When I search for something, regardless of the search engine used the results of the search appear in the "active" tab. Is there a way to configure Firefox to automatically open a new tab and show the search results in that new tab? Yes, I can do it manually by opening a new tab, than doing the search, but it would be much more "user friendly" if this would be automatic. I use an Apple Mac Pro running Mac OSX 10.7

I installed Firefox 7.0.1 on a MacBook Air and an iMac, both running Lion as the OS. The iMac is fine, but every time I start Firefox on the MacBook Air two tabs start up -- one is my home page and the other is the Mozilla Firefox Startup Page. I can't find any Preference to eliminate the Startup Page and it's really annoying to have to always delete it. What am I missing?

Here's the message: The operation can’t be completed because some items had to be skipped. For each item, choose File > Get Info, make sure “Locked” is deselected, and then check the Sharing & Permissions section. When you are sure the items are unlocked and not designated as Read Only or No Access, try again.

I'm using a new Imac and I guess that they're asking to check something (in finder?) but nothing works

I agreed to be a "beta update channel" person a long time ago when I was rarely using Firefox.

Now two things have changed: I am restricted to 5G a month (both up and download). I am switching to Firefox as my default browser.

Someone told me that I need to make sure I disenroll from any apps that relay usage information back to the developers. Because that is one way I can "leak" MB out of my monthly allotment.

Please understand that I am an amateur computer user and this might seem like a ridiculous question.

The bottom line is that I just want the regular version of Firefox, not the beta tester version.

I resent google analytics for placing its script on every page that website builders ask it to. Users place a script like this on their page, which then google does when this request script is present. It always looks similar to this:

<script type="text/javascript"> var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www."); document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.[my spoiler]com/' ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E")); </script>

When you open any page containing this script, it will write google's analytic script at the top of that page, this in turn, collects data about you and your browsing. At the bottom of the page is the second half of this b.s. script. How can I program Firefox to recognize this particular string at onload and jimmy this script so it can't write the script it's meant to?

Microsoft and others also have such gimmicks I'd like to jam. MS puts a 1x1 pixel "img" tag, which isn't meant to be noticed, but Firefox automatically performs a 'get' for it. This phony image is really a reference number that ends up cached.

Even this FireFof Help Page puts a similar script on this page:

<script src="/media/js/webtrends.[my spoiler]js" defer="">

Is anyone else ticked off by this? If so, can you offer help?

Many thanks in advance!

I am using Firefox 8 in a Mac OSX Lion version. Just a few hours ago, I updated Adobe Flash and from that moment, youtube videos won't show up in FF. I get a black screen instead of the video. Doesn't happen in Safari though, where videos are shown perfectly. That's why I assumed it has something to do with FF. Anybody else? Any help? Thanks in advance!

Meebo is a web based IM site that allows you to use AIM, GChat, etc. When I use it with Firefox in Windows, it works perfectly fine. When I use it in OSX, I get odd graphics issues. Individual chat boxes lose their frames, the text gets highlighted or sometimes disappears.

It works perfectly fine in Firefox 8 for Windows in XP, Vista and Win7 while it is glitchy in OSX Lion and Snow Leopard.

It just seems to have happened one day and I have been ignoring but would like to correct it.

I'm finding that FF ver 8.0.1 is automatically preventing web pages from reloading. I get the message "firefox has prevented this web page from reloading automatically" and then there is an "Allow" button. I'd like to turn this feature off. I don't remember having the problem with previous versions. There isn't an "Options" tab under "Tools" any longer so I don't know where to find the right button to stop the action.

I have my Home page set in Preferences to http:www.google.com yet every time Firefox starts up or I open new window, it opens as https instead of http.

I often go to a different web site from there by simply entering the middle of the url, e.g., usatoday. Then I get an error for page not found e.g., https://www.usatoday.com

Only happens in Firefox, not Safari and it only happens with Google as my home page. If I use http://www.apple.com as my Home page, no problem
