Hi, my name is Ryan, and I need help.
several days ago, my lil brother used this computer for browsing and I don't know he downloaded what and from where. suddenly after he left my house, I got my firefox homepage changed to "9o0gle.com", some pop-ups ads and some unusual program installed to this computer. I uninstall all of them. I knew it was malware, or adware or spyware or anything else. so I decided to scan the whole computer at once. I found at least 445 malware and other viruses and all of those removed from my computer, but still "9o0gle.com" wont disappear. I tried to look at the homepage, but nothing written in it. I tried to look after the shortcut, and delete "9o0gle.com" in the "Target" bar with this text ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"), I removed everything after that address but still got "9o0gle.com" after two or three times I used. I tried to backup my bookmarks and reinstall the firefox, removing all the firefox data from my computer but still have the same problem until I write this message to firefox support.
indeed, I tried everything I found on the internet to remove this annoying "index" bar, also removing several unusual script of ip addresses in "hosts" file, deleting some suspicious registry strings, etc.
would you please help me this time?
PS. I also have the screen capt attached to this message.

I would like to know about changing some security settings in about:config.
Right now in about:config the line [security.OCSP.require;false], and line[services.sync.prefs.sync.security.OCSP.require;false] are set to false.
Would I have better browser security if these two line were set to 'true'?
Are there other security changes I could make in about:config that would result in better security.

Hi there,
I created a synch account long time ago and could use it without problems. Since two weeks or so I can't log in to my account anymore. I have the screen: "to continue please log-in" (in German) and after typing the password I am in an endless process "in progress"! There is something wrong ;-)

With the new version 50.1.0 Alt key doesn't stop propagation / prevent default, and ALT was captured by the browser MENU. In others words I don't get KEYUP event, just key down, and with ALTGr it seems the same behaviour, but MENU doesn't get focus, just get ALT keydown, CTRL keydown, CTRL keyup, (missing ALT Keyup).
With the previous version 48.0.2 (before update) was working perfect, all events are triggered.

Hi,
I have a spr532 card reader with a test smartcard with Firefox 50.1.0 on Ubuntu 16.04 up to date. I want to use the client certificate from the device to log in on a website that I am developing.
I also have a test certificate that I generated and it is not on the card. I can log in with the test certificate that I have but not with the one on the card. The problem is that in the "User identification request" page I cannot see the certificate from the smartcard. I can see my generated certificate but not the one on the smartcard. Firefox asks me for the pins for the smartcard (I have two certs on the card and they both have PINs). Firefox sees my certs from the smartcard in about:preferences#advanced > View Certificates > Your Certificates column. I have both the certs on the smartcard and the one I generated in that table. But when I try to log in, Firefox only shows me my generated cert and not the one from the smartcard.
What can I do? How can I debug this? This is a dev environment. I can change any configs on the server so I can decrypt the TLS session and see what is going on between my server and the browser.
PS: I tried to send this message with 2 other email accounts but I do not get the confirmation email.
Thank you!

Earlier tonight I set up a Firefox account (I've been a loyal user of the browser 10+ years), and everything worked fine. When I tried to log in to Sync it produced the above result. After waiting well over an hour for it to actually log in, I decided to delete the account and create it directly from the Sync page, but the same result occurred.

Just installed firefox on my tyan s7025 server/gamer and I can no longer sync or sign in to manage my account on any of my machines. I have 2 laptops, a desktop, and 4 servers. Is there a limit on how many devices I can have with this account? When I try to sign in, the page just says "working" and never logs in, just continues to say "working" for as long as I leave it. Up to 30 hrs before I get aggravated and just close it. Help?

I completely removed Firefox and deleted all folders. After installing Firefox fresh, Firefox sees that it was previously installed?? "Looks like you've reinstalled Firefox. Want us to clean it up for a fresh, like-new experience?"
I uninstalled Firefox (supposedly) "completely" using the guide here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/uninstall-firefox-from-your-computer
Why does the new install Firefox recognize that it was previously installed? Uninstall tool needs to uninstall Firefox COMPLETELY. Since it lies, can someone help tell me what is the appropriate steps for COMPLETE removal?

Today i have decided to start using Sync again, after not using it for quite a while (i don't know how long exactly, over a year). I had, since then, updated several passwords and saved these with the Firefox password manager.
Now after logging into Sync, the passwords that the password manager filled in were not the ones i had updated, but the ones that were still saved in Sync. Checking the saved passwords showed that the PW-manager indeed only had the old passwords i had stored online with Sync. Logging out of Sync did not switch back to the local passwords. I have no backups of logins.json/key3.db.
Is there any way to recover the local passwords? Does Sync simply update and overwrite the local files, or does it do something else, that can be undone?
If there is no resolution for this issue, it might be a good idea for the future that Sync compares the dates of passwords for specific logins, and only keeps the newer ones (or asks which ones to keep).

Probably after upgrading FF to 55 (64bit) on Windows 7, all pull-down items get disabled a while after FF is started.
The affected items include not only the web page pull-down menus but also FF's own menu bar items, tab browser (the tiny downward triangle far right to the tabs), "Open menu" button (the three thick horizontal bars rightmost in the tool bar), etc., almost everything. Some web page pull-down items still work, but they are probably in different CSS/JS/HTML coding. The menu bar shortcuts (e.g. alt-T for Tools) become unresponsive, too.
Everything works fine right after FF is started, but, a while after, varying from a few minutes to a few hours, all FF windows start suffering this symptom simultaneously. Restarting FF resumes the good, but the symptom returns a while after. Starting FF in Safe Mode makes no difference; neither does restarting OS. User activity on FF (e.g. typing and clicking into FF) does not seem to affect the symptom; leaving FF untouched at all for a while after starting FF also leads to the symptom. No other applications running concurrently on the same PC suffer this.
55 (64bit) on Windows 10 works fine.

I am experiencing a weird issue almost every time I open a new tab in Firefox (and very often after opening new sites or switching tabs). There are small black rectangles visible all over the site, mostly under text fields. Suggestions under address bar are also affected. The issue occurs on two separate computers I own (Lenovo Ideapad 700 laptops) both under Win7 and Win10. Usually the artefacts disappear after scrolling or selecting anything on the website. Graphic drivers have been updated in the meantime, it did not resolve the issue. Has anybody experienced similar issues? Any way to fix this?

I am running Firefox 50.0.2 on Lubuntu 16.10 (32bit)
The DRM feature with Widevine does not appear to be working.
What I really want is to watch Amazon Video; however, not even the demo videos found on http://demo.castlabs.com/ work. The one without DRM does play, the others do not. It does appear to recognize widevine [DRM: com.widevine.alpha (via Common Encryption)], but the circle just spins and spins.
On Amazon, the circle spins up, then it goes to a "Video unavailable" window. One time I tried it and it played for a second or two and then went to the error window, but usually, it goes straight there.
This is supposed to be working in Firefox 49 and later, right? What's wrong with mine?
Thanks for your help.
