I'm getting mysterious pop-up ads from "firstthings.com" that appear, say, while I'm working on a Word document. How do I stop this?

I've checked my Firefox settings for allowed pop-ups, and "firstthings.com" isn't listed there. I'm used to seeing pop-ups when I'm using the internet, but not when I'm working on something else, like a Word doc. The first time I noticed it (a few weeks ago), I was on a Skype conference call with someone. I hadn't used Skype in about 3 years. I don't know if that's related at all. I haven't clicked the pop-up. I've included a screenshot. This appears in the bottom right of my screen. Thanks!

Who is this that pops up on opening a tab and asks to enter a competition for a £200 Coop voucher http://mobile7530.chooseyourprize15.club/?utm_medium=oxxGrJ1EO

This survey reward is scam as it doesn't give time to complete the form before the offer in withdrawn. Anyway I don't want third parties interupting my browsing.

Just updated to 63.0 earlier today.

I typically run a separate instance of FF (streaming audio) in the background, and may launch a separate instance of FF for browsing on and off.

Upon closing the separate (browsing) instance, I get the tab closing message of "you are about to close 2 windows with 2 tabs...". This is incorrect, as closing the browsing instance does not affect the streaming audio instance I have running.

To confirm, I closed the streaming audio instance, and then closed the browsing instance, the message does not appear. In other words, FF now incorrectly thinks the 2 instances are connected, and closing one will affect the other - it does not.

Did not occur until after the update today.

When I'm using Firefox, on reputable sites, this screen pops up, along with a bunch of beeps. It appears to be from Firefox, but I assume it isn't. Where is coming from? Is is dangerous? How do I get rid of it?

I called Apple support, and they helped me run a scan with MalwareBytes (the scan came up clean), but the problem is still recurring. The Apple support person said to contact Firefox.

In Firefox 65 when I added an exception to the popup blocker then the popup windows were allowed to popup coming from that site, even if the current website in my browser was different: this is typically how bookmark managers work, I click on the add-on icon to bookmark the current website.

In Firefox 66 this behavior has changed, even if the website (where the popup window is coming from) is added to the exception list, the popup window will be blocked. To make it work you also have to add the current webpage in the browser to the exception list, which means you have to turn off completely the popup blocker.

You can check this problem with the Bookmark Ninja add-on: https://www.bookmarkninja.com/installbrowserbuttons

Is it possible to restore the behavior that version 65 had?

Thanks in advance for your help! Jozsef

Hi, a pop up ad, or pop under ad that redirected a page I was on came up, and ever since that firefox has completely died, almost everything has been replaced with windows saying "Blocked by X-Frame-Options Policy" and as a result the browser is now useless.

How do I turn off x-frame policy?
