At random (and believe it has nothing to do with the website, or no evidence) I get garbage text on websites. The button "Guessing correct text encoding from page content," in which I clicked several times and refreshed the page, doesn't fix this issue. Though, when I close down Firefox and rerun it, the issue clears. If that was the only website (tabs) I have up, then I would have no reason to fuss.

The computer/system I have is as follows:

Edition Windows 11 Home Version 23H2 Installed on ‎Sat, ‎8/‎12/‎2023 OS build 22631.4391 Serial number PF44P72H Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1047.0

Device name Brandonslaptop Processor AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics 3.20 GHz Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.9 GB usable)

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display (excuse me for removing the Device and Product IDs)

I am using the Windows 11 Defender as my security and Adguard for Windows (in which should not be of any conflict because this issue happens randomly, and not all the time).

I have a paid digital subscription to the New York Times. Today when I tried to open my account and also to open articles the screen froze. I contacted the NYT and they didn't find any problems on their end. I got Apple Support and they were unable to fix it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox and that didn't work either.

In the past few weeks, the Firefox Browser and using Earthlink Webmail has gotten extremely slow to the point I must go to an alternate browser (Google or Edge) just to completer my task. I have disabled all my extensions but that has had very little affect.

I'm only guessing, but the most recent update (131.0.3) is very likely the problem.

While I hate to give up using Firefox as my primary browser, if the problem is not resolved, I'll be forced to move to another browser.

Any assistance and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Peter Eisenberg

I have recently run into an issue with web page not loading correctly. over the last couple of weeks, after I sign on to my bank's web site, I get a screen with non-functioning buttons(see attached screenshot). I contacted the bank, and their instructions were to clear cookies and cache, close Firefox and re-open the browser, and this should clear up the problem; or, update the browser. my Firefox is the latest version 131.0.3. the issue still existed after performing these steps. I tried using MS Edge and all screens loaded correctly. Firefox is my browser of choice, and I have not had this issue previously. please respond with feedback, so I know how to move forward. thank you.

Win11, FF 131.0.3

Twice with this FF version I have had a tab fail then a black screen that does not permit a swap to another app or a ctl-alt-delete. I need to hit the power button to hot reboot the PC.

I can't screen shot, which would be useless anyway.

I dunno what is causing this or what is being affected.

I prefer using the FireFox browser on YouTube, but several months ago, it began developing a problem. Videos halt and then the rotating circle appears and keeps turning and nothing happens. If I skip past it, it restarts and runs for a few minutes, but then stops again. The machine is W-10, FF ver. 115.6.0esr (64-bit) but it can also be configured to run W-7 and it does it there too. A number of longer, higher quality videos (8kEarth, 8kParadise) don't seem to have the problem and it only does it on YT. All the videos run correctly with Chrome. I've refreshed FF, but it hasn't helped. I also disabled hardware acceleration. Anyone else had a problem with this?

Hi

I've gotten a couple of reports from Firefox users. Users report odd text formatting when typing 1st and 2nd on the body of an email when using Outlook web browser. See attached image.

I tested this on my production machine, and I'm also seeing the odd text formatting.

I've cleared my cache, uninstall/reinstall a fresh Firefox version, I've used a Private browser window, and I am still running into this issue.

I'm using a M1 MacBook Air. Currently on macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 - Firefox version 131.0.3. I have a user who has a M3 MacBook Air on Sonoma 14.5 - Firefox version 126.0.1

Hello Kind Community My wife and I are retired and work on older MacBook Pro's side by side at our project desk. (Mojave and Catalina both work brilliantly)

This week she lost internet connection after zero issues for at least 4 years. My laptop continues to function normally (using it to type this ...Catalina).

NETGEAR router Nighthawk ac1900 c7000v2 has performed flawlessly since 2020, for our preferred ETHERNET hard-wired connections.

USING MACBOOK WHICH LOST CONNECTIVITY Yesterday while struggling for connectivity solutions, we tried using FIREFOX without our normal VPN, expressVPN.

