Hi, I recently performed a refresh/reset of my Firefox browser. Normally, this process is supposed to retain my bookmarks and browsing history. However, after the refresh, I found that my bookmarks and history files were not preserved at all. Is there any way to recover them?

Additional context: • I did not use Firefox Sync before the refresh. • There are no local backups of the places.sqlite file or the bookmarkbackups folder. • I am looking for any possible method to restore the lost bookmarks and browsing history.

This morning my firefox would not start up so I use that other one (E) and d/l you 64 bit I reinstall it and I have No bookmarks at all How do I get them back or can I use the other by import and search for the cvs file and the other one call html if so where would they be located at?

1. For a start you might do what you implicitly claim - restore open windows on all screen "spaces".

2. But recognising that you have never done this (& I have used Firefox on Macs for a long time) perhaps you could be honest and warn us both before and after a reboot.

(If there is a power outage or apple reboot, an apple "app" tends to be reopened, not usually on my preferred space. Other apps & processes are mostly not reloaded or restarted (another irritation), Firefox is somewhere in between.

3. I do of course take various measures to avoid time in reinstating "where was I", (so I bookmark all regular tabs on each space that I use for a particular type of activity, eg space 4 is booking regular sport-like venues, with a weather check tab too), but perhaps the whizz kids at mozilla, could think about how to help slow old guys like me recover from unexpected distractions & outages, etc.

I had 16 windows open with around 1400 tabs. I discovered OneTab and it seemed like the answer to my prayers as even 16GB RAM struggling with so many open windows. I managed to close 7 windows and around 700 tabs by using the OneTab list. My whole computer shutdown overnight for a Windows update, and when I re-opened all my Mozilla Firefox tabs popped up as usual. (I have a few crashes here and there and never had a problem restoring tabs with normal Firefox windows.) My single OneTab had the option for 'sessionrestore' but when I clicked it, NOTHING, zero tabs and I am gutted.

1. is there a backup file of what was transferred into OneTab? 2. I have not synced, can I restore my whole Mozilla account to where I was 3 days ago with 16 windows open? 3. There is nothing in recently closed tabs/windows - is the only way to go back through my whole browsing history for the last 6 months and restore that way? 4. I cannot do a full computer system restore as been deleting files and other work - I must find a solution through Mozilla. How can I get back in time?

Anyone able to help or advise? Much appreciated!

My father used my computer and synced all of his firefox “stuff”, i need to get rid of all of it.

I tried to log in, but came across a message that told me it would just merge with his stuff. I would like his bookmarks and passwords gone so that only mine occupy the browser.

Is there a reset?

My Bookmarks are missing. I see backups under the profile/bookmarkbackups folder but when I manage bookmarks, they are not in the restore dropdown. I have followed the steps to delete the places.sqlite but when I reopen firefox, I do not see the bookmarks have been restored. I thought it might have been related to Norton Utilities so I renewed a subscription but no luck. I also have a json file with my bookmarks but I cannot choose it from Manage Bookmarks, either

Fedora froze and I had to reset my PC. Firefox hat quite a number of tabs open wich are still visible in history Recently closed tabs. When I click there on Reopen all tabs nothing happens.

How do I open all recently closed tabs?

After running a CCleaner health check on my computer I have lost all access to my bookmarks and the Fire Fox home page does not display my most visited websites as icons.

I am trying to transfer my "bookmarks" from my old Dell computer to a new H P. If it is possible, this would save me a lot of work because I have a lot of bookmarks on my old dell that I still use. Thank you

Ok so I never made a proper backup with Mozilla/Firefox I just dumped the whole Appdata folder on a HDD as I wasnt fully sure what I needed before a reinstall

Now after my reinstall (Still got old windows working on another HDD) I put back the appdata but I cant get my passwords or bookmarks to appear again. Did I mess up?

I've been unable to open any .json files in Firefox since Monday. Today the Home icon disappeared from my Windows 11 version of 140.0. Is this due to your phased rollout of the tab tray experience? When can I expect to have my functionality restored? Losing my bookmarks is a great inconvenience.

Power outage after using a new Imac for 2 weeks. Now no bookmarks and no History showing in Firefox. I followed all the steps given in SUPPORT 1. Export HTML bookmarks from old computer. Import on new computer. 2. Load Backup bookmarks (JSON file) to flash drive. Load into new computer. 3. Copy latest Bookmarksbackup file found in new computer to Desktop.

'Each of these methods hit the same brick wall'. Firefox Menu > Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks > Library Screen and choose "Restore" or "Import Bookmarks from HTML" THE SCREEN IS BLANK WITH NO CHOICES TO PROCEED FURTHER.

Why don't any of these recovery methods work?

Hello ~ Re. On Macbook Pro, I messed up all sessionstore folders and files.

After a recent Firefox crash (maybe due to repeated bad connections and using a VPV in China), I lost all my previous tabs (more than 100) and I also didn't see the "Restore previous session" in History. 

I was able to find 'previous.jsonlz4' (and other *.jsonlz4) files on my October 11 Time Machine backup. However, after replacing, renaming, deleting various *.jsonlz4 files, Firefox, after reopening it, disregards any changes (deletions or new tabs) i made on the my last session, and return to the October 11 situation. I know i messed things up (see attached screenshot), but how can i clean that mess?
