I've seen that there was a similar issue back in October with a previous version. Tried to follow instructions and reinstaled firefox from mozilla. But the problem is still there. Restarted after reinstalling and still getting the same error message. ((( Please help )))

So I need to update my Firefox Browser to 128 BUT somehow "Updates disabled by your system administrator." and as I am the only user I have never set up an administrator.
So I have had a look and I don't understand most of what I am reading.
So about:policies.... DisableAppUpdate true So how do I change that? I have looked at Reg Editor but have no idea what I am looking at.
It took me a long time to update to Firefox 121 because I did not like some of the changes Mozilla did to it like spacing between Bookmarks in the dropdown so to update again is a big thing for me. Attached as much as I think is relevant. Any help will be much appreciated.

I have OLD imacs. The one I'm on now says 2017 and according to some homework, the latest version of Firefox I can run on IOS 10.13.6 is version 115.
WHERE do I FIND that?
I went to mozillas page and there was only one place to update firefox. I went ahead and tried, then got a pop up saying to restart.... did. Then got some helper thing suppose to download, put in my computers password, and NOTHING seems to happen. Nothing at all. Downloads like this usually involve a spinning wheel, or bar showing progress, SOMETHING. I didn't get anything.
Restarted firefox, and every time I go to about firefox to see if it updated, the same pop up shows up. (Will attach a screenshot of it.)
If I look under applications/firefox, it has NOT updated at all.
I'm guessing it's updating to the latest greatest version which MY computer cannot run. SO where do I find VERSION 115?

I have received the 14 Jan Mozilla Update warning a few times now, and I have tried to update Firefox, but it seems my computer sytem is now too old - iMac 0X El Capitan 10.11.6. PLEASE NOTE, I have an iMac from early 2009 and I am now unable to update my system to any other Mac version.
I lost all my saved pages and bookmarks recently when I tried to update Firefox using the instructions online. Unfortunately it was only after updating removed old Firefox that I was then informed that I would not be able to use the new version with my computer. I was able to resurrect my old Firefox from a backup, and would like to continue to use it as I am very happy with Firefox as a browser.
Are there any work-arounds that would allow me to use Firefox on my iMac - it is working perfectly and has just been cleaned and I've had a new hard drive installed - it seems incredibly wasteful to have to buy a new computer! Yours hopefully!

Last night the 15th January 2025, the firefox decided to update, buy it self closing the browser, however when it restarted it now comes up an Error, something along the lines of 134.0.1 and 134.0 MinVersion, if you have seen this you will know what I mean, it suggested to reinstall firefox, with that I did and I tried to porting all the setting and data and every thing, however it didnot import.
Where can I find the previous version that generated the error to start the import again... as there are links that I simply can not get any more
Cheers

Ok, I can't reinstall Firefox because I have data, links and other that I no longer have access to link website links.
What is the next solution please as Firefox is my default and main browser.... or is it time to move away from firefox.?
I tried to import date and others however it was not an easy task to do, and I have to System Restore to once again get the Error that stops Firefox, is there a way of undoing the update that firefox installed ?

An update to Firefox started in the background. You’ll need to restart to finish the update.
Your windows and tabs will be quickly restored, but private ones will not."
I have automatic updates disabled in Firefox settings, and I have gone into about:config and set app.update.auto.migrated to false, and yet this issue persists. It seems like Firefox is ignoring my preferences. I don't wish to restart Firefox while I'm in the middle of a bunch of work. How can I get past this message and continue using Firefox without restarting? Do I need to delete update files or something?
This random surprise block to my work is ridiculous. We need the flexibility to update/restart Firefox only whenever we're ready to.

I can't seem to update to the latest version of Firefox.
Steps on macOS 15.2: 1. In previous version of Firefox, get dialog to update to current version of Firefox 2. Click Restart to update Firefox. 3. Enter admin user name and password to allow Firefox to install a helper 4. Got a request to let Firefox access my devices. My devices are not Firefox's business, so I replied Don't allow. Note: 3 and 4 may have been swapped.
Expected result: Get a dialog that Mozilla corp has installed something; Firefox relaunches with the new version
Actual result: Get a dialog that Mozilla corp has installed something
Attempted workaround:
5. Click Firefox icon in the dock
Expected result: Firefox launches
Actual result: Get dialog asking me to enter admin user name and password to allow Firefox to install a helper.
6. I do so.
Expected result: Get a dialog that Mozilla corp has installed something; Firefox relaunches with the new version
Actual result: Get a dialog that Mozilla corp has installed something
Attempted workaround:
7. Click Firefox icon in the dock
And I get a strange feeling of deja vu as the process repeats and I am unable to launch Firefox.
If I look at the macOS console and filter on Mozilla, I notice these two messages from org.mozilla.updater:

After the last update a couple days ago Firefox does not come up correctly. Search doesn't work. Duck Duck Go seems to be the default search engine and Google is missing from the selection list when the left mouse button is pushed. I really don't know how to describe the problem. It does come up in troubleshoot mode more-or-less correctly. Something odd happened during the update. A screen came up with some sort of message about having run into some sort of odd problem and that it would have to stop and restart the process, which it did. Hasn't worked properly since.

I'm running Firefox 139.0.1 on Mac Sonoma 14.7.1.
Since FF V138, I've had this extremely frustrating problem where, approximately once a day and while the application is still running, Firefox seems to either auto-revert to an older version' 'or otherwise mess up the installation files. I don't get any notice this is happening until I try to open a new tab and it brings up the "You must restart Firefox" notice. When I click Restart, it pops up with "You've launched an older version of Firefox, so you won't keep any of your bookmarks because that would be unstable" error.
The only way I've found to fix it is to redownload the most recent install files, which, after the fresh install, will allow me to keep using Firefox with my bookmarks for the next 5-6 hours, before the whole process starts again.
I theoretically have auto-updates off; my settings are set to the other option, "Check for updates but let you choose to install them". Doesn't seem to make a difference. It only does this on my Mac; the FF install on my Windows machine works fine.
I really want to keep using FF. It's my preferred personal browser. But this is really messing with me! I was hopeful that 139.1 would fix it but same issue, so far.

How should I fix the frozen browser.