We got lucky when FIREFOX opened a menu box atop the Shortcut landing page that said (see attached): 'You must log in to this network before you can access the internet'.

BRILLIANT !! just exactly where we wanted to go, our router log in page.

WHAT WE FOUND After properly logging into the Netgear router login website (routerlogin.com, or .net) we discovered someone had activated the:

WIRELESS option for remote control by ANYONE. yikes!!!

We unchecked the box, clicked on APPLY, took screenshots, and closed the Netgear router log-in page.

IT WORKED My wife's MacBookPro was able to use the internet normally, full speed, zero issues on Firefox and also with our VPN, for the entire day.

UPDATE NEXT DAY This morning my wife's MacBookPro again can not open internet access. Same issues ....

The Netgear website links to access routerlogin all fail, they just open the same Netgear webpage over and over in a loop. All 4 urls fail (https://routerlogin.com/).

OUR BEST IDEA Can we access the same Firefox pop-up message link again? It is our only route into routerlogin.

Thank you stopping by and reading this HelpBox description. I tried to keep it brief. Be Happy, Be Healthy ... cheers

After updating to 132.0b9 Firefox, now by pressing CTRL+O or CTRL+S for opening or saving some page, the window that opens for choosing folder to open/save, has shown an obvious lag that I immediately noticed. It makes about 2.1 seconds to open from the moment I press the keys. I have timed it some 15 times and it's about 2.1-2.2 seconds every time.

Before(the update) it took around 0.9 to 1 seconds. In an older Firefox I have(for using older addons) it's 0.7-0.8 seconds.

I count the time from the moment I press e.g CTRL+O till the window to choose the folder opens. It's the exact same lag if I choose OPEN or SAVE from the menu from file.

Very strange.

I'm on Windows 10, with Threadripper 2900WX 32 cores, 64 GB RAM and GPU RTX 2080+RTX2060, but system should not be an issue here as the lag started immediately when I updated Firefox and I immediately noticed it because it's more than double the time from before. How can I easily roll back to previous version since I don't think there will be a solution to this strange issue?

I'm currently using the newest version of Firefox for desktop 131.0.3 (64-bit). I want to restore the double click on a blank area in the tab bar to open a new tab. I know there are options to open a new tab, such as the middle mouse button, but I prefer by far the double click of the left mouse button in place of Firefox minimizing and maximizing with a double click. Is there any coding that can be added or changed to add this option? Any assistance would be appreciated and since I'm not a programmer please keep it simple if you can! :D

Desktop Firefox doesn't display Javascript confirm() messages when in Browser Tools > Responsive Design mode. I test for window width to determine if I'm on a mobile device and put up a confirm() if so, like this:

   <script type="text/javascript">
       window.onload = function () {
           // Detect if the screen width is less than or equal to 768px (commonly used for mobile)
           if (window.innerWidth <= 768) {
               // Ask the user if they want to switch to the mobile version
              x = confirm("You're on a mobile device. Switch to mobile-friendly schedule?");
              if (x) {
                   // Redirect to the mobile version if the user chooses to
                   window.location.href = "daybytime.php"; // Replace with your mobile page or PHP script
               } else {
                   // User chose to stay on the desktop version, no action needed
                   // Optionally, you could store this choice using cookies or localStorage
               }
           }
       };
   </script>

In Responsive Design Mode the "You're on a mobile device..." doesn't appear; the dialog appears but is blank. The Cancel and OK buttons function correctly. In regular mode and on other browsers, if I manually shrink the window the dialog appears and the buttons function correctly.

Hi, I am an avid firefox user, and have been for years. i recently noticed that my firefox uses so much memory, even with just 1 tab opened, task manager show >10 processes are running. I followed all of the troubleshooting steps described in mozilla support (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-uses-too-much-memory-or-cpu-resources#w_disable-resource-consuming-extensions-and-themes) and about:processes is still showing Firefox CPU use of >25%.... For example. Firefox is open, with only this tab. the attached screen dump shows 12 firefox processes uses a very large amount of CPU. Please help! I really want to keep on using firefox :)
