Website with silly login form confuses username completion

Hey!

The UK Met Office (UKMO) has a General Aviation (GA) service where they publish weather charts and such: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/services/transport/aviation/regulated/aviation-briefing-service-guidance It's a free service, anyone can create an account.

The login page, however, has a slightly odd way of collecting the username and password: https://logon.metoffice.gov.uk/Login?goto=http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/premium/myservices/

On that page, there are two <form>s, each containing an <input> element, one for the username and one for the password. The login button is just some javascript which fills in a third, hidden form and POSTs it. Once I have logged in and Firefox has offered to save the password for me (I have to tell it my username because the forms confuse this step too), it never manages to complete both forms. It only autocompletes the password.

Is it possible for Firefox to learn how to cope with this form? I suspect convincing UKMO to fix their website is unlikely, and they're probably not the only offender...

Dear Firefox friends, I am using the up-to-date version of Firefox. How can I prevent the search to occur on the URL bar? I want to use the URL bar only for typing the URL addresses but not for search or googling. It is annoying function and if I want to do so I will use Chrome. Thank you for your kind help and advice.

I think this happens routinely. Can the Mozilla people prevent the problem in the first place? How can I tell the angst they cause their users? I see others begging for help with this problem.

Hello there,

So, my issue is that some websites, only on Firefox, are logging me out as soon as I enter my mail + PW.

Those are the right ones for sure, and I tried in Troubleshoot mode to see if the issue persists, and it does.

Hence my request here, did someone encounter the same problem and managed to fix it? If you have any idea about what's worth trying, I'm all ears.

Hi Team,

I have a dynamic web URL like test/something, when i visit the webpage for the first time using http://test/something it will be navigated to the particular domain page as expected. But if i try to visit again the same domain address like test/someotherurl it must be auto suggested and recognized as a web URL (http://test/someotherurl) rather taking me/suggesting for a google search when i click enter. Also it is not shown anywhere. All other browsers and older versions (78) of firefox was showing this. I request you to kindly suggest me a way to fix this.

Attached a screenshot for the scenario. You can see only search with google suggestion is there. previously i visited http://test/someurl from the same browser. So here every time i need to type http in front of a url.

I have had a firefox account for over twenty years, now I cannot get in contact with mozilla AT ALL, all because someone decided I had used the wrong login. I cannot login because YOU do NOT recognise my password. You should leave well alone. When something goes wrong, then **I** will contact you like I am trying to do now. I have just read the blurb on the rigth-hand side of this page. It states "Our Community is here to help Kindness is at the heart of our community. Our volunteers are happy to share their time and Firefox knowledge with you. But, I saw the message that I had to login. But no explanation as to HOW I am to do this when I cannot login to my account?"

The new version 89.0.1 forces Google to search in the address bar. I dont like it. I cant read it. The results are not what I'm looking for. I want to retain old Home and ditto new Tabs with Google and Often-used 'favorites'. I cant disable it for Home or new tabs and I wish to keep my old home screen as it was and tuned to my taste.

Why the change without options to keep?

thanx

On Windowws10, I am at version 89.0. I think that's the version that introduced this problem for me. If I open a new window, it is a duplicate of whatever window I was in before. That is, the new window has all the tabs the other window did. So, File-New Window copies whatever tabs are on the current window I am on. I've never seen this before. How can I make FF return to its normal behavior of giving me a window with nothing but a start window on it? Maybe I should go back several versions because recent changes like this and the negative effect a new release a few months ago had on default screen colors, have made my use of FF harder. Thanks.
