When using Firefox, Yahoo often cuts in, usually with a DNS complaint, and won't let me connect. I don't use Yahoo. I continually strip it from the list of possible browser search choices, but it keeps coming back to the list, and makes itself my browser of choice. I keep correcting this, and it keeps coming back. It is causing me to have to use another browser most of the time, though I would prefer not to. Please tell me what I can do to prevent Yahoo from trying to control my computer!!!

My Firefox is 39.0, and my Mac 10.7.5. I believe Flash Player may be involved (maybe not) and that is version 18.0 r0, which is not allowed to act unless I tell it to.

Firefox v40.0.3, Win7 64-bit SP1 and up-to-date.

Somehow, probably due to a recent software install, Yahoo has hijacked my new tab behavior and I can no longer get to the New Tab tiles that I could do before when I create a new tab or new window (ctrl-t or ctrl-n). I have:

1. Changed the about:config browser.newtab.url entry to about:newtab; it was www.yahoo.com. 2. Removed Yahoo from the list of search engines and ensured that Google was at the top. 3. Followed the process at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customize-new-tab-page but I cannot find the cog icon on the New Tab page since I can't get a tab with the tiles (i.e. I can find the New Tab controls referred to on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/hide-or-display-sites-new-tab-page).

I would really like my tiles back.

att.net (att.yahoo.com) crashes constantly using Firefox with the error message "plug-in container.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close AppName: plug-incontainer.exe, AppVer 41.0.0.5738, ModName: mozglue.dll, ModVer: 41.0.0.5738, Offset: 0000ec7e".

All other websites such as foxnews.com, cnn.com, breitbart.com, etc, have no issues.

This problem started yesterday, 9-23-15. I did a Firefox "refresh", but the problem persists.

My OS is Windows XP with Service Pack 3.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Latest version of Firefox , always keep up to date .Windows 8.1 running on del optiplex 620 , 2gb ram , 80 gb disk partitioned with Win10 on the other .Running free Panda av and malwarebytes free . Never had any problems with Win 8.1 until now , I have gone back to it because of the many problems with Win 10 . Have checked event viewer , nothing , have checked for crash report , nothing . No malware reported . Every time the only solution is to stop Fox with task manager and then restart when Fox goes back to where it was .
