My address bar keeps turning red, and gets a little icon up in the left hand corner. When i hover over the icon, it says "Browser is under remote control (Reason: DevTools)." I do not know how to turn this off. Does that mean that somebody actually has control of my browser? I cannot figure out how to turn it off, although just by messing around it has turned off twice. Later it comes back on. I have looked at DevTools, and I do not know what to do with it. I looked through settings, expecting to find the answer, but never found anything clearly stated that would help. I have looked at remote browser debugging, but could still not figure out what to do. I would appreciate some help on this, because I have no idea what to do.

macOS 12.3 on Mac mini. Also occurred on macOS 12.2.1. Firefox 98.0.1, also occurred on 98.0.

I set security.OCSP.require to true in about:config a long time ago. Now (started yesterday) https://apple.com yields SEC_ERROR_OCSP_SERVER_ERROR every time I try to load any Apple page. No problem when loading same URLs with Safari on same computer. All other sites load okay in Firefox.

If I set security.OCSP.require to false the Apple pages all load okay in Firefox.

Is the problem Apple's, Firefox's, or cockpit error? Is "security.OCSP.require" overkill and should I leave it turned off?

Thanks a billion for any light you can shed on this, Ron Charlton

As a network engineer, typing IP addresses directly is frequent. Remembering history of typed DNS.tld addresses is also important.

Does anyone know of a way within firefox, or an addon that can remember addresses typed into the address bar per ruleset?

end goal:

if I ever type http(s)://###.###.###.### > never store in history if i type http(s)://a-z.tld > sure, remember it.

alternatively, it can remember IP but never autofill IP. Only autofill dns.tld

Let me say it aloud. I love the multi-container support from Firefox and is really helpful in maintaining privacy.

However, the more I use this feature I see something missing from it (Or maybe already existing feature, but I am not sure). I am not sure if Firefox has a feature, where I can clear cookies only for that container. So, for example, I have a Banking container and once I have completed my Banking transaction, I want to clear the container data. currently, I am using private session for it, but I want to retain banking data for a few days, that forces me to keep the private session open for a few days.

So, not sure if there is a feature in firefox to clear cookies/ pwds only for a specific container and not for all other containers.

I recently re-imaged my computer and reinstalled Firefox and I'm getting an issue where the "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" setting under Privacy & Security keeps getting re-checked after I close and re-open my browser. This is causing issues with logins being saved for me. At first I found this article,

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1350469

but it looks like this doesn't apply to me as I don't have any custom settings for my history. I then tried to follow all the steps in this article,

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-fix-preferences-wont-save

and sadly nothing here worked either. I have even reinstalled Firefox just to be sure and I'm still having no luck. Personally I just ignored it for a while but I've now seen other users have the same issue (I work at an IT desk and I can confirm 2 others that have seen this same issue). Just to confirm I have no browser extensions installed and I have the latest Firefox updates. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm a bit too stubborn to switch over to using Chrome but it looks like I might have to if this keeps happening.

Hi, I clicked on a link inside a Facebook message that I now think was probably a phishing link. It didn't lead to a webpage, just to a blank screen. I know that Firefox has some protections, but I'm wondering if clicking on this link could have caused something that might be able to evade those protections.

Security settings I have in Firefox: "strict" tracking protection, delete cookies when Firefox is closed, show alerts about passwords for breached websites, no autofill, clear history when Firefox closes, block pop-up windows, warn when sites try to install add-ons, block dangerous content, query OCSP responder servers to confirm the current validity of certificates, https mode not enabled.

Could something get through those defenses, just from clicking on the link, and could it survive closing Firefox?

I have seen really mixed messages online and thought I'd come straight to the source. Thank you!

It looks like Firefox on macOS is constantly accessing my microphone or "polling" it. The orange microphone indicator is flashing in random intervals although I haven't granted microphone permissions to any website. There are also no open tabs which actively requested microphone permissions.

I'm not sure if Add-Ons can request mic access but apart from "Access your data for all websites" there are no comparable granted permissions for any Add-Ons. I can provide a list of installed Extensions if needed.

I'm using FF 98.0.1. I have it set to clear cookies and site data when closed. But I added exceptions marked as "allow" so I don't have to log in each time I open those sites. FF is retaining the "allowed" cookies" but I still have to enter login information. How can I get FF to store the login data for the site exceptions but delete all other cookies when I close the browser?

So I have had this problem for 2 weeks now. No issues over the past month working with the clients I am having issues with. I work for a marketing company, we have multiple clients, so I have saved the logins and passwords for the clients whose sites I work with the most. For the past few weeks a couple of my clients but, not all of my saved logins, for LinkedIn and MailChimp, in particular, give me an error message saying that the password isn't correct. I have checked with the clients, none of the passwords have been changed. I can log in to some of my saved clients on both sites, but can't for some reason with these two different clients.

Today I ran into the same issue with Instagram. I got the same "password does not match" error message and tried to log in with the handle rather than the saved email and the same password and it worked. Fine fix in the moment, however if all you use to log into a site is an email and a password, theres no work around for that. And it also doesn't really tell me what the issue is if the pw didn't work for the email but does for the handle (which in this case is exactly the same as the handle but with its @gmail.com)

I have deleted the saved passwords and emails for the problem clients, refreshed Firefox, turned the computer off/on. Nothing seems to work. I am at a loss as to what I need to do, I don't have any plugins on my browser, I use Firefox to save the passwords and the weirdest part is that its only 2 of my clients that are having issues. All of the other accounts I have saved for LinkedIn and MailChimp work fine, and my coworkers can log into my problem client accounts with the same passwords I am using.

What am I missing here, Internet.
