I decided to try exporting my Facebook Messenger E2E encrypted chats, however I keep running into a variety of problems, because the process is simply badly written. By default, the process breaks when the website local storage data reaches 10GB - that is, as far as I understand, a Firefox limit. There is still plenty of RAM and disk space remaining. When the local storage hits 10GB, you get a "Quota exceeded" DOM Exception.

To get around that, I've changed browser.cache.disk.smart_size.enabled -> False browser.cache.disk.capacity -> 50GB (values in KB of course) dom.storage.default_quota -> 25GB dom.storage.default_site_quota -> 25GB browser.cache.disk.max_entry_size -> 256MB (seemed like some larger files were missing, like longer videos)

However the process still breaks, although I'm unsure if it wasn't a soft-limit by Facebook the last time (since it stopped downloading around 8,5-9GB, earlier than in previous attempts)

Are there more settings that could be limiting the export apart from those mentioned? I understand this is pushing the browser over the reasonable limits, however I still hope it is possible to override them for that one-off situation before reverting to defaults.

Hi, Recently and despite upating to the latest Firefox Browser, when I try to use BT Email groups it offers it as I type and I select. It then just shows the first character of the group or email surrounded by a red box and a x next to it and doesn't expand into the members of the group. This automatically suplied email recipient address is invalid. I've tried clearing the cache for the webpage to no avail. The problem doesn't occur in the Chrome browser. Kind regards Michael

How can I get Firefox to stop automatically downloading links? I've selected the "ask me" option in settings and that doesn't stop it. In the past it worked fine but for the last several months I've tried everything and it won't ask me what file to put it in. Now, every PDF gets automatically sent to my Adobe cloud (which I definitely don't want as I'm planning to ditch Adobe at the end of my current subscription) and I have to go through a convoluted work around to even be able to get it downloaded into the file where I need it to be. Have used Firefox for years, always do current updates. Still using Win10. After browsing for a few minutes, hard drive activity increases and the mouse and keyboard become unresponsive, returning very briefly for a second or two, before once again being unresponsive. After 10 min. or so, system returns to normal. This only happens while using Firefox. MS Edge, with all the same extensions, has no problem. Have searched many times, but no useful help is found. Have already un-checked hardware acceleration, and cleared caches, Am ready to give up and switch to Edge. Any help?

i have 4 accounts on firefox and i cannot remember which account i have been used through years now i cannot sync my old data however i have tried the 4 emails and accounts i used and non of them is working

Hello, I've turned the VPN on in my firefox web browser, but some sites are still blocking me even though it says I'm in the US when I look up my IP Address. Just thought you should know. Thanks.

Places where I've observed this behaviour:

• The 4th video in the description of https://store.steampowered.com/app/1363080/Manor_Lords/ (ignore the media carousel at the top of the page)
• This video https://dolphin-emu.org/m/user/blog/progress-report/2603/rebelstrike-texturestreaming-av1.webm that's loaded in an embed at https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2026/03/12/dolphin-progress-report-release-2603/

When these videos are in view and playing, they're decoded using the CPU and the browsers frame rate tanks (heavy/laggy scrolling when scrolling with mouse scroll wheel), I have a Geforce 3070 which includes support for AV1 decoding so I'm not sure what's happening.

AV1 videos found on Youtube like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foqVJq-XPTg are fully hardware accelerated by the GPU (Stats for nerds confirms it's playing an AV1 copy) and doesn't exhibit any performance issue.

GPU usage is monitored by Task Manager in Windows 10. For the problematic videos the GPU Decoding is at 0% with a workload being spread across many of the CPU cores. For the non-problematic 4K video the GPU Decoding is around 60-70% and no workload is distributed across multiple CPU cores.

The first time i'm installing Firefox it quickly made me fall in love with this browser and wanted to fully migrate from Chrome to Firefox, it's more lightweight, has more customization, fully private & secure. But there is only one thing that made me just almost migrate to Firefox, or just 99% complete transitioning to Firefox, and that is me unable downloading. Yes, thats it and it's pretty annoying. I just able downloading pictures, but not when i'm downloading an apps or software like Discord for example. PLEASE HELP ME, MY LAPTOP (X240) IS VERY OLD AND I NEED EVERY PERFORMANCE ON MY LAPTOP FOR WORKSTATION PLUS WITH THIS RAM PRICES (ykwim). Tomorrow i'm planning to switch to Linux (Mint MATE) and i have to do dual-boot just incase there is some software i'm unable to use at Linux. So please, help me. Give each step with no technical explanation, and use beginner languange so i'm easier to understand.

In Australia, the Government Weather Bureau Service website site is WWW.bom.gov.au. When try to connection to various pages on this website, it can take up to 15 secs for page to appear. If I use Chrome, this problem does not occur. On searching Google, one suggestion is the fact that WWW.bom.gov.au only allows unsecured access ie. only allows http:// access not https://. Is there a setting in Firefox which will allow both types of access? I have tried in Settings/Privacy&Security/HTTPS-Only Mode to allow exceptions, but this does nothing. Any advice please. HTTPS pages are no longer loading. Everything works fine in Microsoft Edge. I've reinstalled Firefox several times – the problem persists. Thank you very much for your help.

When I try to print puzzles daily from USA Today through Firefox, the crossword and/or the sudoku show up in the print box as 2 pages, when they are only 1, unnecessarily printing a blank page. If I print through Chrome instead, it only shows and prints 1 page. In order to print only one page in Firefox, I have to change the "pages" from all to current. Never used to have this problem.

Hello, I was using a cleaner program called "Cleaner One Pro" and I mistakenly let it clean my main firefox profile, and then I backed up my system afterward, unknowingly overwriting my recent backup. When I tried running firefox again, it had regressed to an earlier snapshot of my profile and was reloading all my tabs as well. Also, all my previous sessions and my history was all erased. This program should not have erased those, and if it had not, I could have simply let the tabs reload and been fine. So my profile was left in an earlier state with no way to recover current tabs. I have many, many, many open tabs on firefox, which has NEVER been a problem whatsoever. All my tabs were in an earlier version. I, however, found that firefox had made a partial backup of my profile into another folder in the same folder as my profile, but this backup was not complete, and trying to use it as a complete profile resulted in only a few tabs open at all, worse than even before. But this limited backup included my complete, current history. Are there any other file or files in this limited profile backup that I could use to restore my open tabs? I am using the absolute latest and newest version of firefox. My sessions and similar files are missing from both folders. It seems this funny little partial profile backup was made, and I was hoping there was a way to restore my open tabs from this little, smaller, partial firefox backup profile folder. Has anyone ever seen this, and how can I recover?

As of now, I restored an 11-day old profile and was able to import my new history into that using an extension, and if worst came to worst, I could at least recover my history and all the sites in that time of the missing 11 days I had went into, but I was hoping to recover my current tabs from that time as well. In this limited profile backup folder that exists next to the profile folder that was trashed, Is there any other file besides the session files that could have stored my open tabs, that I somehow didn't see or know about, which I could use to get my tabs back? I would willingly let firefox reload my tabs if possible to restore them as they were before this happened.

I got a message on my Win10 PC saying, "Your Firefox profile can not be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."

Mozilla help suggests looking in %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\. I did this but don't know what to do next.

I have another Win10 PC where Mozilla still works, and they do sync. Should I copy some of the Mozilla folders from it to the first PC to restore the problem? Which ones?

BTW, I can still run the Mozilla TOR Browser on the first PC. Thank you!
