't helped. Is there a way to create an event log within Firefox that I can share with someone at Mozilla to help e debug the issue? It's got to be something local rather than Firefox itself; I can't imagine this is happening to most users.

Hi all, I remember in older versions of Firefox (within the past 6 months) that pdfs embedded in a page would be a hyperlink that you had to click which would open in another tab. Now pdfs automatically open which is very annoying as it makes it difficult to read, while I found a way to open it in another tab I was wondering if there is a setting I can disable so I can just click on a hyperlink.

Thanks in advance

A couple days ago, some weird issues have started:

  • All my bookmarks are gone
  • Any of the buttons in the UI that open a smaller UI do not work (such as the 3 bar menu)
  • Similarly, right clicking to open a menu (such as "Save Image") also does not work
  • Any dropdown menus in websites seem to also not work. For example, in this very support page, I could not select an option in the "Which topic best describes your question?".

I can't restart and troubleshoot Firefox since I can't access the 3 bar menu.

Hi! I'm on a relatively new to me (refurb) desktop computer running Win 10 Pro (64 bit)* and Firefox 143.0.3.

In the past week both Firefox and Win 10 have updated. I don't know what happened, but now when I boot up or reboot, my computer opens to MS Edge. Yuck!

Every single time I have to reinstall Firefox! Once I do that, all is well again. I have all my bookmarks back, etc.

It also keeps changing my "default to Firefox" browser setting, turning it OFF, while I'm using Firefox. I repeatedly have to keep going in and clicking to make FF to the default browser again.

Why is it doing this? How do I stop it?

Anyway, I know I can't delete Edge or uninstall it. How do I shove it back into the black hole it has lived in until now?

Thanks very much in advance for any help offered. :)

Screen flickering and distortion during Firefox ESR usage, but screenshots remain normal (suspected TCON-related issue)

Environment - Device: Acer Neo 16 (PHN16-71), 2023 model - OS: Windows 11 23H2 (Build 22631.4974) - Browser: Firefox ESR 128.7.0esr (similar issue observed on 140esr)… (read more)

Environment - Device: Acer Neo 16 (PHN16-71), 2023 model - OS: Windows 11 23H2 (Build 22631.4974) - Browser: Firefox ESR 128.7.0esr (similar issue observed on 140esr) - Current version in use: Firefox ESR 143.0.4 (64-bit) - Graphics: Hybrid – Intel UMA + NVIDIA RTX 4060 - Drivers:

 - Intel UMA: 31.0.101.4146 (UMA-labeled)
 - NVIDIA: 551.76 (GeForce Game Ready Driver)

Issue Description While using Firefox ESR (128.7.0esr and 140esr), the laptop’s built-in screen occasionally begins to flicker, and after prolonged usage—especially when browsing Facebook for tens of minutes—it gradually develops severe distortion, resembling water damage or ripple effects.

Key observations: - Screenshots appear completely normal, indicating the framebuffer is unaffected. - No external monitor has been tested yet; the issue is only observed on the built-in panel. - Rebooting temporarily resolves the issue, but it recurs unpredictably. - This issue never occurred on my older laptop (Acer V3-772G) using the same ESR versions.

Steps to Reproduce 1. Launch Firefox ESR (128.7.0esr or 140esr) 2. Browse Facebook continuously for tens of minutes 3. Screen begins to flicker, then gradually distorts 4. Take a screenshot → image is normal 5. Reboot → screen returns to normal

✅ Expected Behavior The screen should remain visually stable during browser usage, without flickering or distortion.

Actual Behavior The built-in screen flickers and eventually distorts, while screenshots remain unaffected. This suggests the issue may lie in the final stage of the display output pipeline, possibly involving the TCON (Timing Controller) reacting to GPU output or Firefox’s rendering behavior.

Additional Notes

- Hardware acceleration was disabled in Firefox for testing — the issue still occurred (on older versions). - No similar behavior observed in Chrome or Edge. - BIOS screen appears normal, ruling out panel damage. - After upgrading to Firefox ESR 143.0.4 (64-bit), the distortion issue has not reappeared for two weeks, though minor flickering still occurs occasionally during browsing. - Interestingly, when distortion or flickering occurs while browsing Facebook, switching to another website immediately causes the screen to temporarily return to normal.

This suggests the issue may be triggered by specific rendering patterns or GPU calls on certain web pages.

- This may indicate a rare interaction between Firefox ESR and specific hardware configurations (UMA → TCON → panel).

I've used Slack every day for the past decade, and Firefox has been my primary browser for some time now. I've never had an issue with the two, but now, Firefox is reliably crashing every time I attempt to open Slack.

I've tried clearing my cache both broadly and specific to Slack, with neither producing results. Even tried deleting all cookies on Firefox, which was a bit of a pain, and it was no help.

I did read up on some people encountering a similar issue that could be fixed by deleting the Slack entry in "about:serviceworkers," but this did not help here.

The only extension I'm running is uBlock Origin, which I've been running for probably as long as I've been using Firefox, and that has never presented an issue before either.

Would appreciate any help or advice on the matter.

Windows 10, latest version.

I hit a shortcut, I think, and heard the trackpad, then one of the three open tabs was isolated from the rest in a separate, almost chromeless window.

It's not in the taskbar pop-ups but instead has its own icon. In this 'chromeless' window there is no option to add a tab or window, there is no area to move it (I have to carefully use emtpy space in between buttons to move it). The top just fell off, that's basically it.

I have never seen this and have been using Firefox from the start way back when. I didn't install anything; this just happened as I was reading something and accidentally touched a key. Nothing changed, no settings were adjusted, nothing.

This option is not in the tabs menu or anywhere. I must say I kinda like it for this one 'tab' (which is a solo chromeless window) but I do need the menu and so on for productivity.

One of the screenshots shows this 'window', the other shows that 'window' is not part of the regular pop-up tabs in the taskbar but rather has its own icon, as if it were an app, in that taskbar.

What in the world is this? Can someone help?
