I use ccleaner to run regular cleans on my computer. Noticed after running it today that my history wasn't deleted. I tried manual delete to see if it was a ccleaner but and still no deletion. I turned of history sync in my profile, also checked that permanent incognito mode is not turned on.

Last resort I uninstalled and re-installed (twice, once using REVO) yet all of my history is still there.

Any thoughts?

My browser, OS and drivers are fully updated.

I'm having an issue wherein clicking the on-screen back button in the toolbar does not immediately navigate to previous webpage that was viewed. From my recollection and in all my years of computing, I have always understood that the original purpose of a browser's back button was to return to the page, not to reverse any scroll actions. However, someone has changed this.

The problem is that the back button isn't navigating to the previous page, but rather undoes any scroll actions that were performed on the current page being viewed. Once all scrolling is undone, it's back at the the top of page again (default scroll position). Only by clicking the back button one more time will it actually go to the previous page. However, this is not the desired behavior. The desired behavior is that clicking the back button just once should be all that is required to get to the previous page, skipping any scroll actions that were performed on the current page.

I see other articles talking about what happens when you use the scroll wheel and/or mouse buttons. That is not what I am talking about here. I'm only talking about what happens when you click the graphical back button (which looks like a left arrow) on the toolbar. It's the built-in back button in Firefox.

Does anyone know how to restore the button's original functionality?

I've deselected "Clear history when Firefox closes" 3 times already, and it keeps coming back. I don't want my browsing, and especially search and form history to be deleted, I use it every day. How do I stop this option from coming back? Or do I have to abandon my decades-long relationship with Firefox and find another, less annoying browser?

When I close a tab, and try to find it in the recently closed tabs in the history, some i just closed, and without opening even a few others, they do not show up in the recently closed tabs list, while some I closed the day before are in there even when I filter to "Today" and that after" using Firefox for less than an hour and only had.

For one I think Today doesn't do that but rather the last 24 hours or similar.

It actually has been a problem for a very long time.

I can find most of them in the "Show all History", but that defeats the purpose of the recently closed tabs option.

I am using 143.0.4 (64-bit) AKA archlinux - 1.0, on Arch Linux I update every few days.

In my case today it was a Duck Duck Go search results page.

I can't delete history. I know how to do it (ie menu, click "clear recent history" etc etc) but it just doesn't do it. I've uninstalled Firefox and taken the option to "refresh" instead of reinstall. Didn't work. Uninstalled it again. In the reinstallation I asked that it NOT import my settings etc but it did it anyway. Back came Firefox, complete with my history! I just can't get a fresh start. With regret, I'm starting to use a different browser. I dislike doing that but at present I have no choice. Whenever I use Firefox, I just clutter up the place and can't get rid of history.

Bookmarks open in the same tab, as they should. But history choices / sites from the browser history always open in a new tab far away from where I'm at the moment.

How can I set it to open in same tab, as the bookmarks? Open in a new tab next to the current tab would also work.

I recently got a new computer running W11. As always, the first thing I did was download Firefox and set it to my default browser. Then I logged in and synced. Firefox picked up some things - like my passwords, but not a single instance of history, not a single bookmark, or the tiles of frequent websites seen on the new tab page. Thinking something had gone wrong, I uninstalled FF and then reinstalled it. No change. As I was researching what to do when FF syncing fails, I realized that FF is not saving any data in history. NONE. I fiddled around with this situation for about five hours and it showed NO history of websites/pages visited. I went to a few common websites by name, typing www.ebay.com into the search bar (for example) and since that was a website I had now "frequented" I expected it to show up as a tile in the new tab page, but it didn't, even after closing it and opening it several more times to demonstrate (to FF) its frequent-ness.

What could be causing all this? I assume some settings in about:config are off, but can't find any information searching the web. No matter how I state the question, I only get responses like what to do if FF doesn't sync, NOT what to do if FF doesn't collect any history. Honestly, this is a standalone private home computer. It doesn't actually HAVE to sync with work. But it's not very useful to have a browser that collects NO history.

Sorry this is so long, and may I say, any help will be seriously appreciated.

I have a desktop PC with Windows 11 and Firefox 144.0 (64-bit).

In Firefox, when I click the three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner of the page, and click on "History", "Recent History" shows 9 sites.

When I click on "Manage History": "Today" contains 1 name "Yesterday" contains the same name "Last 7 days" contains 9 names

In the search box, when I type about:preferences#privacy and press enter.

Under "History", "Firefox will" shows "Remember history"

Firefox is not deleting search history when using Clear Recent History. The URLs still appear in the Show All History.

In Settings under Privacy and Security, the box is ticked for Delete cookies and site data, and also for Clear history when Firefox closes. I have manually cleared cookies and site data and history within Settings, but the it still remains under History even when I've closed Firefox and restarted the PC.

Under Sync, the box for History is not ticked.

This has been happening for some time without me realising. I have now deleted pages.sqlite and this has cleared the history, but it still retains all new site data under History and will not clear it.

I have disabled then uninstalled anti-virus, I have removed CCleaner because this was also not deleting history.

And I've also reinstalled Firefox, but the problem persists.

What am I doing wrong please?

I am using Windows 11.

I am still running Win 7 Pro with Firefox 115.29.0esr.

In COLORS I have set the Unvisited links to Green and Visited links to Red. USE SYSTEM COLORS and UNDERLINE LINKS are both checked. OVERRIDE COLORS is set to Always.

The problem: The color change to Red for Visited links is no longer retained after closing Firefox. The fact that a link has been visited is lost.

Is this a bug, a setting problem, or is it simply because I've running obsolete versions?

Thank you in advance!
