Firefox 108.0.1 on Windows 10 X64 Pro

I'm seeing some very weird behavior and want to know how to troubleshoot it.

A specific website (pfSense admin) sends a form to edit some parameters. The form contains input fields like

   <input class="form-control" name="mac" id="mac" type="text" value="a4:bb:6d:e3:46:da" placeholder="xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx">

What I see in my Firefox instance is that the value is missing. Examining the source it looks like this:

   <input class="form-control" name="mac" id="mac" type="text" placeholder="xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx">

The `value=` attribute has been surgically excised.

What I have done:

  • Accessed the same website in MSEdge - The values are present
  • Dumped the page source from both MSEdge and Firefox and compared them. Apart from a couple of expected differences (CSRF token), the resulting HTML is identical except for the missing `value=` attribute.
  • Started Firefox in Safe Mode - Same problem
  • Examined the data stream in the Network tab of the developer tools - The `value=`attribute is missing even this early in the process.

Finally I created a completely new Firefox profile, and voilà, it works.

So the question is what setting in my default profile could possibly have the effect of making that single specific change to the data stream? Based on the Network trace, whatever is doing this is occurring extremely early in page processing.

How do I troubleshoot this?

Hello, after the new year, one particular page (the intranet of our company) does not open for me in firefox. It will open normally in Chrome and other browsers. But after entering the page in firefox, nothing happens, as if I didn't press enter/send and the previous content is still in the window. I completely uninstalled Firefox, but even after a new installation the problem was not solved. Where could the problem be? Thank you, Peter

I downloaded some custom fonts that are extremely stylized, so it works well for art but not so well for actually reading text.

For some reason, Firefox is now replacing the fonts on various websites with one of these fonts, despite having all of my Firefox font settings set to default.

CORS errors blocking a Custom SharePoint Web Part from communicating to the RSS Feed source to display on the SharePoint page ONLY on Firefox! Chrome and Edge displayed the web part contents but I got this CORS error with Firefox. My research has shown this is strict security settings from the RSS feed service provider but my company's non-technical staff insisted it was my web part that caused it.

Please inform me of any other way to make my web part display contents by ELIMINATING this Cors error on Firefox. Please see the attached image.

Just started last few days. NY Post articles often have "What do you think? Post a Comment." Day before yesterday, I encountered "What do you think? Be the first to Comment." Didn't think at the time and had nothing to say. Now, every article says "...Be the first..." but the link to post doesn't work. Nothing happens. Since it happened on several articles that were not really new and that there would have to have been comments, I opened the article in Edge. There they were: 412 comments and "Join the conversation." Chrome? No problem. Opera? OK, too. Closed and reopened Firefox. Nope.

I've not added any new security. I turned off Malwarebytes Browser Guard. That made no difference. Again only Firefox--my only browser except when I need to look at a website without my account logging in--seems to be affected.

Thanks. Bill

I updated to Firefox 109 on my CentOS 9 Stream system. I noted that streaming video did not work. I tested with Disney+ and the CW TV network. I changed a few settings, and I have a subscription to Disney+ but CWTV is free for all to connect to (well, at least in the US, I can't guarantee overseas access). So, what is the problem? Well, it is two-fold. On Disney+, I get video and closed captioning but just a low steady beeping tone instead of audio. On CWTV, I get nothing but a green screen and that same tone. It is not an issue with the codecs or the OS, because Google Chrome 109.0.5414.74 displays them perfectly fine. I should note that before I started tweaking settings, I kept getting the FFMPEG errors that plague most people. See the settings below in the shared data.

I know this has been referred to in other topics but they appear they have been closed without a resolution from Firefox. This problem is one of the many reasons users should not take the updates that Firefox forces upon you: too many problems incorporated which take too long to fix. It took me a long while to find a working method which Firefox wouldn't broadcast, but I got there in the end. Google just doesn't update, it broadcast the changes well in advance allowing developers to adapt before the roll out. Developers who don't work for Firefox that is! I had stopped updates as they make more problems than they fix, but had to try the latest as Google maps stopped working: All I get is a blank webpage with nothing showing. Others have suggested a plugin etc. etc. etc., but this does not solve the fact that other browser don't have this problem and neither does Firefox! What! You read this right! version 52.0 works without a hitch with Google maps, so a way of getting Firefox to work is to revert to a previous version which doesn't have the dodgy embedded code. So why exactly are we waiting for an update for something that has worked in the past but has now stopped because the developers either don't know how to fix it or can't be bothered. Firefox are clearly showing they are not coping with updates as well as the competition. I use the term loosely, as Firefox appear to have given up entirely!

FF 109.0 on W10 Pro 64-bit

I am finding some websites, which require buttons to be pushed to either move to another page or to drop down some further options. In the first instance, a coloured button on a white screen ("Next" etc.) is surrounded by dotted lines when "moused", but doesn't cause a move. In the second, clicking on a caption on a white screen should cause the upper screen to darken and offer further caption options, in white.

I attach screenshots of the "dropdown" problem taken on another browser (Chrome-based) which does work. NS1 shows the first screen, and NS2 the next correct option.

The website in question has as many privileges as can be given it (popups, trackers allowed etc.) but it doesn't make any difference.

As I mention, Chrome browsers work OK with this.

I have also found that other websites, usually to do with processing an online purchase, also behave poorly, with non-functioning buttons. I'm sure that some of it is down to poor website design, but not all.

Having tested all the settings, I am reluctantly drawn to the conclusion that this might be yet another add-on-caused problem. In normal circumstances, I would tackle this with the "binary elimination" of add-ons (turn off half, in half Y/N etc.). However, as this is a financial site which is itself a nightmare to use when running properly, and I cannot keep logging on and off, as eventually it will probably block me (and me from my money) as some sort of security thing.

If anyone has any suggestions or experience of this problem, I'd welcome a heads-up. Otherwise it'll be other browsers only.

Hi All,

I'm having a strange problem displaying eBay correctly in FF 109.

The font displays as a Times Roman style, instead of the usual Helvetica style.

Only the "Purchases" page has this issue, all other eBay pages display correctly.

Firefox 88 displayed this eBay page correctly, but Firefox 109 does not.

This issue occurs "installed out of the box", even without userChrome.css edits applied.

Please see attached screenshots.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
