Every couple of months I will start up my computer and find all my settings have changed and my Firefox add-ons are gone. I was not able to discern why but I made some changes in the configuration and got the text size back to what I wanted. This time it happened none of those configurations changed but I still had changed text size. I refreshed Firefox and found my add-ons immediately were reinstalled even though they were shown to be working when I checked my browser settings. One of the add-ons was Yahoo Mail ad blocker. I have used Yahoo Mail for years. Recently they have tried to make changes in my mail display to where I am being forced to go ad-free and upgrade to a mail subscription. After this most recent challenge to my computer setting, I am beginning to think Yahoo is disabling the Yahoo Ad Mail Blocker to get me to go to their subscription. Either that or Microsoft is challenging me to use their browser. It is like their is a war going on to win the internet. I miss the old Internet. Is there anything that can be done so my settings don't get hijacked?

Hi, I have had a very bad change in my computer, where my system was removed. I could not get it back and was helped to get some things back. In my computer, many things are very different to view things, so makes anything I can do is missing I need to have my Bookmarks, lost on the 16th. They will help me a great deal. Is there anyway to get my original Bookmarks List?

A Lil More; I had the song went off line on iTunes. I found something that said it would fix that. Loaded it and let it go, when I came back 2 hours ago. All my programs were deleted. If I could get that back, that would even be better. Thanks so much. Rene

I am positive about Firefox is the most secure browser and have evidence of it. Nevertheless the following site could traspass the Firefox barriers: https://www.eldestapeweb.com/ I am concerned on the survival of Free World and consecuently of Free Software. I guess the above mentioned site belongs to a parapolitical official organization. I consider that for it's job obtained tech help from some powerful international group. The average user of Firefox is unprevented of this issue. I am not asking for help in my behalf, because I have the necesary time to help myself. I suggest the Mozilla guys to investigate the facts. Hello and good afternoon, My English is not so good, im Write with translator….

I would like to turn to you after desperately, unsuccessfully, and extremely annoyed looking for a German contact person but not finding it, because I have a problem with your browser. I like to use the Mozilla browser because it can be used very individually. But every time you do a major update, my settings are gone. This annoys you massively and tempts you to change the browser for good. And when I use Edge, I have the German Microsoft support at hand to give them my opinion on the crap they are pumping out. Different with you, there is no German support that is there for emergencies, you look for the wolf and what do you find ??? Nothing .. that sucks ... and had to be said and described here.

Now to my problem ...

I have created a possibility for myself via an additional Chrome folder and other source text (through instructions on the net, since I am only a layman) to display the symbol bar in multiple columns, which class worked. You can structure, organize and do your work quickly. That's what I love about the browser ... but since version 82 was installed, my bookmarks toolbar can only be found on the left side and one below the other ???? I just write down my frustration about it here and yesterday, without receiving any feedback so far, instead of being able to work in a structured way ... do you think that's good, good for using your browser ??? Good for the users ??? No, it's really annoying .... and by the way, this multi-column bookmark toolbar could also be a work of your community ??? Why do others have to do this for you? You always report nicely what you have changed, improved, changed !!!! What I am describing here would be a real improvement, and no matter which version was updated to, the bars would remain part of the browser !!!! And what is it now ???? On my laptop everything is just left and below each other .. annoying .... And it will be damn well possible to finally integrate this permanently into the browser ??? Otherwise you are finally rid of me and I use other browsers, and now I am curious whether someone will reply to this mail and my problem that now, after the update, probably 1,000,000,000 other users will be exactly the same, just maybe you do not write I think I don't get a fulfilling, satisfactory answer for me either!?!?!?!?

I've been using Firefox 63.0 for quite some time and had dozens of websites open. I referred to these websites frequently. After checking some emails this morning, I decided to RESTART my laptop. It turned out this was a HUGE mistake!! When I went to "Recent Items" as I usually do to find the Firefox link, the only version available was 70.0.1. Not only was 63.0 NOT in "Recent Items" I could no longer find it in my Download logs. I had chosen NOT to begin using version 70.0 because there was no mechanism to move my open site from 63.0 to 70.0. HOW DO I FIND AND OPEN 63.0 OR, ALTERNATIVELY, GET 70.0 TO FIND AND RETAIN THOSE SITES I HAD ON MY 63.0? I should note that ALL MY PASSWORDS where required were stored on the 63.0 browser and are NOT present when I use the 70.0 version!!

