According to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keyboard-shortcuts-perform-firefox-tasks-quickly?redirectslug=Keyboard+shortcuts&redirectlocale=en-US#w_search , changing the default search engine should be Ctrl + ↓. The shortcut key has changed in Firefox 140, but the description page has not been updated.

How do I report the issue of being unable to remove a URL from autocomplete?

When I start typing the URL, it shows up like the following image with a globe icon and "Visit" text, but there is no "..." button to remove the suggestion like there is on other suggestions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/address-bar-autocomplete-firefox#w_url-autocomplete

This is really annoying because a site I visit a lot changed from .com to .org without redirecting the old to the new.

PLEASE HELP! I allowed Avast to do a "clean up" this week. That usually entailed a "scan" for viruses. NOT ANYMORE! My computer is really messed up! I just tried to delete Avast, and even though I hate to see ads, I think their Ad Blocker is messing up my PC. I just noticed that when I asked what I thought was FIREFOX a question, the answers were supplied by an entity called THLIOKNI. WTF is THAT?????? Seriously, what is happening to my relatively NEW PC--had to buy a new CPU in October of 2023. And I've always used Firefox. But WINDOWS 11 is the operating system on this PC, and it is NOT compatible with Firefox apparently! I'm an elderly woman and I cannot handle this stress! What I also noticed is that I read Substack writers and depend on them for accurate description of current political and social news, but now I can't access the "like" buttons on commentators. Is that a Substack issue (I don't think so!), or is it something to do with the Avast "clean up?" WHAT ON EARTH IS THLIOKNI and how the hell did that get on my computer? PLEASE ADVISE ASAP! And I sincerely hope a REAL PERSON reads this! I do not want a million responses from other readers at other times, I want to hear from a REAL PERSON! You have my e-mail address. Catherine O'Kelly

Firefox 139.0.4 changed behavior of text search (find-in-page). It now opens closed accordions and finds text in the <details> text (which it did not do prior to this update). This really breaks my webpage. I think this was changed for compatibility with Chromium.

Is there a config setting to change this behavior? Alternatively, can I change the accordion html so that Firefox will not search the <details>? (These are my private webpages, so I can edit them.)

I have been using FireFox for very many years. I have used the Search Bar to search -- NOT the Address Bar -- for as long as it has been available.

But the Search Bar doesn't work anymore. I enter something and nothing happens. I have tried several different search engines. Google, DuckDuckGo, and Brave. Same results.

I am well-trained to use the Search Bar. It is completely instinctual. It is very jarring to find it not working and then have to try again using the Address Bar. Again and again.

Further, I absolutely HATE it when a Text Input Field is used to do different functions like this depending on what I enter.

Is this by design? I.e. are they getting rid of the Search Bar? Or is it a bug?

If it's not a bug, I don't get it. Why would Mozilla antagonize the few users they have left? Further, why would they waste the few resources they have left to do something like this?

I have used Firefox as browser for years. Yesterday, my default search engine in FF was changed to Bing. The settings in FF clearly show my seach engine is duck duck. I cannot open duck duck, because bing will not go away! I tried chatgpt. It gave me three good suggestions and walked me through it, but no success. the AI says its some sort of embedding in an add on or extension. This is well beyond my computer ability. Can you suggest any way out of this? Bing is simply awful!!

I'm bumping into a strange issue when searching stuff through google.com. if i do a search for anything I get the google recaptcha page to verify that I'm not a robot. This is happening only when i have my bookmarks toolbar set to always show. If I turn it off then google.com lets me search with no issues.

This only seems to happen on google.com. If i use bing.com or another search engine this does not happen. No captcha when searching from those engines.

Also this seems to be a Firefox issue only and i have tried doing searches through google.com using Chrome and Edge.

I have scanned my entire system thoroughly to be sure there was no malware.

Again this only happens when the bookmarks toolbar is always on.

Any help would be great.

Whenever I highlight text on a website and right click a popup appears enabling an automatic search for that highlighted text. But that search sends me to Ecosia's website. A great cause, but I'd prefer to choose my own instead of Mozilla doing so for me.

How do I either: 1. Change that context right click search default search engine (please note not a provider search engine in settings. I mean right click activated searches only).

2. Or remove Ecosia search from it completely.

I do not have any Ecosia extentions installed. I also have gone into config:about and not found where this right click functionality in Firefox is.

Please advise. Thank you

I had Amazon in the search engine along with Google, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, etc.., and was using it frequently. However after some point, at least a month ago, only Amaozn disappeared from the search engine list. Even resetting the search engines to default doesn't bring back Amazon.

I've been waiting for a fix to come but since it hasn't come yet, I'd like to know if there are any way I can restore it.

current environment: - macOS 15.4.1 - Firefox 138.0.1 (I had this issue on v137 too)
