using thin clients to RDP to a server running Firefox (Windows) The thin client sessions need to update a file (document, PDF, spreadsheet, etc.) Need to be able to open a document (not download it), modify it and save it back to the server. Have tried under Applications changing what application is used to open it and also used Always Ask. Firefox still downloads the document and, therefore any changes are made to the copy the thin client's Downloads folder instead of the original on the server. We have multiple thin clients at the locations in question and users accessing the documents on the shared server need to see the most recent version. Currently I can make changes to a document and save it, go back to the server and open the same file and the changes I just made are not there. They are on the copy in my downloads file. Short version. I need to be able to use thin clients (running Windows) that are connecting to a server (Running Windows) to be able to open say a PDF file without it being copied to the Downloads folder on the thin client. Edit the file (if needed) and when that modified file is saved, the changes go the the original file on the server and not the copy in the thin client's downloads folder. Using the same hardware and IE there is no problem with downloads happening and so any updates made are on the server file.

The spacebar does not produce a space between words, when typing text. I'm using an iMac on macOS Monterey (V 12.6), and a Mac keyboard. It also causes the window I'm writing in to expand and contract in size. This happens when typing emails also. What do you recommend?

Graphical Glitches and video freezing - Firefox 102.3.0esr-1~deb10u2 (Debian 10)

Every time I login to my desktop it tries to restore Firefox and in turn Firefox tries to restore it's session, however all I get is a mess of graphical glitches, the interface doesn't even load, I get a window border and usually a copy of the KDE splash screen. I then have to kill the process, which of course means it looses my session so when I re-open it I get nothing, all my open tabs are gone and there is no restore session option.

Further, it can't even play streaming videos properly anymore. After one or two episodes of a TV show its lagging sometimes by minutes, eaten gigs of ram and the video often gets stuck, the audio helpfully carries on with a frame of video from about 5 minutes ago. This is not an exaggeration, I had a YouTube video where it changed to a graph with a voice over, after 5 minutes I started to notice the voice over was talking about things not on that graph and sure enough the video had frozen. Its an i9 10850K with 32GB of RAM. The previous version of Firefox didn't mind restoring a session with over 350 tabs and plenty were videos, this one can't handle 2 when one is a video without freezing or locking up the whole browser.

No other apps/ programs on this PC are having any issues, it is only happening in Firefox, I can for example open a media player and play a video just fine while the video is stuck in the browser or it has the graphic glitches. I also tried opening another instance of Firefox while it had the graphical issue, the new instance started and created a new entry on the task bar, but switching to it gave the same display as the broken one, I can't tell you what tabs either had open as nothing inside the window was rendered at all, not even the menu bar which I set to always being visible.

My marking function is out of order in the web. I can mark texts in Word and other programmes, but not online. E.g. mark a websiteaddress to copy it or mark text. I use a graphic pad as a mouse, but that works fine. Otherwise I couldn't mark on other programmes. The problem is only online on websites. I also can't move Google Maps anymore. Thanks for your advise.

As the subject. For two weeks or more, we have had trouble downloading PDF files instead of opening them. My environment opens a lot of documents in FF every day. The "Ask to download or open files" option is enabled, the pdf files in the list are set to always open in FF. We are not making any changes to the settings. We have over 100 stations with almost the default firefox settings and one day something just changed. Restoring the opening of pdf files in FF is important to us, because downloading them slows down our work.

I have a SonicWall firewall on our office network. I can log into it from an office workstation, but when I try to export/save its Configuration I get the "Secure Connection Failed" message. I've searched for a solution to this but have only turned up two:

1) Disabling SSL Scanning Feature in Your Antivirus Software.

2) By Changing the SSL Settings On Firefox

Neither of these are desirable. For option 1, this computer is using Windows Defender, and disabling SSL scanning is not a feature that I know of. In either case, these solutions are across-the-board and would affect all pages I go to whereas the only one I'd like to get to is this SonicWall device located on our internal LAN.

I recall that Firefox used to allow you to make an exception on a per-site basis. Is this no longer possible? Is there any other way to accomplish this without disabling SSL validation for all sites?

I run several versions of Firefox concurrently and recent added 102.3.0 ESR with no issues.

Backed Up bookmarks from a previous stable version to a .json file and imported to v102.3.0#

All the favicons were missing, replaced with a globe.

Visited a dozen sites to see if reloaded them but only 1 loaded icon. These are my own https sites with similar coding an NO code to hide icons - included google. No change.

Read all the posts I could. Verified databases, checked about:config BUT nothing changed, all bookmarks just show the globe icon. Even re-installed that version of Firefox, but same result. Started Firefox with an older profile from earlier version, for a rebuild. Same again.

Is this a bad feature of 102.3.0, an error or something else? Run 78.15ESR with same bookmarks and all are correct.

Any clues above all those published which do not work

John R - UK

p.s. anyone found a work around for THIS version to get green padlock back?

Hi folks,

Forced to update (expected) and 102 ran like two flat tires and no spare whil eI had no issues with 91. MANY hours of searching got me reasonably successful in acceptable performance. But two problems, one which could easily be a bug:

1. I can find no way including in about:config to enable lazy tab loading. In other words, open a group but not load each tab until it is clicked on.

Where did that go?

2. This one is more unique. I have a desktop install of ESR and a portable ESR install on a thumb drive. For MANY years I backed up bookmarks on my desktop and restored them to FF on my thumb drive. Now, after I shut down the portable (which takes a very long time) there are multiple bookmarks. Html files that seem to merge on shutdown. Problem is, on the thumb drive this is not completed before FF shutdown and the processes closed. Results in damaged bookmark files and a crash EVERY time.

IF I drag the copy of FF ESR portable to my desktop and perform the same procedure, no problems. So somehow on a USB 3 thumb drive the process of merging bookmarks. Html files is too slow and will cause a crash consistently.

Any suggestions or should I file a bug report?

Using firefox version 102.3.0esr (64-bit) on openSUSE Leap. Since a couple of weeks the opening of external links by clicking a link from any application or when running firefox <url> is taking about 5 seconds when the browser is already open. This was always instantly and still is on same setup on laptop machine, both are updated to the most recent OS packages.

I've tried safe-mode, new profile, copied profile from the laptop, searched online for references but so far I can't pinpoint what the issue seems to be.

Any kind of information as to resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