I use the washingtonpost.com website multiple times daily. I just went to that site. Instead of the WAPO, the site opened to openresty.com. Openresty.com has replaced my Washington Post site and shortcut -- but ONLY in Firefox. The Washington Post site is up and running. I can reach the WAPO in Chrome on the same computer, my son can reach it in Safari and Chrome on his computer. I don't know how to get rid of this or if it is a threat. Thanks.

I need help! Everyday I have at least 8 Chinese Hackers that show up on on the top in the list of websites visited on my Firefox. The entire page is in Chinese with Chinese pictures. Please see the attached images. I have no idea how long they have been there prior to being so bold to openly show themselves. I certainly have no idea of what they have uploaded or downloaded on my laptop. How can I get rid of them and what can i do to prevent them coming back? I know a lot of weird things have been going on in my computer that I have absolutely no reason nor explanation for. this has been going on for at least the last couple of years or more. I have had 3 computers to crash in a short period of time which I feel they have done. Spyware shows I have had a keylogger for a long time but all of the files it takes me to are protected and I have not been able to delete them. BillCowanjr@gmail.com

Hi,

I recently updated, only to find out that all my passwords had disappeared :(. I checked my profile and there were three 0Kb files: logins.json, logins.json.corrupt and logins-backup.json. cert9.db and key4.db are still there and aren't empty. I'm on Arch Linux, so no previous version as well. Is there anything I can do to restore my passwords?

Nach Englisch (US) Hello people,

unfortunately since today I can't use Firefox anymore. Every time I want to start the program, an error sound comes up and nothing else happens.

There is no error message, no crash log, nothing. Just an error tone and Firefox does not open.

I have already uninstalled Firefox 10 times and also restarted the PC 10 times. Have also deleted the registry and once completely everything from Firefox. Even the profiles, just everything.

I even deleted programs that were on at the same time as Firefox when the error first occurred.

What should I do :(?

Greetings and thanks in advance!

Problem: FIrefox suddenly quit working. Firefox refuses to load anything including local, external, and firefox config pages. When attempting to go to a webpage or config page by pressing the enter button nothing happens and the page is entirely blank. The developer console does not open. After about 2 minutes of not doing anything, it crashes. Issue persists past re-installs. I am unable to submit a bug report as normal(I only have pending crash reports), as when I attempted, it said "something unexpected happened" and then the bug report itself crashes.

Chrome works normally as expected.

Troubleshooting steps taken:

  • Refresh and safe mode
  • Launched in incognito
  • apt-get purge
  • Removing profile
  • removing .mozilla, .adobe, .macromedia, /etc/firefox, firefox-extensions, .cache
  • installing nightly, beta, reinstalled multiple times.

Current workaround: Using chrome

Machine information Ubuntu 20.04.2 Kernel Version: 5.4.0-66-generic

Firefox 87.0 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 20.10 is currently unusable as it won't open anything.

  • Firefox opens with no page loaded.
  • Clicking the single "getting started" bookmark does nothing.
  • Entering a search term in the address bar and pressing 'enter' changes the url in the address bar but nothing is loaded and the page remains blank. There is no indication that anything is loading.
  • Entering a url, such as "www.youtube.com", and pressing "enter" does nothing. There is no indication that anything is loading.
  • Opening the menu by clicking on the burger icon, then on "preferences" does nothing except make the menu disappear (same with most of the options in the menu).

In the browser console I see some errors and no request info (see screenshot).

I've tried `sudo apt purge firefox` then installing again, which didn't help. The problem started with ubuntu 20.04 (I only updated to 20.10 to see if it might resolve this problem).

I've tried the "refresh firefox" option, starting in safe mode, and clearing the startup cache, which didn't help.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I had a different issue I came here for, but I discovered a very serious bug while I was writing my question, so I want to make sure this gets addressed first.

After writing my question, I clicked the "share data" button below. I got a message "We can't automatically get your browser's troubleshooting data, please try these manual steps. " Without thinking, I clicked the link to the "manual steps." Unfortunately, instead of opening a new tab, which would be the expected behavior, clicking the link took me off the get help form page (the page I'm on as I write this). What's worse, when I used the back button to return to the previous page, everything I'd written was gone. Obviously, the expected behavior would be to not take the user off the page in the first place, but if for some reason it did, to autosave the writing so it can be restored when the user returns.

This kind of bug used to be a lot more common in the early days, when I first started using the web, 25 years ago. I used to have a boilerplate describing the problem because I was sending reports of the bug so frequently. I've only encountered it twice, to my recollection, in the last 5 years. Firefox's website would have been one of the last places I'd ever expect to find a bug this glaring and elementary.

Thanks!
