This is in regard to the privacy settings under about:preferences#privacy > 'Allow firefox to send technical & interaction data to Mozilla' where I'm willing to opt into just interaction data, but not willing give my technical data, because of the temporary collection of my IP address. Due to this, I have to opt it out completely & unfortunately couldn't contribute to mozilla's data collection stats. If there's anyway to split those separately, would be better.

Thank you, Prince Cooper

Every time I launch Firefox, it attempts to connect to a number of domains automatically; some of which, it strikes me, may not be entirely necessary and should, therefore, not be automatic.

For instance, I have automatic extension/plugin updates off by default, so why does FF try to connect to versioncheck.addons.mozilla.org and/or versioncheck-bg.addons.mozilla.org every time I launch it?

How many of the following do I actually need to give a pass to in my firewall and how many can I safely block?

I appreciate that a couple (e.g. githubusercontent) may be related to specific extensions/plugins, but the majority are from Mozilla/Firefox, so what what is each of them for, specifically?

aus5.mozilla.org ciscobinary.openh264.org content-signature-2.cdn.mozilla.net example.org firefox.settings.services.mozilla.com ipv4only.arpa publicsuffix.org push.services.mozilla.com raw.githubusercontent.com redirector.gvt1.com services.addons.mozilla.org versioncheck.addons.mozilla.org versioncheck-bg.addons.mozilla.org

Thanks.

Hello! Few minutes ago my laptop (Dell Inspiron 5479) crashed. That`s not a FFs fault. But after that all my sessions, bookmarks and (a lot of) tabs disappeared. Btw in search field I see suggestions from old profile, which I also once lost. How can I get access to those tabs? My current device name like tim-dell-FF-nigtly. Phantom device name is tim-manjaro-dell, but I even can`t see it in devices list. (Sorry for my English)

I'm trying to print this page (https://eecaunt.github.io/kanji-sakuin.html), but firefox only prints out the first page, then stops. (Here's a small test version of the same page: https://eecaunt.github.io/kanji-sakuin-small.html)

You can see in the picture that it gets cut off.

Here's the pdf of the picture: https://mega.nz/file/6wwBUIaC#swNET5o7oGArqOuhxLqGhsPKElxznIe2aqvI0TFKO5E

If you see weird overlapping text, then just reload the page. idk why firefox sometimes doesnt finish loading the page…

As an aside: How do I keep the local links (that are in the webpage) in the PDF that Firefox generates?

This has been an ongoing bug with FF; I found search results here that are a decade old! And it's a big bug! Here's why: Unit: Linux Mint 20-C on a Vivobook using FF 80.0.1 (64-bit) 1: about:preferences > Applications > mailto > Firefox 2: about:preferences > Startup > Restore previous session 3: I have no other browser on my laptop (which is where this occurred).

In testing by clicking an email link, it went into that new tab open loop (at a rate of about 2 tabs per second), because what is now obvious, is FF browser cannot be an email client; at least, not as it is, and has been. I tried to launch it in a variety of ways (e.g. private; restart with add-ons disabled), but no matter what, the loop would reopen the browser, and continue the loop. I had to restart my laptop in safe mode just to use it.

So, I uninstalled FF and reinstalled it, launched it, and again it immediately looped uncontrolled. So, I again booted in safe mode, uninstalled FF, deleted all FF associated folders on my laptop, then reinstalled it. Fixed! Wow, that's just about as buggy as a computer can get! As the only browser, this created a serious conundrum. Thankfully I'm on Linux so I could install another browser brand if need be.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-repeatedly-opens-empty-tabs-or-windows

I finally found this page, after the fact, but this issue should not be a problem to begin with: Bug! Filing a bug report has been done multiple times over the last decade, with no resolution, so why do it again? Logic dictates that If this bug cannot be fixed, just eliminate this as a choice in the next version. Using FF (synced) on 4 different devices, I had to check them all and undo that setting! Fair warning to all. And most will not be as determined to stay with FF; they'll uninstall it, quietly, and just use another browser. FYI

When I am using firefox, it often updates without need nor request of my consent, whenever this happens, I become unable to use firefox whatsoever until it is shut down and restarted completely, losing me all my private windows and any un-finalized data entered in my non-private pages. This is unacceptable to me, and I have tried to turn it off in settings, however, under the "firefox updates" heading, it only lists a version number. It seems that it used to have an option to force requests for updates, but it's no longer there. I have also read that others used that option but while it requested consent, it went ahead anyway until told no. It doesn't take a recontextualization into a legal or sexual scenario to see how scummy this behavior is, as it is readily apparent. If this kind of "windows 10" style update is all mozilla can offer me, I will happily switch to ungoogled chromium, however if there is a way to make it so updates can only happen when I click yes on update then I would much prefer to stick with firefox as it has been my favored browser for my entire life. Any help is much appreciated, thank you for your time.

Hello everyone! thank you for your assistance and expertise ahead of time as any help is heavily appreciated.

I've been trying to find a way to disabled downloading in Firefox all together. The reason for this is per my organization's requests. As they do not want users downloading anything what so ever.

I've found extensions that can do this, however since I'm tweaking a profile in which is shared amongst all users. Its not the best solution since I have to manually check the add-ons on every time I make a new user profile.

Is there by any chance a means for me to disable downloading as a whole within either userChrome.css or about:config?

Any help again is greatly appreciated.

When i first start firefox idk what really causes it and can't really reproduce the issue and it's random on all pc's/os's i try by one thing in common is that it happens when i use my synced firefox account

So when it starts and i open a website it "sometimes" just closes immediately and have to reopen that website Also happens from a saved session. It's the wierdest issue i have ever seen as it's random and there isn't a way to really reproduce it to as far as i know.

I am sure it's some setting that is synced with my account as i didn't have the problem before i have had this issue for a few years now i think and it's really annoying and have looked if there was anything similar to this issue and couldn't find anything.

Hello,

I have the current Firefox version (93.0) running on XUbuntu 20.04.03 LTS. Accidentally pasted the URL of a known phishing site (obtained from Phishtank) into the address bar instead of a VirusTotal search box, and it browsed to the site. Verified in https://transparencyreport.google.com/safe-browsing/search?url=https:%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fforms%2Fd%2Fe%2F1FAIpQLSeAhelw8U_QuFyvJDmAn4aYM-H6QXYahD7ZjaFXC6CdyuxaNQ%2Fviewform%3Fusp%3Dsend_form&hl=en that the site is blacklisted.

I thought that Google Safebrowsing is enabled by default? (Checked about:config and saw that the "safebrowsing" settings that are bold are the ones with timestamps e.g. lastupdatetime and nextupdatetime.)
