HI. I'm using Firefox Browser 92.0 (64-bit). This version and previous ones that I have used were set to open pdf in Firefox (Applications, "Choose how Firefox handles the files you download from the web or the applications you use while browsing."). However, when I use a Private Window, the last couple of versions (9x.0 and maybe 89.0, I can't remember now) go to a history loop when I open a pdf and try go back repeatedly. An example. Let's say I visited page A.html, clicked on a link to page B.html and then clicked on a link to C.pdf. When I hit the Back button twice, instead of getting pages B.html and A.html in that order, I get this:

B.html C.pdf

and if I continue to press Back button I get into a loop

B.html C.pdf B.html C.pdf ...

This behaviour does not occur in ordinary window, just in Private Window.

Can you, please, help me? Thanks, Miško

1) As of Sept 9, Windows will not launch firefox.exe, either by clicking on the filename or clicking on a shortcut to it. It says there's no protocol - see attached image. However, if I rename firefox.exe to something different (firefo.exe), it will launch from clicking on the filename and clicking on a shortcut link.

2) In addition, In Windows settings, Firefox is set as default for file types http & https and for browser. Clicking on any http or https file or link ends up with the same result (see attached image).

3) In Firefox settings, Firefox doesn't recognize that it is my default browser. Each time Firefox is launched I receive the message that it isn't, I select to make it, and it remains as if it is not my default browser (see attached image).

Ran admin command scannow /sfc. Errors found and fixed, without resolving the above problems.

Uninstalled Firefox, reinstalled without resolving the above problems.

HOWEVER, if I select Edge as my default browser, Edge allows itself to recognize that is my default browser and will launch any http & https link, as well as open itself when I click on the Edge executable file.

Any ideas how to correct this behavior in Windows 10?

Hi,

Is there a way to sync extension and toolbar customisation? I have decent amount of extensions and sometimes leave the ones that are mostly background services in the overflow menu. Only problem is whenever I sync a new device I have to customise it all over again since the extensions get installed randomly.

Is it not possible to have this not keep happening?

I'm running Linux Ubuntu 20.4

Whenever I try to use a website that has a browse button (e.g. youtube uploader, google drive, etc) I click it but nothing happens, no file browser comes up.

As per previous discussions on this issue, I have tried Safe mode, refresh (in fact total new operating system and re-install of firefox) and disabling hardware acceleration, even turning off popup blocker and none of these have made any difference.

Over the last few days whenever I watch Youtube videos (specifically on Youtube, this happens on no other sites such as Netflix, Disney+, Twitch, etc.) the video will freeze for a good few seconds, but the audio will still play and then the video will jump to wherever it got up to in the time it was frozen.

I'm not really sure how to fix this, I've tried clearing the cache etc. but the issue still persists. I even tried turning off uBlock Origin but that didn't fix it either.

Has anyone ever had a similar issue and found a fix? It's pretty annoying.

When I turn on the Windows 10 desktop computer first thing in the morning, or whenever I turn it on after it's been off, it takes several minutes to connect with Google, Yahoo, Bing. This has been happening for about three weeks. I've deleted History and cleared the cache but it doesn't prevent the same thing from happening. What else should I do?
