The Firefox update of 25 March has obliterated the previous settings I created.

As a lady approaching 80, I am very disappointed, frustrated and annoyed that the settings I laboriously created have been obliterated by this latest update.

So far, it is apparent that areas concerned are the appearance of the screen - location of bookmarks list, font size, task bar and menu bar displays, items included in the tool bar. My chosen browser is DuckDuck but Bing was reinstated. No doubt, further unwanted modifications to the way I wish Firefox to operate have been loaded.

Can this situation be easily corrected or would deinstalling this latest update and reverting to the previous edition of Firefox return my chosen settings to me?

May I say that I am not a computer "nerd" and am unfamiliar with much computer terminology and would, therefore, be grateful for any instructions to be phased in simple terms.

I would like to setup Firefox so it checks for updates and installs them during maintenance windows (overnight) and runs the updates as 'system' account.

I tried using the following GPO settings

Application Autoupdate Enabled Background updater Enabled Disable Firefox Studies Enabled Disable Telemetry Enabled Disable Update Disabled Don't Check Default Browser Enabled

This seems to create Schedule tasks in Windows task scheduler, but the tasks are running as previously logged on user accounts. which doesn't help us in this particular environment.

I know we can manually push out the latest version via creating new MCM application pushes but the amount of updates that are coming down is a labor intensive exercise and we don't have the budget for PatchMyPC

Please post any thoughts!

Getting Three Consecutive 10016 DCOM Warnings in Event Viewer Every Time I Open Firefox After Updating to 147.0

Hello all, I have two HP computers running Win10 home on the ESU program and will be buying new computers in several months with Win11 factory installed. One is an Omen desktop and the other is a Envy laptop. I noticed in my Event Viewer after updating Firefox to 147 that I am now getting three consecutive 10016 DCOM Warnings every time I open Firefox. This has never happened before in all the years I have used Firefox. Now I completely understand that we should just ignore 10016 DCOM https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/application-management/event-10016-logged-when-accessing-dcom but I find it strange that all of a sudden it is now happening and only for Firefox and on both computers. I do have the procedure to fix DCOM errors but do not like messing with the registry and permissions even though I have in the past with no problems but there is always that chance that it could and I do not want to risk it. I was wondering if any other users are seeing this in their Event Viewer System Log for Firefox or is this a known or unknown Firefox update problem or what.

Respectfully, Don

When firefox releases an update I find out when I try to use my browser for something. Im on the fly paying a bill and I want to get it done but oh its firefox update time and I dont have an instant choice stop that. I have first tell my security system that I dont want to make changes to my software at this moment I wanbt to use the browser for something important to Me. But still firefox wont let me. I have to wait till it processes my denial then comes the irritatin popup about download or dismiss and I have to respond to that wasting more critial moments for me then after a few more precious to me moments firfox will open and let me use it. This irritates the hell out of me and the worst part is if I dont waste more of my time performing the update when firefox chooses it will shanghai my browser all over again every time until I update. The worst thing is sometimes updates comie in rapid succession. Major irritation. How do I stop this? whats the work around here? I want to up date when it suits me not when it suit firefox.

Hi,

did anyone else experienced a lot of problems after the latest update (149.0) has installed? I'm having a lot of trouble now:

1. The "New Tab" doesn't work at all, clicking on the plus does nothing, pressing ctrl + t does nothing aswell. 2. The search bar on home page doesn't work, I can't type anything in it 3. I tried to access settings, but the menu looks like on attached screenshot. I clicked on a spot where settings supposed to be, and nothing happened. Furthermore, all the menus look like this, they're simply empty, without any text. 4. Reinstalling didn't help. I want to try not to uninstall Firefox entirelly, because I don't want to risk losing all the saved bookmarks, history, passwords, etc. 5. So far I've experienced these problems on one computer, on the other everything looks fine, so it doesn't seem to be a global problem 6. Any ideas, apart from removing the browser and trying a fresh installation?

I installed Firefox 147.0 using Firefox Setup 147.0.exe to D:\Programs\Mozilla firefox.

After updating Firefox to 147.0.1 via the Help menu, two Firefox entries appeared in the “Settings” app list.

Why did it become multiple?

Will the number of Firefox entries in the app list keep increasing forever with every future update?

Problem Description

In a server-based environment, I need to implement automatic updates for Mozilla Firefox, while maintaining strict outbound network control.

The architectural requirement is as follows: • Only the update component should be allowed to access the Internet via a proxy. • The browser itself (user browsing sessions) must not inherit or use that proxy configuration. • The proxy configuration for the update mechanism should be logically separated from the browser’s network configuration.

The Issue

In contrast to the update mechanism used by Google Chrome (Google Update / Omaha), where: • The updater runs as a separate system service • It supports dedicated proxy configuration • It does not inherit browser-level proxy settings • It allows granular control of outbound traffic exclusively for update operations

In Mozilla Firefox: • The update mechanism is tightly integrated with the browser • There is no native, dedicated proxy configuration exclusively for the updater • Proxy configuration applies to the entire browser • It is difficult to implement an “update-only network access” model

Hello, since your I have donwloaded your latest Firefox update I have multiple issues with Firefox 147.0.4 on macos Tahoe version 26.3

If you google "using firefox on mac os tahoe 26.3" you will see that I am not alone.

I have been using Firefox for many years, and do not understand why newer Firefox versions are not fully tested before being released on the "market".

You are not alone; Google has also the same problem on macos Tahoe version 26.3. Might be good to contact Apple to solve this issue, before a domino effect!

Cordially
