Hello! Long time Firefox user here, grew up with a father working in IT security. He's mentioned this a few times before, but now we've both really noticed the push towards using generative AI in roles in IT where it's really unsuitable, and honestly quite a risk to security and privacy, not to mention quite a waste of time having to fact check things properly because I cannot even be sure that the first result in a Google search for "how far away is the moon" will be correct. We're quite concerned that Firefox is following suit, especially with the new CEO evidently not understanding some of the fundamentals of why this browser has such a dedicated user base. Just wondering if saving the money by not having to hire competent, trained professionals who can provide the human touch needed to run a browser is truly worth eroding Firefox's reputation of being the genuinely good alternative to Chrome? How long before the AI stops being optional? How much of the code is going to end up written by some language learning algorithm and passed off as safe? If this push is to continue, what alternatives does anyone in the community suggest? Thank you for any responses from both myself and my father :-)

For a long time I have been using Firefox, because of its performance and customizability. I detest that modern companies have to shove AI into any program even where it is uterly useless. I already don't like the current AI that Firefox has already added. Firefox has alreay lost a lot of my trust in recent years. Should Firefox continue with adding more AI features, I will be switching to a better browser.

I've been using Firefox for 20 years. I love it for the accessibility, the ability to control what I want and how I use it without a bunch of shady corporations peering over my shoulder. But if this new CEO decides to force AI into it, just like every other business and browser out there, I'm done. I'm going to move on to Librewolf or something similar. I am so sick of everyone and their mother deciding we all need generative AI in our lives, forcing it down our throats even when a person takes a clear stance that they have no interest in it. I'm not interested in it. I want to do my own writing, and my own searching, and make my own decisions, thank you very much. Adding in a bunch of AI crap now means Firefox will no longer stand out from the rest of the big-name browsers. You'll be just like everyone else.

I hopped onto firefox the same way many others did- looking for a browser that didn't have the ties to privacy issues or baggage of bloatware, and especially since all of the other browsers are changing things to focus on AI. And now that firefox is joining that chain I wonder why I even bother trying to get attached.

Like, on the one hand I can somewhat see where the CEO is coming from, everyone's getting a cool new toy and you want in on that, that's understandable. But with something as half-baked, destructive, and actively contentious as AI, I wonder the true value of playing with things like that.

In fact, have you SEEN what's going on with AI? Microsoft's shoved Copilot into every aspect of windows 11, their PCs, their browser, their marketing, and what did they get? Regret! They regretted that decision as consumers aren't happy with that decision!

Even OpenAI, the granddaddy of all LLM stuff around, they're not even going to be profitable until 2030. Yes, that's 4 years away. No, I sincerely HOPE they don't last that long.

Why Mozilla is picking this decision? FOMO, I presume, but like. It doesn't have to be this way, it's allowed to be a small bastion where people can actually pick what I want out of it. I dislike the fact Perplexity got added to my search functions, but I'm happy that I could turn it off.

For the love of god Montresor, don't lock us in here.

I am seriously concerned about the upcoming use of AI in Mozilla Firefox. The only reason I use Firefox is because it is one of the few remaining widely compatible browsers that allow me to switch off any AI features. Generative AI is needlessly wasteful and absolutely pointless. Is there any way to prevent this from being forcibly added to Firefox?

I just bought a new PC, part by part, and used my storage devices from my old PC. I formatted the windows drive and am on a fresh installation of windows 11. I tried to log in to my mozilla account, but couldn't remember my password so I used the "Forgot password" function. When I logged in, no bookmarks or history was saved. Is it possible to restore my synced data?

Hello, I choose to use Firefox because it does not have the amount of bloat and spyware that exist with other browsers. I fear that the recent call to add AI to the browser's functions will both slow the processing time down as well as increase the amount of spyware involved. I cannot see how this is a positive for the future of Firefox. All I can say definitively at this point is that should AI functions be added in I will be finding a way to never use them, even if it means kneecapping things for other functionality in the process. I will also be keeping an eye out for extensions or addons that remove the AI, as I have already with other AI online.

Hi Mozilla I hav got a problem with Firefox on Kubuntu 24.04.3. Everytime the computer is restarted Firefox crashes the first time it's started. That's not a big problem, starting Firefox again don't take long. But the problems is exceeding. If i start Firefox by clicking a link in a mail in Thunderbird. And Firefox has not yet been started, It crashes, but now it's also invaliding the Task bar on the screen where Firefox was started. Invaliding means that I cannot start apps from that screens taskbar, and the clock has stalled, none of the tools works etc. The only possibility solution I have been able to figure out, is restart (It's like going back to Win 98). Sometimes I am able to start a app from that invalid taskbar. But it's not the one app that i clicked on. Even though I can trigger it via Thunderbird, the invaliding of the taskbar will occur after a while. And I have to restart. I am not sure if this is the right place to post. But Firefox is always involved, but maybe Thunderbird or Ubuntu was the right place? Every time Firefox crashes there is send a crash report to Mozilla, but is has been going on for a while, so i guess that nobody is looking at the crash report. If I use Chromium instead of Firefox I don't see the problem.

Is there a way to adjust the highlight color/intensity? Please let me know. If there is no adjustment possible, please take care of this in your next version. Thanks, John

Danke Olaf
