Most of the times firefox opens as a broken window in GNU/linux. I am using XFCE4 DE with the default XFWM Window Manager. The way to solve this issue is to resize the window.

But I have never seen it happening with any other application on my system. I see new major version release in firefox, but they never address these issues.

I am currently using a css theme that makes firefox look somewhat like safari, so all of the tabs' content (the text and icon) are lined up in the center. However, the close tab button also ends up lining up in the center, and I'm not sure how to fix that, because of the following code:

/* Center all content */ .tab-content { display: flex; justify-content: center; align-items: center; margin-top: -1px; min-width: 100% !important; padding: 0 10px !important; }

the align-items: center makes it so that the close tab button is also in the center. How can I change the position of the close tab button individually?

There should be a way.

A way = An option if enabled, this happens:

The browser starts to remember the state of the tab he/she was in.

For example, if I am learning by watching "How to build a portfolio website?" video on YouTube or some website in FullScreen, then if I switch to next tab pressing "Crtl + Tab", where I can see my portfolio website which I am editing from VS Code realtime. Now if I press "Ctrl + Tab" again, I want to see my YouTube video in same way, it was left before (i.e FullScreen).

Please, for the love of God, give students like us this functionality where students are not annoyed by having to go to fullscreen again and again.

(If you don't understand what I am trying to say then, do watch see this: https://imgur.com/a/yjibtLG )

Remember the state of fullscreen-ness, your highness. It's a painful process to repeat every single time.

Students learn millions of things every single time through the internet these days. The total amount of time that we save by providing this option is just mindblowing.

Let save time. Let make Firefox intelligent. Pass this idea at least.

There should be some sort of option in about:config where the browser starts to remember the state of Fullscreen videos especially when he/she does this by pressing Ctrl + Tab.

There's this site that i want to create script for. It uses VideoJS library, a simple tool to embed a customizable player on website. To communicate with this library, i need to define the player in my script: ``` var player = videojs('player_id'); ``` The problem is that the code in my addon doesn't recognize the `videojs` constructor. Do i have to manually add VideoJS library to my addon, or can i „hijack" library from the website somehow?

Firefox makes connection to 'locprod1-elb-eu-west-1.prod.mozaws.net' on every start of the browser. After trying to figure out if its caused by one of my addons I tried Safe mode and found out addons ware not the reason but after using Safe mode the browser started making connection and to d2nxq2uap88usk.cloudfront.net on every start too. The only info I have found for 'locprod.prod.mozaws.net' is that its related to geo.enabled but mine is set to False and for d2nxq2uap88usk.cloudfront.net the only thing for it is in block list for SpotifyAdBlock. I have already tried everything on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-making-automatic-connections .

Why does make Firefox makes those connections? What is transmitted? And How can I disable them?

Hi,

I have come across this answer as to why youtube page gets randomly updated: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1246764#question-reply

After checking all my settings, I couldn't find any add on or extension containing "high-definition" words in it. My only extention in firefox is ublock origin.

Any idea why the updates continue to take place? Can ublock origin cause it? Or has there been a browser update that could cause it?

Many thanks in advance,

I've installed CentOS 8, but I have a niggle.

I have two Firefox windows open: one on my left screen, one on my right screen.

I have VLC playing video on my left screen.

I would like to use the Firefox window on my right screen without it bringing the Firefox window to the front on my left screen, thus covering VLC.

Both Firefox windows act independently on Windows 10, I would like this behaviour in CentOS. Is there an option for this?

Thank you

After upgrading to firefox 79.0 for 32-bit debian linux (from firefox 78.0.2), I've noticed firefox now goes away when the PC is put to sleep and see this error message in logs (1 msg/tab):

   Exiting due to channel error.

Putting my PC to sleep means withdrawing the default route (so only devices on my local network are accessible) and running a screensaver.

Are there any suggestions for fixing this (minor) annoyance? It never happened with the previous firefox 78.0.2.

thanks!

This one thing makes we simply switch to a different browser. Firefox, downloads and installs updates in the background. OK. It needs a browser restart to be able to setup the update. Not great but OK. But suddenly it would completely disable the user from not using the browser until an update is performed (See Image). But why? Not OK!

