At various points in my usage of Firefox, if my default home page isn't ChillTab, and even sometimes when it is, Firefox will randomly quit and restart with ChillTab as the default. Virtually every single time it has happened I was in the middle of watching a video. What's worse is that Firefox will demand updates so as to change the homepage to Yahoo.

I have added firefox@accounts.com to my gmail verified adresses, so I don't know what's wrong. I went through the same confirmation process on my LG G6 (Android 8.0) and everthing works fine. But when I try (on many occasions) to sign in on Firefox Sync on my laptop (with the same email and login of course), I need to wait for the confirmation email, which never comes.

I keep an archive of profile backups on an external hard drive. The backups are compressed, and I usually include the version of Firefox last used by the (principle) profile in the compressed archive filename (e.g., userinfo-firefox-56.0_date). I also make a semi-regular sync backup of the currently used profile. So far, so good.
My currently synced backup, which has not been compressed and archived, is about a month old. (I did say semi-regular.) I would like to compress and archive it before syncing, but I am no longer sure of the exact version of Firefox it used. I usually run updates when released, and can suppose Firefox 65.x, but what if I would like to be more exact? After running a search of files containing "version" in the main profile, I came across a file named compatibility.ini, which resides in the root directory. The contents are as follows:
[Compatibility] LastVersion=65.0.1_20190211233335/20190211233335 LastOSABI=WINNT_x86_64-msvc LastPlatformDir=C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox LastAppDir=C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser
Is this a reliable way to detect the last version of Firefox used by the profile?

Since the latest version 66.0.3 (64-bit) I get messages similar to the following. Often there is no specific error code.
Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to secure.tesco.com. SSL peer reports incorrect Message Authentication Code. Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_MAC_ALERT
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Ironically the html source shows the page is there and complete. Under 'Preferences->Privacy & Security I have unchecked 'Block dangerous and deceptive content" to no effect.
All is fine under Safari. This is a critical issue as I am having to abandon my much preferred Firefox for Safari, which does not have issues.

My UserAgent string is wrong. It has the wrong OS and the wrong Firefox version. I ran into the article explaining how to reset it, but when I search for "useragent", I don't see any of the suggested preferences (see also screenshots).
It might be relevant that I had the UAControl extension installed, until it got automatically disabled due to the switch to WebExtensions. That might have had the "wrong" user agent selected when it was disabled. But I still can't find where it was set or how to reset it.

Is there anyway to see just what firefox is downloading and where its putting it?

This dirty trick required to move a single bookmark folder from one Firefox profile to another stopped working for me for some reason. I tried different firefox versions, including the one from portableapps.com, I tried starting the second instance with -no-remote switch. Nothing worked. When I tried drag&drop between the instances there was the blue feedback dash indicating the place where the folder was going to be dropped in the target Library window. But nothing happened. I tried holding Ctrl as well, also using Ctrl+C - Ctrl+V key combinations.
Is this a known issue? Has a recent version of Firefox removed this ability?

I hate that I have to ask this.... I have been trying to import my username/passwords from Chrome to Firefox for weeks. I'm using the Firefox built in Import tool. It just simply doesn't work. A couple of weeks ago it did actually import 1 site/username/password. Then today I was able to get 1 more. Both of these were sites that I used Chrome to sign into recently, like it cached them or something and thus were able to be imported into Firefox. But all the others that are saved in Chrome will not come over. I just don't get it. There is really nothing to it, so I know I'm doing it right. Options>>Privacy & Security>>Saved Logins>>Import>>>Select Chrome as browser to import from>>(Deselect cookies, browsing history, bookmarks) Saved Passwords selected>>Next>>Finished. Nothing.
Maybe I should uninstall Firefox and reinstall it and see I can do it from a fresh install. I don't know. Very frustrating.
Version 66.0.3 64 bit.
Thanks

Hello, On Facebook website I can't see the comments under any publication, when I click on Comments nothing happens, and if I open the post in a new page there's still no comments. When I click on the notification icon the turning wheel turns without anything appearing, and if I click on View All, in the new page the notifications appear for less than a second, leaving me with a blank page.
I tried opening Firefox without any extension but the problem is still present. In fact the only way for everything to work is to open a Private Window, where after logging in Facebook I can see all comments and notifications.

In the Network tab, in the normal windows there's only 101 https://edge-chat.facebook.com/chat?region=lla, and in the private windows there are also several 200 https://3-edge-chat.facebook.com (or 0-edge or any number depending on the page opened).
So if someone understands what that means and how to fix it that would be great.

I've been having issues with Firefox on Ubuntu 18.10 for a while now. For whatever reason, whenever I try to access maps.google.com it states that the website is unavailable, whereas that maps.google.ca redirects to ww1.google.ca which, in turn, redirects to mediadiscovery.net - which is a website blocked by my router's adblocker. When I use Chromium or Vivaldi, I don't have that same issue, the website is completely accessible; also, if I instead use www.google.com/maps then I actually reach Google Maps from Firefox. I've already tried clearing cookies and cache, as well as restarting Firefox fresh. I only have one extension enabled (GNOME Shell Integration) and 3 plugins (OpenH264, Widevine and Shockwave Flash).
Any help is much appreciated. Also, I got the troubleshooting information while running in Safe Mode, which had no impact on the behavior I previously described.
