On the PC I have Firefox 75.0b5 (32-bits). On the Android-tablet (Samsung Tab S2) I have Firefox 68.6.0. So, both the newest versions. I created the PC-account today, because the Tablet-screen should be repaired and I don't want to leave any personal information there. So before cleaning I wanted to sync the personal data to the PC via the Firefox-account.

I can log in from other hosts on the same network. I can log in from this host to support.mozilla.org. I tried to clear the Firefox cache / browsing data.

Still, trying to enable Firefox Sync always results in an "Unexpected error" message.

UPDATE

I eventually tried to set the MTU setting for my network device and reducing that has solved the issue. This command did it for me:

  1. ifconfig em1 mtu 1456

Sync does not work at all on mobile. Every single name and password I saved On desktop browser I got to that site and no user name and password. Not once ever. Every site I know I have name and pass too I go to on mobile nothing populates and I have to reset password, which is annoying but I do and guess what? I reset my password, enter new password and fire fox now says want to update your password? makes no sense. The user name if stored should always populate but it never does. Another thing that does not work at all with firefox. This browser has literally gone down the tubes over the last couple years and it seems firefox is getting worser and worser which makes no sense because firefox was king of the world at one point and now it seems netscape navigator is better. I refuse to believe this. Screw chrome, screw edge and screw opera, I just want my old working firefox back.

I am trying to sign in and sync my account to my new computer, but firefox is NOT sending the 6-digit verification code to my email from my new computer. I have been trying for hours.

It is not a problem with my email. I logged out of Firefox and back in from my old laptop and it sent the verification code to my email for my laptop within seconds. No problem. But it just won't send it from the desktop. (the code from the laptop doesn't work on the desktop, tried that to)

This is very frustrating and ruining the new computer experience.

I have tried substituting logins.jason and key4.db in mac library from old firefox saved file in my library folder, which used to work. Doesn't now. I am now using Lockwise. I logged in, sync was turned off, I turned it on, and hit sync, on same mac device, it cycles but still no old passwords showing on sites on my Mac. It's like all old profiles have been lost. Help!

I have Firefox on my Macbook Pro and I have downloaded and installed it on my Samsung Galaxy S9+ phone. I have signed in to my Firefox account. I have clicked the sync button everywhere I can find it. It tells me it's synced, but when I look at my phone, none of the desktop info (bookmarks, history etc.) is there, even though the boxes are ticked in preferences. I have looked up the correct name of my laptop, and I have tried it from my phone and from my desktop. I have religiously followed the instructions in your help section and elsewhere on the web. Can someone please walk me through this step by step, or something. Thanks. Richard

Hi, I deleted my sync-account because it was damaged, no device was visible.

It looks satisfying for a layman now with a new account, but now i get a message from firefox on startup every time no matter what i click, that there is an old sync-account, pretty annoying.

How can I remove this message, or complete delete the old sync-account?

Greetings

I have Firefox 75 on my desktop. And Firefox Android 68.7.0 on my Pixel phone. My desktop items sync to my phone with no problem. But my phone will sync everything but my passwords back to my desktop. This started when I upgrade my desktop from Firefox 52 to 75. I also lost all my passwords on desktop when I upgraded.

I do not have a master password.

Am I required to use lockwise with Firefox 75 for passwords to sync back to it?

So I reinstalled Windows and forgot to save/import settings, but my phone still does. Is there anything I can do to move everything from my phone to my laptop? I see nothing on my phone that suggests that I can other than syncing to desktop and my desktop is not restoring, even tho it says 11 bookmarks, it's still default.

Desperate cry for help.

If you are signed into Firefox, and you have multiple devices, like a desktop PC, a laptop, a raspberry pi, and all of them have Firefox-beta and Firefox-developer-edition, deleting history isn't a child's play, it can hours of work!

For example, A month ago, I deleted the older histories from my laptop. If you delete many histories, Firefox will slowly consume all your system's available RAM unless you kill it, ok fine, probably Firefox is written the inefficient way.

Then I turned on my raspberry Pi. And all my hard-work of deleting history got synced with my laptop. Ok I deleted them again.

Then I turned on my Computer... Oh No! Again it got synced... They say patience is the key to success (here success is deleting histories).

Then I realized that I had a tonne of virtual machines, I use them once a month maybe. Executing Firefox on them would sync them again or so. So I had to put myself in a state of meditation to remind my subconscious mind to remember to delete the ~/.mozilla/ directory whenever I open my virtual machines.

I am a mere human, I might not have patience like the Firefox devs, I can't waste months deleting histories, I have other works to do. So I went to the Firefox sign in page, signed in, disconnected all the devices, removed the ~/.mozilla/ directory, then logged in again, synced, deleted histories, and then slowly I singed in to all the devices.

In Firefox, forgiving your past is not that easy. So what do you think is it a child's play to delete your histories?

Hi, I am having an issue with bookmarks and sync.

Steps followed: My mom has Firefox for Android (68.0), and a Windows 10 computer with Firefox (75.0). She had not used the computer in about a month. When opening the computer, I noticed that her desktop bookmarks did not sync with her mobile bookmarks (some folders she had renamed/deleted on her phone still appeared on her desktop). I tried to manually sync on the computer. Nothing. When I checked her mobile I noticed that sync was off on her mobile, so I turned it on. I tried to sync again on her computer, logged off her account on computer, logged in again, tried to sync, then restarted the computer, reopened Firefox, tried to sync but nothing. I connected to her Firefox account on my tablet, and her mobile bookmarks synced perfectly on my tablet. So I uninstalled Firefox on her computer completely (deleting the APPDATA Firefox file) and reinstalled it.

The problem now:

  1. when opening the bookmark menu on the computer, the "mobile bookmarks" folder does not show. I went into "about:config", searched for "mobi", but the option "browser.bookmarks.showMobileBookmarks" does not appear at all.
  2. when searching for a mobile bookmark in the address bar, Firefox finds the bookmark (I see the URL) but it does not show as stared and when I click on it, the blue star does not appear. But there is some kind of sync working apparently, since Firefox recognizes the URLs of sites that are bookmarked on mobile!

I am not sure what the issue is and would appreciate some help. Thanks very much for your time.