I am totally fine with the browser needing a restart to finish update. But why wouldn't Firefox not let me decide when I want that. Until I am ready let me use the browser. I really wish they don't freeze the browser like that.

Is there someone looking to address this issue in a future version? Is this only happening to me?

YOUTUBE: No Home Page & No Initial Comments Section via FireFox: In YouTube via FireFox the YouTube Home Page and Comment Entry on videos is missing. Why is this? Ever since the dawn of FireFox this has always been missing. Please go use Chrome, Chromium, and Brave. You will see when you select a certain YouTube Channel, you will get a Home Page. You do not get this in FireFox. The second issue that has always been is the fact that you cannot comment on videos because the Comment Entry is missing via FireFox.

FireFox needs to correct this problematic issue. I am using Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia. I have also used Windows 10 and the same problem exist there. I want the FireFox Team to use Linux Mint to see what you get from the FireFox Browser in the Software Manager. Question; is this the same Browser that is currently available via the website? If not, then we have a huge problem with the Linux Team and Linux period that needs to be resolved. Both the FireFox Team & the Linux Team needs to work together to get this fixed.

I would provide Screenshots but I want people to actually go and see for themselves. Go get Linux Mint and install FireFox via the Software Manager. Go to YouTube to see what I am talking about.

In the last few days, a process called MainThread, using a lot of CPU time, has started appearing in my Ubuntu system monitor "top". I was worried that it was malware, and checked to see if it might be part of software I had recently installed. After checking with the software providers I had most recently dealt with, I didn't find any that said the MainThread process belonged to them. Then I noticed that the "firefox" process had disappeared from the system monitor. I suspect that MainThread is the new name for firefox, but I would like some confirmation of that theory. If that is the case, why change the name of the process from something recognizable to something unrecognizable? Thanks for any help you can give!

menubar no longer shows in a new window opened with window.open? I am running Firefox Ver. 79.0 (64-bit); Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical - 1.0; on Ubuntu Bionic 18.04 I use the following javascript code in <head> to open a new window: <script> </script> The body is as follows: <body bgcolor="#F2E8DE" onLoad="nameThisWindow()">

Click <a href="javascript:openHomePage()">Open Homepage</a> to open Homepage.htm in a new Window. </body> This code will not display the menubar in the new window (HomePage). The new window opens, resizes, relocates, has scrollbars, has address bar and has the [Open menu] option to the right of the address bar. The way it should except for the menubar on my desktop computer. If I right click on [Open Menu] in the new window it shows a check mark before Menu Bar. If I uncheck it, it closes the menubar in the window that opened it (HomePageCaller). If I click on Customize in HomePage, it opens the customize window in a new Tab in HomePageCaller. If I open a link in HomePage with "Open Link in New Tab" it opens the link in HomePageCaller. If I open a link in HomePage with "Open Link in New Window" it opens the new window with a menubar like it should. I have opened about:config to change all nine of the "dom.disable_window_open" options to "false" and restarted the computer. This did not change anything? I have removed all content from the<head> except the <title> in the new window page. I have removed all content from the <body> except a line that says it is the new window. All to no avail. Thank you for any help someone can provide, Rob

Ok. So Im on Arch Linux. Tried downgrading 78, works correctly. I have firefox dev edition ver 80 and the left channel is about 64x quiter than right. Does any one have similar problem or knows how to fix it? Firefox problem - confirmed (ALSA, pulse with or without jack aren't the problem there) It's not a preference, setting, addon - confirmed. (started browser with brand new browser profile) Isn't update problem - disconfirmed (It did break after update. Downgrading and faking profile(browser version) worked fine.)

any help, or even a way to find what and where it is caused would be helpful. I did look into a shit ton of setting and debug menus, to find that everything is in norm.

(pls ignore these extensions, i will do cleanup soon and they aren't a problem here anyways)

Hi! Since a few months I can't open the opening folder after downloading a file.

Normally, I download a file, then click on the button "open containing folder" on the right of the download file. the default file manager opens up then at the level just above the file downloaded. But, a few months ago, this stopped working: Clicking on "open containing folder" launches the file manager but directly at the level of the file: And this makes the file manager launches the file by the way with the default program.
