Installed/upgraded Firefox v27 to v28beta to try out the Windows 8 Touch version on my Surface Pro 2. Relaunched via menu link in desktop version. Opened up in Metro on my home page Google, but no menu bar anywhere. Closed and reopened using Metro icon. Opens to the start? screen showing history links tiles and other things, but still no menu bar. None of the links show work. Forced to restart in desktop mode.

First, right up front -- I have no problem, I have no question.

I simply cannot find a more straightforward way to post a huge Thank You, Well Done, to all the folks responsible for the great Firefox product.

I have been a happy user for a very long time, but over the last couple of weeks of constant badgering from Microsoft about my continued use of Windows XP, I finally had to spend $130 to get a copy of Windows 7 in order to try to configure dual boot on my circa 2008 mobo/workstation.

I am sure that many of you know and understand just how much customization one puts into his hardware/OS/App combinations. The man-months of configuring everything to maximize your productivity is huge, which is why we try to defer changes until absolutely necessary. While I don't feel it absolutely necessary to abandon XP3, I do confess that I need to upgrade some of my apps to 64-bit versions, so I reluctantly started to see how hard the migration tasks would be.

So let me cut to the chase, as between Outlook Express and anything else, perhaps vi, or some other favored text editor, there is no single piece of software that is more tuned, and retains more understanding of my computing needs than my browser. When I got to the point of getting IE upgraded from 8 to 11, Microsoft was probably happy, but I could care less, so useless has IE been for so long. When I downloaded Chrome, it was no surprise that the differences between my old copy and my new one, were not dramatic -- that's because Chrome has always just been there as my backup, not my primary tool.

So, when I had to deal with a new, virgin copy of Firefox, my heart almost stopped beating. What was all that stuff on my pristine screen? Well, all that stuff is what turns most of the world off of the Internet -- most of all that stuff has not bothered me for a long time because I have a suite of add--ons and setup settings that give me a clean, efficient environment. When, where, and which settings and add-ons defined MyFireFox? It would take me a couple of hours to try to decipher/reconstruct those matters.

Then I recalled that I had a Profile sitting around somewhere. What if I just grabbed that Windows XP3 Profile and copied it over to where Windows 7 Pro would be looking for it? Slam-bam-thank-you-mam, in an instant Firefox on my new boot system gave me all the old, reliable behaviors, links, etc. upon which I depend. I am in day four of trying to get my other drop-dead tools migrated, but my browser just works.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I've been having trouble for nearly a year with this issue. No one seems capable of fixing the problem, or even admitting there is a problem. All I ever get is condescension when I ask for help, or I'm locked out of my account and ignored. I keep upgrading firefox, hoping the newest one with have addressed the issue, but no, of course not. The last firefox that actually worked with twitter was 15, all successive ones make things worse.

I'm not expecting any help this time either, I just wanted everyone to know that you have a lousy product with no customer support.

Thanks for months of frustration and agony.

Idiots.

This is a reply to jscher2000 who was helping and asked for a link and the content I was missing.

Above is a link to an editorial on the ozone site where after you click on "columns and features" you have a list of articles. At the end of each article people write in their comments and feedback similar to a blog.

At the end of the above article when you open the link I cannot view any of the usual comments or feedback from other fans like I used to. I do remember that I think people had to "sign in thru Yahoo or Facebook" to post their comments. I'm not concerned about signing in. I just want to be able to view peoples' remarks and comments.

I only recently have not been able to view and this apparently happened when I did something (can't even remember) to rid myself of the constant ads on the sides of the page. It says advertisements but whatever I did, there are none anymore, which as far as I'm concerned is a good thing, but I DO want to be able to see the blog or reader comments and remarks that are sent in.

Appreciate any help.

I have been using Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird for several years. However, if this recent situation with your ex-CEO indicates an absence of tolerance for non-Gays, it is probably best to find another set of Internet tools. I would feel lousy if -- at some time in the future -- Mozilla began purging its users, looking for non-Gays and doing to them what has just been done to Mr. Eich. My goal is to get along with everyone. I choose not to do business with the Gay Gestapo. Their lack of respect for others' beliefs is not an issue I want hanging over my head. A ticking time bomb, waiting to explode. This is business behavior unacceptable to me. Respect me -- respect my right to be who I choose to be. These are the same rights every Gay must extend to me.

because of Mozilla's actions this week of releasing the CEO because he had an opinion about social issues I am going to remove Firefox as my browser. How do I communicate that to Mozilla? About 6 months ago I switched over from Google because of their privacy policies and the pushing of their agendas. And now Mozilla is in the same boat. Maybe there's a company that just wants to provide a service without pushing their social dogma .
