I've been using Firefox for a long time now, and I seem to have an absurd issue where I've updated Firefox and it's turned into Firefox for Mobile. Everything is horrendously bloated, and slow to use. Tabs take up an enormous amount of horizontal space, and that's actually much less of a problem than the amount of vertical space that's being taken up.

I went into the customisation settings, and believed I'd solved my problem when I could swap between "Normal" and "Touch". I believe these have been mislabelled, as they actually appear to be "Mobile" and "Micro-screen". I've been able to re-enable "Normal" through about:config, although I know that's going to be removed soon, at which point I'll have to find a desktop browser again. Although even this is too large and bloated for some strange reason.

However, while that at least temporarily solves the issue of the tab bar's height being incorrectly rendered at twice the size a sensible UX designer would put it as for use on a desktop machine, it doesn't fix the side menu which also suddenly has this absurd bloating between options. I now actually need to scroll in order to see anything below "Settings".

My main question would be: Does anybody at Mozilla use a desktop PC? Or are you all building this on a mobile IDE? Because I can't imagine a developer looking at this on their desktop and saying "Ah, yes, I've removed a lot of visual space. This will surely help me."

After upgrading to Firefox 89, I no longer see any of the tabs I have set to display when Firefox starts. Actually, I can't see any tabs at all, and can only open one page at a time. My old version had tabs nicely under the Bookmarks bar which I would love to duplicate in 89. What settings have to be enabled to return the tabs?

I hate the new tabs look in FF89-- they aren't even tabs any more because the borders have been removed. They now look confusingly similar to bookmarks on the bookmakrs toolbar. Please restore the old tabs appearance! And for goodness' sake give us the opition of having the tabs at the bottom of all the bars, as they used to be.

So the new tab bar has been dissolved together into a mush of text, there is no definition between the tabs and the background.

My eyesight isn't great and the new update has made Firefox very difficult to use. Please bring back the tab defining features and the contrast between the tabs and the background. 'Modern' doesn't always mean better!

It would also be nice if you would respect the general Windows settings that make these components visible. Discontinuity between different apps makes it very difficult to navigate the browser.

As the title suggests, sometimes when I launch a site marked for a container, it will open a new tab and show the URL but not load the page. Refreshing doesn't fix it, and I have to copy/paste the URL into a new container tab. This only happens when opening from a shortcut, not from history search or typing the URL. It seems to be happening across all containers I have. I'm using Windows 10 and the latest Firefox. Any help appreciated!

For the 5th time now an update has moved my tabs to the top. And congrats guys, this latest update deleted all my bookmarks and my logins. If this version is to win back "defectors" I really doubt you will. You're getting worse rather than better. So anyway, I have read many solutions on the forums and none have worked. Can someone please send me the code I need to put into userchrome.css that will get my tabs back below the address bar. And if you want to get more users, why not add an option in the menu for tab placement?!? How many browsers require the users to know code for something as simple as that? Or maybe the other browsers don't allow for tabs below. If that's the case I suppose I should be grateful. lol. Thanks either way.

Im someone who has the habbit of having multiple tabs open, and from time to time, do a 'en masse reload' on several of said tabs. however, since the last update the 'new tab' is the topmost option which is incredibly annoying to me. So, how do i get rid of it? or at least change its position?

This has been happening for the last several Firefox updates, and it's an incredibly frustrating issue that makes me not want to ever exit the browser or update it. I'm not sure when or why exactly it started happening, but I believe it was after an update at least 3+ months ago.

For some reason, when the browser opens from having been closed due to restart or update etc, and it restores my prior browsing session - it only ever restores 3 pinned tab as pinned. For some reason, it's always specifically just 3 tabs, and it's usually whatever the first 3 pinned tabs were. I always have at least 10 pinned tabs open due to the nature of my job. The tabs that are no longer pinned are restored in what looks like a random order, mixed in with my other tabs. Also, other tabs that weren't pinned, are restored out of order. This makes it difficult to find a tab and get it back to the order it should be in.

I always just have a single window open. There are many tabs open as I work with a lot of cloud software at the same time.

i have tried starting a whole new session from scratch, even uninstalling and reinstalling the browser. Doesn't seem to help, the issue returns on every launch. This looks like a bug to me, but I didn't find anything on it.

Automatic Update Lost 100+ Tabs Can't Find recovery files

I've followed the advice in all the threads I can find from the last three years about how to handle a situation where you cannot use "restore previous session" in history.

As of approximately 7am this morning my computer was fine, I closed the lid (to let it sleep) while I was at work etc, but found that my laptop had restarted when I went to wake it up tonight around 8pm. It appears as though at 7:47 there was a crash of some sort.

It doesn't look like a "sessionstore.jsonlz4 " was created, and when I try to see previous versions of literally anything in "(c:) > users > [my info] > app data > roaming > Mozilla > Firefox > Profiles" ALL are without one despite the folder properties showing a "created" date that fits with when I created a firefox account two -ish years ago.

Every folder in the second profile (which shows that it was created today) is empty.

Has anyone else heard of an update overwriting all history like this? I had a, frankly, problematic number of tabs open (across three windows, each with a different general theme, ie general stuff in window a, weird hobby in window b, and A Lot of tabs for a personal project that I mostly didn't have bookmarked in window C), and have never had anything remotely like this happen before.

Is this a hopeless cause? What can I do to prevent this from happening again?????

Any advice would be appreciated. The tabs lost in my "personal project research" window represent about six months of weekends worth of effort and I'm so upset about it that I can barely articulate how stupid I feel for having passively allowed this to happen because I was tired last night when I got home from work and ignored the "update" prompt in the top right corner (normally I make sure to save my session and update, but I thought "eh, I'll do it tomorrow when I get home from work").

I recently updated to Firefox 89.0. I like the new look and feel, but ever since updating, I no longer see the little red notification emblem on the tab in Firefox when I have unread messages.

I've attached an image showing the tab in Firefox 89.0 (Left side) and the same Discord session in Firefox 88.0.1 (Right side). In Firefox 88.0.1, the notification emblem shows on the tab, but in FF 89.0, it doesn't.

Does anyone know if this is this a bug or some kind of option that I can change in FF 89.0?

Thanks for any help or advice anyone has to offer!
