In Firefox 24.0 -> Tools -> Options -> Applications, I cannot choose a program (hh.exe) to read .chm files. When I choose to open a *.chm file I have only the option of saving it, not to open it. Other browsers like Explorer, chrome, even old netscape 7.2 allow me to open it and the program finds I presume the hh.exe file and away you go. I cannot find a way to get Firefox (my favorite browser) to read chm files.

When my screen is not maximized and a whole page won't fit in the available space, I need to move the bottom scrollbar to see the rest of a page. On some pages that works. On most it doesn't. Is there a way to fix this. It has never been a problem before now. I am using Window 8.1

I am running windows 8.1 on my lap top. I seem to have to alternate by changing my connection settings to open Firefox. After a session on the pc I can log back in with no problems. Shut down and go to log in again a few minutes later and I get the error message PROXEY SERVER IS REFUSING CONNECTION.
I have spoken to my provider and they tell e I do not have to have or should not need a proxry connection?. They also told me to try the following, which I have to admit is the only way I am now connecting to the internet.
Go to Tools-Advance-Connections. (configure how Firefox connects to the internet. SETTINGS.
In the window that opens I need to go to first option (configure proxies to connect to the internet) Here you are given three more options: 1.No Proxy 2.Autodetect Proxy 3Manual Proxy
If the box is checked for (2) above, I have to uncheck and check (3) above. Then restart the browser. It works fine....that is until I log out of Firefox. Go back in and I get the same error message, Proxy server refusing connection. This happens from time to time....not always. Some days it works fine on the last setting chosen. So I go through everything again as explained above and uncheck manual andthen I re check Autodetect....and it works. Next time it's the other way around, I just feel like a tennis ball bouncing from one option to the other and I should not have to be doing this. Never happened when I used XP or Vista?.

When i upgraded to windows 8.1 the arrows with the bookmark folders became too large and i cant use 100% DPI as its too small even with adjustments and visually depressing - its the same on all my laptops and PC.s - it wasn't this way with windows 8 - its obviously something Microsoft have done but can you fix it - i have seen this problem before can you help - anything other than 100% DPI causes the arrows to be huge - screen resolution has no relationship to the problem - thanking you.

Just open up nbcnews.com, click any article, use the back button's drop down menu to see that there is only one page to go back to, the nbc home page. Now scroll down to the bottom of the article and now check the back button again. It's full of history for this single page. So now getting back to the nbc home page requires lots of clicks. So Annoying.

If you use Data Syncing then this is attempted every time you start Firefox. If you also use a Master Password then it tries to sync your passwords every time you start Firefox too. This means that every time you start Firefox it asks you for the Master Password. This is incredibly irritating.
I realize that you need to sync at the beginning of a new session but would it be possible to delay the syncing of passwords until the user actually needs to use a password (i.e. the default behavior for using a Master Password without syncing). After all, it doesn't matter if the passwords are not synchronized if they are not being used. When a password is actually required then Master Password could be requested and the stored passwords could be synchronized if the correct Master Password is supplied.

I recently downloaded FF 25.0 on a new computer (Samsung Series 9) and web pages don't render correctly though I used default settings and have same extensions (all in one sidebar and list it). I asked our tech person and he said "Your CSS isn't loading. Try clearing your cache and restarting your browser". This worked but now I find I have to repeatedly do it as many as a few times a day, with varied websites, and once it happens, all websites won't render correctly. I don't want to have to switch to chrome, please help! Here is a screenshot.

The issue started yesterday on 11/8/13. I would click on a Youtube video and it will play perfectly throughout the entire length of the video. Once it is done however, when I click the replay button, the video returns to the 0:00 play mark, but the video won't play. I try moving it to the different intervals of the video, for example , maybe 1:20 mark or 2:24 mark, etc, and it'll just return to the 0:00 mark of the video and won't play at all. To test if this was a computer malfunction or just a Firefox one, I tried doing the same thing on my Internet Explorer browser, and Youtube works perfectly fine on it, replay or otherwise, so I narrowed it down to a Firefox issue on my computer. Is there a way to fix this issue?
And this website isn't listed on the exception page. I have tried closing my my browser and even restarting my computer with no success.

Hello,
I have been having constant problems with Firefox and Windows 8. What will happen is that Firefox will lock up my entire computer piece by piece until I am unable to interact with anything, after 1 - 2 minutes, the system will work again. Checking event logs shows nothing. The system does not crash but simply slows everything down until no movement is possible then it works. I honestly do not know how to fix this and any advice from anyone will be helpful. Below is a list of everything that I have done. It will happen with one tab or multiple tabs. It will happen on ANY site.
Specs: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-Bit AMD FX 8120 CPU 16GB DDR3 1066 120GB SSD Boot Drive 6870 2GB Video Card
Completely reinstalled Windows. - One of the first applications (after drivers of course) was FF. Started happening almost immediately.
Upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 - No Change
Disabled HW acceleration - No change
Enabled HW acceleration - No Change
Changed Flash to click to enable - No change
Updated BIOS - No Change
Updated video card drivers - No Change
Set FF to run as admin - No Change
Disabled C State in my CPU - No Change
Ran FF in comparability mode - No Change
Updated sequentially to other FF versions - No Change
This is pretty infuriating when I am trying to work. I love FF and although I am OK using IE, and have no issues there.
Please help!
Is there a way to have FF start automatically when I start my pc?
