I swear I thought I read something like this in the release notes, but now going back I can't find anything. I noticed some occasional skips in Pandora today, could be network congestion, but it's never happened before. Then I thought I remembered something got changed with regards to how flash objects are handled when not in focus or something.

printing the update failed message indicates you already know the cause of the failure, why no fix the code, instead of displaying the error message?

If you recall Windows 98 at one point during the installation you got a message that said "If your computer seems to not be responding for a really long time, reboot the computer". Problem with this instruction is the coders (in this case Microsoft) are aware there is a problem during the installation, otherwise, what would be the point of printing this message? So if you know the problem exists, why not fix it, instead of printing a message like that?

Which brings me to the "Update installation failed" message printed by Firefox, when it fails to update itself. Why would you code the software to tell the user the update failed, instead of just fixing the problem? Doesn't make much sense to me.

I just refreshed Firefox after a crash when things stopped working and it took me a day to get everything back to how it was before. I use an older version because some things in a newer version do not work well with my older OS or with me.... But stupid me forgot to check that Firefox does not install updates for newer versions. So when I will restart, I'm upgraded to a newer version that I do not want to be installed. Is there a way to simply remove these pending updates without the need to restart and then uninstall and reinstall the older version - and having to go through re-tweaking once more?

At first, I did the updates everytime I was prompted and got the latest version several days in a row. I continue to get the same reminders numerous times a day even if I've just updated, including every time Firefox is closed and reopened. It is extremely irritating as this is my work laptop.

For a while now, the update box that appears to tell me that there is a new update now opens up with a message that says it does not know if my system is up to date or not. I have to click on a link that opens a website to tell me if I am up to date. Is there a problem with this? Well, obviously, there is, but is it just me or is this a known issue and one that hopefully has a resolution?
