I downloaded the firefox upgrade last week. This week, I am unable to go to my email account using firefox browser (I can using Safari) from my comcast.net homepage. On same computer, using her own account, my wife is able to retrieve her email from her homepage. Makes no sense. Never had this problem in the page.

I have a page with input elements and a span element styled as a button. I register change event handlers on the input elements, to do validation when the input values are changed. If the inputs are invalid, I add content to a div on the page to indicate the problem. I also register a click event handler on the span styled as a button.

When I edit an input then immediately click on the span (i.e. without focus leaving the input element before clicking on the span) I see:

1) mousedown on span 2) change on input 3) mouseup on input

This occurs only when I modify the DOM in the change event handler on the input. If I don't modify the DOM then I see:

1) mousedown on span 2) change on input 3) mouseup on span 4) click on span

In the first case, I see the mouseup associated with the input element rather than the span element, even though it has the same coordinates as the mousedown which is associated with the span element. Given the coordinates are within the bounds of the span element and outside the bounds of the input element, I don't understand why the mouseup is associated with the input element rather than the span element.

There is an example of this at http://jsfiddle.net/4zx8rm7c/.

I see this behaviour in Firefox 34.0.5 and Chrome 39.0.2171.95 m.

If the association of the mouseup event with the input element, despite the seemingly unrelated coordinates of the mouse event, is intended behaviour, I need to understand why this is. I have looked at COM Level-2 event specifications (briefly) and I don't see an obvious explanation.

I am afraid that my technical knowledge is limited so at some point when downloading iPlayer it asked a question about file association which stumped me. After pondering for some time I decided to associate it with Firefox, this was a mistake. It resulted in when I tried to download a TV programme from iPlayer it literally opened several tabs a second. I un-installed iPlayer and downloaded it again and it never this time asked any question about file association. It downloaded correctly, but it still displayed the fault in question, the ever multiplying tabs.

Firefox is my default browser and I am running the computer on Windows 8.1 64 byte. For purposes of downloading I use IDM.

I would be most grateful for your help in this matter.

Regards,

John Daniels

I asked this last week but maybe I didn't explain properly. When I open Firefox on my desktop, the webpage itself does not appear, only the shortcut in the taskbar. If I click that, it looks like the page opens in a smaller version and then flies off to the right. I have no way of reaching menu items that were recommended to fix this because I have no access to the page, thus no menu.

Also, now that I've been fiddling with some other suggestions, I can no open any of my files. Again, if I click on the shortcut, the page appears to fly off the screen and now I have no access to anything.

I thought of reinstalling Firefox -- is this a possible solution? If I do reinstall, will I lose my bookmarks, or would I still be able to access them from "Favorites"? I'm doing research and my bookmarks are extensive.
